I totally agree!!! I enjoyed watching him interview the stars and introduce movies. He had the ability to remember movies and events that the actors forgot about. That's amazing.
Met Liza in NYC. She was walking out of City Center with Michael Feinstein. She is darling . Was after her hip surgery and we wished her well and told her we loved her
We musy all pray and wish the best for Liza . She's had a hard time of it . She is a good soul who has been given some bad breaks , but she keeps on going in spite of her illiness .
She is sooooo amazing! So gracious and real. She has worked so hard to make her own way and has fought harder than even her Parents did to be a Star in her own right. Broadway didn’t have a lot of PR or Stylists or image makers like the Hollywood studio system did when her parents worked for MGM. You had to have IT or you didn’t make it in NYC. And she did it from the bottom up. All stage performers no matter their background, gender, level of talent or parentage must learn how to work the entire house. Wardrobe collection, costume sewing, ticket pressing and sales, set creation and direction, painting and moving sets. The list is endless. But everyone comes up that way if they stick with it. Liza is a star because she learned at a young age exactly what is expected of a performer. And because she has the stage in her DNA. She’s a favorite of mine! ❤❤❤
Kay Thompson worked with Judy to help shape her reinvention as a concert artist. The gestures, the song stylings, the reaching gesture, the hand in her hair etc. etc. The mature singer was NOT the MGM singer anymore but a lone figure on the stages of the world.
What a class! Manners, the way she dressed, nothing screaming, no stupid nails, no nonsense crazy face lifting, even it is there...Simple and brilliant! A real Star, period.
That is what I always wondered about Liza - does she miss all those people she knew from her parents' world (I would think there is a lot to miss) and, of course, her parents and she clearly said here, she does - she carries that with her.
Can someone explain why Liza has NOT received the Kennedy Ctr Honor award??? Why? It can't be awarded posthumously. So who is blocking it and, again, why???
I think Liza ay remember In the good old Summertime, she was 2/1/2. the other films her mother did at MGM, The Pirate was 1947,so she was only 1 yr. old. She was 4,when her mother left in 1950,and divorced her father. Yet, her father continued directing.
Liza was five when her parents divorced. Younger when they separated. I somehow doubt she actually remembers what they discussed after work at the studio.
Super-Talent! She had everything - the acting, the dancing, the singing. But like many celebrities, she went down the drugs and alcohol path. She could’ve accomplished so much more with her extraordinary gifts.
Although Kay Thompson didn't like making movies, I think it's great that she and Liza got to appear together in "Tell me that you love me Junie Moon". I know Liza treasures that too.
Typical Liza. Everything she says here is what she's said hundreds of times in dozens of other interviews. Nothing new. She has a standard answer ready for any question.
Happy 78th birthday 😊! Liza thinking of you.
Robert Osborne was a national treasure

This interview has become invaluable as more time has passed.
LIZA WITH A Z !!! Thank you for all your AMAZING work of art.

I always loved watching Robert Osborne on TCM. You can tell he had a real love for old Hollywood and this made his interviews more enjoyable.

Wonderful. Robert Osborne class act.
I adored Robert Osborne because he's so classy and witty. And he knew movies
Thank you so much for making this video and showing us another side of Liza. She's a truly great entertainer.

"Stupid nails?" Tearing down one diva doesn't elevate another.@@gaylefranklin
@@chrisn7259 what? I didn’t say that. I would never say that.
Hear, hear!
*What class and manners! The way she dresses; no.....
Brilliant, classy. What a past. As she would say, holy Toledo. Love my Liza.
RIP Mr Osborne!!!
She's got such a beautiful smile:)
Liza es adorable. ❤❤
that was GREAT
Oh how I miss Robert Osborne, he was perfect for TCM❤
It is so delightful to hear Liza Minelli talking in so much detail - and with so much appreciation for all the people who mattered to her.
That is what I always wondered about Liza - does she miss all those people she knew from her parents' world (I would think there is a lot to miss) and, of course, her parents and she clearly said here, she does - she carries that with her.

Yet Barbra Streisand received the award in 2008. Liza is much more talented as a singer than Barbra.

The choreography for Judy & Mickey films like "Strike Up the Band" was done by Busby Berkeley. It was Buzz who devised the fruit orchestra.
Yes. Buzz directed it and he set up the band for stop time animation. But Vincente proposed the idea to LB Mayer and Buzz.
Bless Liza. I don’t think she has a mean bone in her body… and may Mr. Osborn rest in peace
If only the studio system had not shut down, they'd have made an even bigger star of Liza. Shut intelligence.
Thank you for this!

Vincent Minnelli was a great director, did all kinds of famous films ... An Amerian in Paris, The Band Wagon, Gigi ... etc.
yes, I should have mentioned that.@@anneroy4560
yes he was and I should have mentined that.

She's wonderful. My favorite performance of Liza's is her singing "Teach Me Tonight" as her opening number at Radio City Music Hall in 1992.
“Eloise” by Kay Thompson was about Liza Minnelli!
yes, kay was liza's godmother
I loved Eloise. I wanted to be Eloise.
Although Kay Thompson didn't like making movies, I think it's great that she and Liza got to appear together in "Tell me that you love me Junie Moon". I know Liza treasures that too.
I know! True!
I love Liza! Hope I can meet her one day.
There will l never be another
How great. Liza always knew she had talent. ❤❤
Anyone know the song/singer in the title?
At one time, it was "These Foolish Things." Ella's Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday recorded it, but I'm not sure who does this rendition.
"The Every Thought of You" is the song listed in the end credits (but no singer name)
