I wasn’t expecting a RedLetterMedia reference on OSW Review but here we are remembering how this feud with Black Reign was just like that episode of Star Trek the Next Generation... where Data and Lore--
I have to think the only reason WWE didnt show any footage of Buddy Rodger is that most of his footage would be owned by the NWA or what little they had left was heavily damaged. Thinking back to it I've rarely seen any WWWF footage of him
That’s pretty much it but I want to expand on the answer. The NWA wasn’t one united company the way it is now so the footage would be owned by whatever particular territory he worked in. His big breakout run took place in St Louis for Sam Muchnick, who had been bought out by JCP/WCW already so they wouldn’t be able to get that footage. It was definitely filmed and was the biggest wrestling event of all time to that point so I’m sure they’d have used it if they could. Other than that he spent most of his time in the WWF but really what highlights are you going to show? Him dropping the belt to Bruno?

I wanna throw my two cents in for the next OSW arc. Why not do the sting hogan feud leading up to Starcade 97? You can start at fall brawl 96. There is alot of fun stuff in that.
I think it's going to be an Owen Hart arc, all the little Owen Hart interludes they have been peppering throughout their episodes feel like foreshadowing to me.
@@planescaped Not that Id be against an Owen arc but they already covered some of Owen best stuff (Not all of it of course). Also they are ending a huge WWE arc I hope they get away from the WWE at least for one arc.
You've gotta have Bash at the Beach 96 in there. After a decade of OSW, Hogan's heel turn is the episode that NEEDS to happen. They stopped two shows short of it in the WCW arc
I'd love to see them tackle pre-Hogan late 80's/early 90's WCW. They were especially guilty of cheap, carny bollocks back then, and it would be classic to hear the lads tear into it.
@Trump4Prison2021 he's known for Boston Legal too, literally his best role ever. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic version of the original game replaced with the sequel's soundtrack or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
I think I come back to these "compilation" reviews the most out of any of the OSW videos. I like having a bunch of smaller events and videos recapped in one place.
When my dad (who is in his 60s now) was a kid here in Michigan USA he went to a lot of NWA shows in the Detroit territory and Bobo Brazil was the big star along with the owner/booker of the territory Ed Farhat aka The Shiek.
Rewatching this old episode and I realized that my friends and I made it onto OSW, and we didn't even have to get tattoos! Spotted us in the crowd a couple times during the Raw footage. Great night. Got backstage passes by winning a newspaper write-in trivia contest and got to meet a few of the wrestlers.

Between the Backlund retrospective and the hall of fame segment here, you guys have helped me find new appreciation for old wrestlers. I'm so used to the glitz and glamour of the 21st century, first time I saw Bob Backlund was in the 2000 royal rumble and only heard names like Freddie Blassie, Buddy Rogers and Ernie Ladd in modern podcasts.
The week earlier was the live 2 year Anniversary of Raw from Houston and they taped this one. Very memorable couple of shows. I always dug this '95 Rumble and build-up..
That Baywatching guest appearance is absolutely fantastic, the show is complete bollocks and a clear sign that OSW needs more WCW. Allison is a great host, your man surprisingly fits right in - his generic biddle contributions aren't to be overlooked. Great one to watch if anyone hasn't! Jay and Steve blam all over it.
The secrets of WWF Raw on the megadrive; from what I remember, there were "super moves" you could perform for each character, that were NOT listed in the manual. The only one I remember was Doinks; he bent the opponent over and gives them an almighty toe up the hole, hoofing them over the ropes, and out of the ring.
According to Steve Yohe, wrestling historian (wrote the autobiography on Ed 'Strangler' Lewis), Buddy Rogers was the Ricky Steamboat of the 40s (before he turned heel and became what he's most famous for) and was actually one of the best babyfaces of that generation. Plus he helped innovate a ton of high flying moves of the era too. So Buddy Rogers, not only an all time great heel but a great face as well.
Another wrestler primarily known as a heel but also fantastic as a babyface - Rick Martel. I think it was a B&V episode of WCW where they mention how great Martel is in the role and checking it out for myself, the dude totally had that fire.
I clapped when I saw red letter media! Also for the next Arc I would suggest the 2nd monday night wars or Muhammad Hassan It's a tragedy we won't get the greatest PPV of all time, KOTR 95, though
Great episode. I have a suggestion for the next two arcs: First, the big return to TNA, starting from going back to where you left off the last time (Genesis 2007) and end with Joe's Big title win at Lockdown 2008. Second, return to the '90, with a... 97 storyline! SummerSlam 97 to jay's favourite PPV ever, Survivor series 97
I remember seeing this tape in the video store when I was a kid. They didn't have many wrestling tapes on offer, so I constantly asked my dad to rent it. He refused every time. Smart guy!

