So I remember one of my friends I used to watch (with a really small following) had made it into Summer Skirmish, and basically he played scrims on their official matchmaking discord that allowed people to do 1v1's. Well, he apparently played in a few tournaments and did well if not won them so that led to him getting an invite to play in the qualifiers for Summer Skirmish. He did well there, and then got invited to the lan tournament. But there were a bunch of teams and they had to do really silly things like build an Eiffel tower or whatever, they had to team up against other teams to break the elimination record in FN. I figure that had to do with making some extra money or maybe have better seeding in the lan event in the coming months. As I remember it pretty clearly, when he qualified for the Summer Skirmish, they added him to the pro discord and a bunch of people welcomed him over voice. After that I suppose he got selected by an Org which helped pay for his stay in a mansion in Cali. His org was TB, and he was in Lucky Lama's. I actually was given a super rare spray for supporting the stream, which they had given to streamers as loot drops for their fans. I still use it now and then on my account and no one really knows what it is lol. It is just a spray though.
Epic just needs to increase the prizepools. Billion dollar company not able to pay top 300 players in the world enough money to live? Sure. They only pay ppl who place rlly high in grands or top 3 in duo cash cups.
