Mortarion is a beast both in lore and game. He is especially scary when piloted by Tycho, our resident Child of Chaos. Mubin and his Thousand Sons are going to test their magic vs the Death Guard might. In this 2,000 point battle led by opposing Daemon Primarchs we shall see who is crowned a Master of Chaos.

As a TS player it's honestly so upsetting that Magnus is so weak on the tabletop, given that he's supposed to be one of the strongest psykers of all time, second only to the emperor.

@@Giby86 sure but good luck actually using him given that he basically gets nuked in 1 turn every time hes on the table. It's just a shame that such a cool (and expensive) model is basically not usable on the table given how weak he is.
To be fair, not taking out Magnus first is insane.
@@t.mcgarry4 That's another point entirely, though, isn't it? Being the (second) most powerful psyker in the galaxy doesn't mean being tanky. He's a glass cannon, but quite the cannon nonetheless.
Magnus and Mortarion got so anxious waiting for Angron to show up they ended up in a sibling slap fight.
Great game, great sportsmanship and a great host giving us commentary. And as always a support comment for more Chaos Daemons.

I’m sorry, THREE PLAGUEBURTS!? As if there aren’t enough war crimes on the battlefield already.
Comment before watching it: Despite I usually doubt Mubin's choices in game, Thousand Sons against Death Guard should be a landslide as Death Guard has no protection against mortal wound and moves extremely slow, the type of opponent Thousand Sons enjoy the most. DG needs to pull some fancy tricks and good luck to overcome the differences between codices.
Comment after watching it: Tycho is fantastic as always and Mubin is making questionable choices as always.
I became extremely salty when it came to something I play. So when there's a Daemon Primarch in front of you, your first choice is not focusing every possible smite and witchfire on him, but using the best sorcerer other than Magnus to do mortal wound to some Chaos Spawn? Then he used Unholy Susurrus wrong since you can't use this strat as psychic phase proceeds. It has to be used at the start of it. And the Temporal Surge casted by the Infernal Master, JT mentioned he had 14 cabal points left and used 4 on additional D3 mortal wounds. Why doesn't he spend 7 on auto succeeds it and move the terminator blob?
Got some of the complaints out of my chest. Great production quality as always. JT's voice is what I imagine what a skilled commentator sounds like. In the grim dark universe of the far future, play on!
The overhead shot can be very deceiving, while it looks like Mortarion is within Ahrimans ranges, because he was on top of that central terrain piece he was actually NOT the closest eligible target, the spawn were (reference back to Magnus needing a 12" charge to get up top and fight Mortarion). The Unholy Susurrus was something we caught (haven't played Tsons in a few months other than on casual streams with the channel) Tycho was great and still allowed me to utilize it. As for the Temporal Surge that I didn't auto pass, it actually was somewhat of a blessing in disguise because 1) I couldn't have targetted the SoTs who JUST used the crystal and 2) if it had succeeded and I had moved the rubrics who I had targeted the Infernal Master would have been out in the open and not in range of look out sir unless I didn't fully utilize the rubrics movement.
@@MubinTalati Thanks for the patient response. I came to the realization that not everyone gives Ahriman a disc which I always found crucial. If the Magnus charge was so hard, why did you put him forward? Also didn’t you have a 9-men blob of terminators that failed the charge with a 2cp reroll? Why don’t you Surge that unit? Didn’t position them close enough to the 6’’ radius?
@@deamzhang7338 the 9 man blob on Turn 1 actually used the Crystal to teleport and units that have been redeployed can't benefit from a movement spell like Temporal Surge. Personally I just went for a few high risk high reward options given how quickly Tycho was boxing me into my own deployment and they unfortunately didn't pay off.
@@MubinTalati my bad. I thought that 5-men squad got the crystal. I still don’t understand why you bring the crystal over other better relic or Warlord trait. The scroll to let you roll 3D6 on the psychic power is always good on Exalted Sorcerer with Firestorm. The Duplicity WL trait of redeploying D3+himself is basically rapid deployment but weaker and cheaper. Being Cult of Duplicity makes the crystal even more redundant. U can simply do the same thing with 7 cabal points with any unit within 12’’. I know this is just for Tempest of War, personally I would never take the crystal

I had this exact battle today. Played as Death Guard. Had a 1000 pt army lead by Mortarion fight against Magnus 1000 pt army. Lost so badly. Mortarion was the only one to deflect psychic attacks. So they all focused guns on him. Once he died. It was all a wrap

I would say yes, as they just dont have enough psykers to deny enough powers
Yep. They suck at denying the TSons and MWs are the one form of damage that the Death Guard are vulnerable to.
The World Eaters are only going to have a stratigem for them
Death guard's strengh and viability comes almost exclusively from their durability, but with limited access to deny and no defences against mortals mean they are really weak vs psychic heavy armies
i would love to see a contituation of this idea, Angron Vs Fulgrim (not sure if fulgrim has a model though)
He doesn't at the moment but he probably will have one by the end of tenth

I think that the Thousand Sons should always try to not get into close combat but zap them with psychic energies from far away ;p