Of all the Bob Holly gimmicks the best is Hollywood Holly from Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Dude is on there cutting promos about hanging out with Julia Roberts and going to red carpet events and shit. Hilarious.
Or circa kotr ‘99 when he was feuding with big show and started trying really hard to get the nickname “the big shot” over, while everyone no sold his horrible promos Also from that storyline is holly acting like he was part of the unholy alliance with Taker and Big show, when they were off at the top of the card

Also for the next Arc I would suggest the 2nd monday night wars or Muhammad Hassan
It's a tragedy we won't get the greatest PPV of all time, KOTR 95, though
0:18 Hate to say it, but I'd have taken a second look too. Homegirl is gorgeous
LOL does that ponytail count as a New Gen mullet?
OSW Review episode 94.5 - Buck Quartermain retrospective
Great episode. I have a suggestion for the next two arcs:
First, the big return to TNA, starting from going back to where you left off the last time (Genesis 2007) and end with Joe's Big title win at Lockdown 2008.
Second, return to the '90, with a... 97 storyline! SummerSlam 97 to jay's favourite PPV ever, Survivor series 97
Amazing as always!
Never heard OOC (?) cackle as loud as he did when talking about “what a pittance”. Had me in stitches
I remember seeing this tape in the video store when I was a kid. They didn't have many wrestling tapes on offer, so I constantly asked my dad to rent it. He refused every time. Smart guy!
I really enjoyed the look back at Buddy Rogers in this video. Would be cool seeing y'all do a little bit of REALLY Old School Wrestling!
As soon as you started talking about shatner all I could think about was RLM
4:58 “HELLLOOOOOOO or as they say in New York” KILLED ME HAHA 😆 Much Love.
“330 LBS OF THICKLY MUSCLED *B E E F* IN PERPETUAL MOTION!”
NOT THE BEEF
great episode guys
Its OSW season.
YEEEEAH MY DURANGO, RUMBLE '95
OSW95 WWF Royal Rumble 1995 NEXT SUNDAY!! It takes at least a couple days to clear copyright - It'll be up EARLY for Patrons and live on youtube next Sunday! NoggerU.OSWreview.com 💚
That was a damn solid boy stable, I also have Curt and D'lo in mine.
having these career packages for Dudley and Rogers was really cool and sweet. much love! ♥
Logic behind Diesel's MVP:won every championship in the same calendar year.(also won the WWF title in 8sec.a record)
How did I miss hot mankini Simpsons Phelan when I first watched this?? You guys have the BEST art.
5:31 "Brets go where he's never be before"
- To the THIRD ROPE?!?!?!??!
Nobody tell Bill Watts!
24:43 OOC: "V1, you're fast becoming the workhorse of OSW" (In reference to him watching the additonal nitros etc)
V1: "ABSOLUTELY NOT"... Hilarious in retrospect 🤣
I stopped watching some RedLetterMedia to watch some OSW only for OSW to talk about RedLetterMedia. The hackfraud cinematic universe is un-escapable
If there was a boy stable for commentators and announcers, I’m putting Stephanie Wiand on mine. I don’t know how or why but I think she looked good during the Slammy awards. Also in all honesty, she wasn’t terrible during her run. She and Todd worked well together.
Of all the Bob Holly gimmicks the best is Hollywood Holly from Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Dude is on there cutting promos about hanging out with Julia Roberts and going to red carpet events and shit. Hilarious.
Or circa kotr ‘99 when he was feuding with big show and started trying really hard to get the nickname “the big shot” over, while everyone no sold his horrible promos
Also from that storyline is holly acting like he was part of the unholy alliance with Taker and Big show, when they were off at the top of the card
