Thank you. Signing up for fiction. Missed out last year as I was busy writing my debut book. I am delighted to announce here my debut nonfiction memoir titled Platform Ticket published by Penguin Random House is launching in Mar 2025. BookTube is such a wonderful experience . Looking forward to reading excellent books. ❤
All very well explained... Thank you!😊 Would love to participate as a judge but what holds me back is the making of a video or get to a social media platform to talk about my ranking.... Great initiative!Thank you for starting this....
I've signed up. My only concern at this stage is availability of books at my library, which often has long waiting lists for new releases (especially from well known authors), and doesn't have a huge stock of international titles. How many books would a judge be expected to buy?
Hi. It really varies from judge to judge. Many who can't get the physical books from the library in a timely fashion will try to get them on audio from Hoopla (if available) because there's no waiting list there. Judges do tend to max out their library holds and try to anticipate which titles might be in the round ahead.
What does it mean that books are initially nominated for judging based on “critical reception?” I’m looking for a definition of “critical reception.” Thank you!
Throughout the year, I scour new book reviews from more than 200 publications. The books that receive the most attention with the highest praise get added to the nomination list, usually 70-100 titles. The 48 that start the competition are drawn from that list after the judges make their preliminary votes.

It is not required to do a video, so you’re welcome to participate!

So it sounds like the translated literature category is never coming back?
Until we consistently have at least 300 judges each year, it’s just not feasible in our format. But I won’t say never!
