How about an area for shoes, such as a shoe bench or storage rack?

      Hello, thanks for your comment🌹
Shoes should be stored in a nice functional shoe shelf or keep them in a shoe organizer in a closet, etc.

@aifengshuiinteriorconsulting Thank you. We have no closet in our entryway, so I placed a shoe bench with shoe rack opposite. The space is 60 inches wide, the bench takes up 15 of those inches and the rack takes up another 13 inches, leaving 32 inches to walk through.
My wife hates it because she doesn't want anything blocking the entryway, but I'd be at a loss how else to deal with shoes, because I insist shoes are taken off before entering the rest of the home, and the bench is there for guests who have troubles putting on or taking off shoes without sitting down.
      Appreciate your help.

@@AttyMonroe There are many different solutions depending on the people's preference, the house's structure, etc...As for myself, I do not like having bunch of pairs of shoes so I keep them in some organizing system and put in a closet by the entry door. Only a few pairs of shoes are put inside of the small bench.
It is all about the balance, between appearance and function.
