Something that should also be mentioned is the removal of the Shiny Sparkle in the overworld.
I could understand why they did it due to how Pokemon spawn in Scarlet and Violet where if you despawn that specific Pokemon and respawn it, it will be a different Pokemon. But this becomes a big issue if you're trying to find a particular shiny that barely has any difference such as Tandemaus and becomes an even bigger pain if you're colourblind which was not an issue in Legends: Arceus which was literally the previous game.

I actually agree with this. I kinda like freeze too because I just find it hysterical when it happens, unlike other stat effects that have dedicated moves, freezing is like once in a blue moon. I've never once frozen a pokemon but when I get frozen I get mad for a second and just start laughing cuz it's so rare. However, I can see why frostbite is better because of Sp. Attackers and it not stopping a pokemon from working for eternity.
But sleep is pretty good imo. I think it's fine. Yeah, it's annoying, VERY annoying, but I think it's one of the few things some Grass Types have besides Paralysis. I understand why people would like drowsy better but I prefer sleep as a mechanic. It's okay to have at least ONE really annoying status effect mechanic like that.

I don't like it either. I enjoyed Scarlet and Violet, but I still prefer the older games where you can play in a different style. Having exp share permanently on means I have to switch out party Pokemon all the time so they don't become over-leveled. It seems like in Scarlet and Violet, with all the optional trainer battles, Exp. Share should just be on by default but you should be able to turn it off if you want. It annoys me that we don't even get the option, and that's the problem. Okay, they want you to not play set style, they want you to use Exp. I did the gyms/titans/bases in the very wrong order (Iron Treads was my second titan), which ended up being super fun! So, in a playthrough, *no* level scaling is fine, but I do think they should have it in one section or after postgame to make training less of a pain).

I think the dynamic loyalty is great, where you aren't banned from catching something overlevelled like in SwSh and can't just boss the game with a random lv60 you found like in most older games; they hit the sweet spot right here IMO. Sure you can catch that level 45 boy, but until you're able to train lv45s they aren't going to care what you think... until they retroactively respect you

The issue with that perspective on being anti-level scaling is that, while it is true that you can have cool experiences with taking out challenges that are way beyond your current level, this will lead to the other side of the coin incredibly easily: fighting bosses that are complete pushovers due to the aforementioned challenge giving you so much exp that you outpace a good chunk of the other challenges.

I’ve seen people suggest team scaling, referencing the Origins specials with how Brock adjusts his team so that Red stands a chance, but my main issue with that is how it affects the aces. Using the Paldea leaders as the example: something like Bonsly, Swablu, or Toxel would be too weak as an ace even for the first gym, but Altaria and Toxtricity would be too strong for at least the first two gyms. I want the aces to remain consistent, since that’s the defining Pokémon of their team.

I don't get why they removed the chip damage from hail/snow, considering that sandstorm exists and does both, IE raising defenses and chip damage. Hell, both make sense thematically as well: sandstorm raises special defense because the particles in the air block some of the flames/water/air/etc. that would otherwise hit the pokemon, while snow/hail would add an additional layer of ice onto ice types, thereby raising their physical defenses. As to the chip damage, they either should've left it on both weathers, or taken it from both, instead of just continuing to make it clear that hail/snow is their least favorite weather type. It's really telling when the main selling point of snow is that you can set up aurora veil in one turn.

Now I run around, stop, spin frantically and live in the fear of missing a shiny because they're too similar to the original colors - or the lighting is muddying up the colors so much that they're hard to tell apart (if it happens to be night time in game... Good luck). Bonus negative on pokemon spawning inside cliffs - could easily miss a shiny just by literally being unable to know it existed in the first place

One positive I enjoyed from Scarlet & Violet was choosing which bosses to fight whenever is convenient for you. While I can understand the argument with level scaling being implemented, I feel it would be odd if someone like Grusha was low leveled because of the amount of gym badges obtained, while the wild Pokémon potentially having higher levels than the Gym Leader in the same snowy location. On the other hand, one negative I have a problem with is breeding being more time consuming compared to Sword & Shield. While on paper the ability to breed Pokémon wherever sounds good, my personal issues stems from having to waste time in picnics for an egg to spawn. You’re unable to choose a pair of Pokémon to breed during picnics, start exploring elsewhere in the meantime, and immediately obtain one egg when starting another picnic. I’m more of the type who’d rather get a Pokémon with perfect IV’s, certain ability, and right nature in one session.

There's a number of spawn affecting abilities, like Static, Magnet Pull, and Flash Fire, along with Illuminate, that got their effects taken and relegated to sandwiches. I'd say B-Tier. If anything, Snow is now similar to Sand which isn't much better thinking about. It only gives Rock types a Sp. Def boost in Sand (tho it also gives Ground and Steel types an immunity to the chip)
The only reason people consider Sand "good" is because of it's great setter (Tyranitar, and to an lesser extent Hippowdon) and abusers (Excadrill, Dracozolt, and Dracovish), every other pokemon with Sand Stream / Sand Rush more or less suck
Hail has A-Ninetales and it's Slush Rush abusers (the best one being Arctozolt, arguably Cetitan), almost every Slush Rush user is a Ice-Type with 65 spe or less (Cetitan being the fastes one at 73)
and besides, Rock and Ice are 2 heads of the same coin:
    -Solid offensives
-God-awful defenses that's a detriment to any pokemon that just so happen to be part Rock or Ice (or worse, both *cough* Aurorus and H-Avalugg *cough*)
-Have a well-known move that nobody uses Rock nor Ice types for, cause of the reason above
-Too many slow bulky Rock or Ice pokemon, with very few fast ones in between (Weavile, Terrakion, A-Ninetales, Nihilego, Lycanroc-Dusk, G-Darmanitan, Chien-Pao)
-Their *now* now only boosts one of their defenses, but doesn't do much for them
-Both now also have a pseudo-legendary that's more or less carried by their pseudo-legendary status (600 BST well distributed stats, great movepool, bad typings)

Also, I hate that we seem to be going back to breakable TMs, especially with how SV handle them. In SwSh with TRs and in BDSP while it was somewhat luck dependent, you only needed money/watts to obtain more TRs/TMs, but in SV not only do you need LP (which is a non-issue basically) but you need to have enough materials and if you don't you have to go beat up a bunch of wild pokemon to obtain them.

I get what you mean about the level scaling. At the beginning, I headed for the grass gym first and thanks to that had a decent challenge, but did the bug gym second to last and that made it extremely easy. I think they could've done something like add level scaling to the gyms where the gym leaders have a different team based on how many badges you have (since it's been implied a while now that gym leaders use different teams based on the challenger anyway) but maybe have static levels for the Titans and Team Star. Would make sense for the in game universe and give us as players the best of both worlds.
TMs, I agree that there are too many different materials, but overall I think this is the best system to date. Non breakable TMs gave your teams too strong and also too samey of a moveset early on. I remember in Let's Go, so many of my Pokemon had Headbutt and Dig for like half the game because those were much better moves than anything they learned through level up for a while.
Don't understand why they couldn't just have added the defense buff to Hail but whatever.

I’ve always felt that Pokémon games should have difficulty settings which directly impact the level scaling of the game. Pokémon can go up to level 100 but often times the highest an opponent will get in the game is ok the 60s. There are about 30 more levels at that point to take advantage of that could make the game much more challenging.
