I know what you mean, but I've never heard it described like that before. Is the opposite of that when I read the Lord Of The Rings book, I hear the actor's voices from the movie, instead of what I imagined the book character's voices to be like?
It's something about how the audio is processed where like... it sounds so much like podcast/radio that watching the video it doesn't register as live mic coming from a person's face.

And hey, since we're all friends and commenters here: my absolute fave Naked Gun bit is when Drebin's interrogating a dock worker and keeps slipping him money to get more information. Then the worker wants to know what all his questions were about, so he starts giving Frank the same money back, culminating in him borrowing a $20 from Frank so he can bribe him with it. It's so fast and seamlessly done that you barely notice the joke until it's over.

Speaking of Leslie Nielsen, There’s a great line that has stuck with me from the original Police Squad tv show when Frank Drebin was going undercover and broke into a building and someone caught him and asked “Who are you and how did you get in here” and he replied “I’m a locksmith. So many unique characters during this era. This led to the free dealing attitude era, which then led to the ruthless aggression era. I began watching at the tail end of Austin-Rock, stopped watching at the middle of the Cena empire.
I can enjoy this because I haven't seen it. You lads make it even more enjoyable

Totally get marking out hardcore to Naked Gun. I have a lot of favorites but I remember one in particular, I think it was 2 1/2, where Leslie Nielsen is in a shootout with a bad guy, and they're trading shots back and forth, and then it cuts to a wider shot, and they're squatting behind garbage cans about five feet from each other. All together now: I love it!
