That line tells me they're probably going to do that krap they did in Metroid other m where they'll disable all her weapons that are capable of hurting those robots.

@@genericvillain7534 There's a theory floating around that the Chozo from the last trailer is an X who replicated that Chozo, and he's responsible for plunging Samus into the depths of ZDR as well as possibly hacking the Emmis. If true, why wouldn't the X-Chozo strip her of her gear?

@@taz3rgamer247 I honestly like it. I really want at least Prime 3 levels of voice acting in my Metroid, but I know a lot of people are sensitive to it. I feel like starting with text to speech is a decent compromise, and it makes me think of Dan Owsen's iconic "The Last Metroid" line delivery.
That said, part of me was hoping to hear Adam's VA come back with some good direction and better localization 😅

Actually, having Adam's AI voice be totally robotic like this would explain why, in Fusion, Samus was reminded of Adam when talking to it; but then was still shocked to find out it was actually him.
The voice being so lifeless would make her doubt the significance of recognizable mannerisms; and it's not til the AI says "Lady" that those similarities suddenly make sense to her and everything falls into place.
Yeah. Whenever I read his dialogue, I always imagined a normal voice saying it but it would make more sense if it was a AI generated voice.

It’s Adam saying this, not the Federation, so he’s pretty familiar given that he was the one to tell her to blow up SR388 along with BSL. He and Samus are fugitives after Fusion and are acting as their own agent in this game.
I think that's kind of the joke. Also Adam used to call Samus "Lady" as kind of an inside joke between them back in the day which adds to that.
If Samus Aran visits a planet, that planet will be exploding by the time she leaves.
@@MagnificantSasquatch And yet none of the planets in the Prime Trilogy blew up except for Phaaze. The Impact Crater blew up on Tallon IV, but the planet still exists. The Dark half of Aether was destroyed but Aether itself is still whole.

Worldbuilding -- highly detailed diagrams of ships, weapons, and technology, translated by fans and made available online. The content is limited but still expands the universe a lot by showing more of the Federation's assets.
MB -- Objectively cool character, because while she's like Mother Brain, her motives are different, and her actions, though extreme are arguably justifiable. That boss battle sucked.
Phantoon getting upgraded from Pirate Lord to Eldritch Superhorror -- What it says on the tin. According to word of god, what we see of Phantoon isn't even its whole body. Its status of Pirate Lord has actually been retconned iirc, and now the Space Pirates just couldn't get it out of the Wrecked Ship.
Ridley's Boss Music -- It's unquestionably the best official rendition of his theme in a Metroid game. His theme in Nintendo Land is also a banger.

After playing Fusion, I don't trust the Galactic Federation to ONLY be _"investigating"_ anything.
If they're "invesgating" chances are they're probably trying to steal something
My headcanon was that, given the E.M.M.I.'s resistance to Samus' Chozo-engineered weaponry, the G.F. manufactured the E.M.M.I. with a hidden executable function: "If: Samus = threat... Then: Samus = die." I mean...when you think about it, it's hard to argue that Samus couldn't actually be perceived as a very real threat despite all the good she's done, considering how little is understood about the Chozo, how they operated, and how their technology works. Like, the Federation had to send Samus data on her weaponry throughout Fusion, which suggests they were reverse-engineering the Chozo technology to create a potential countermeasure in the event Samus goes rogue. O.o

So I EXPECT them to have anti-Samus gear by now. They know the Plasma Beam is the only thing capable of really doing damage to the Power Suit.
@@fluffypanda75 also during fusion they withheld a lot of data for her weapons until they deemed it absolutely necessary for her, they didn't want her to return to her maximum potential.

@@TheBanishedWind At the end of Fusion, Samus was expecting them to be hunted down for the BSL incident. But, there is no doubt to me that Adam is being sarcastic. He probably means something like "Don't let your guard down. We don't know if the Federation is playing any games or not."
@@robertkovarna8294 He also was the one who told Samus to guide the BSL into SR-388 to nuke the station AND the planet and knows that the GF are a bunch of brainlets who will act like the Pirates at the drop of a hat. He observed Samus destroy the BOX robot, the Nightmare, and every automated function on the BSL to survive. Him "suddenly" seriously caring about a handful of missing robots can't be taken seriously at this point.

After the events of the manga, OtherM and Fusion, as well as all the backstory of them we didn't get to see, Adam was more than sarcastic 😂

As someone who's as old as Metroid itself and a lifelong fan, seeing the comments from how excited everyone is for this game has me getting all the feels.
I feel you. I'm 27 and I became a Metroid fan right around the time Prime and Fusion released. Seeing the franchise get the love it deserves once again fills my heart with joy.
Been playing since I got Prime 1 for Christmas in 2002.
@@stefanoponce6090 I'm 26, my brother gave me his copy of Super Metroid before leaving to the military when I was 8. Since then I became a massive fan of Metroid & still have that same copy to this day.
Can't wait for this.
I'm 32, my first Metroid game was Fusion when I was 13. Seeing so many new fans also brings me a lot of joy.
I think we also need to thank all the famous TH-camrs who reacted to Dread's announcement and who allowed their fanbase to get excited for this game.

Personally, I’m liking Samus’ new style fusion suit more and more. I’m glad there is more armor-like components to it to go along with the still somewhat organic look. I also like that the design team kept the ship from Fusion as well. Looking forward to another mission with Samus!

Canonically, this game comes after fusion, so it would make sense that the ship would be the same from fusion. As for the suit, from what I understand, it's supposed to be her old suit slowly coming back to normal. Could be wrong though.
@@sealover7134 you are correct. According to one of the dread reports, the power suit that you see is basically the fusion suit slowly regenerating its previous appearance (presumably the classic varia suit) over time.
Joy Davis that's correct. It's confirmed by Nintendo on their Metroid Dread website that the fusion suit is slowly regenerating the mechanical parts of her Power Suit. The game is looking pretty good. What I think I might not like very much is that it doesn't seem like Samus will be a fugitive like most people thought she would be after blowing up BSL. I was really hoping to have the GF trying to hunt her down. Fusion's ending implied this would have a big impact on her next adventure, but it looks more like she will be siding with them once again to find out what happened to the E.M.M.I.

In every Metroid game in the series she gets like three or four different suits throughout the mission. How is this any different?
The cut is really weird, implying a direct transition from Regular Samus to Pseudo-Fusion Samus just from crash-landing on the planet or something.

Oh man I loved how they made the EMMIs move. They look humanoid . . . and then they're the most bizarre contortionists ever. Perfect creep factor. I love how when you jump over it and it changes direction it doesn't turn around -- it just rotates its head and shifts its posture so "forward" for it is the other way.
October 8th is becoming my most desire date to come...

This confirms to me that this golden suit is probably not varia but the one she ends fusion with, but with the mechanical components slowly returning like was hinted at in the dread report.
Edit: The suit at the end of Fusion is called the Omega suit
also this confirms some fan's theory's that samus was Cleared off the charges of blowing up the BSL station and Planet sr388. Since the X-Parasites where 100% more threatening than the Space Pirates whom are now leaderless. to Galactic Civilization i wouldn't be surprised if Adam had some participation in clearing her name. since Some of the Galactic Federation officials didn't think enough on how dangerous the X-parasites are since the only thing keeping it in check is now extinct.
@@ashwolf2006 To be fair they didn't know that the Chozo created the Metroids for the purpose of 'containing' the X-Parasite threat until AFTER wiping out the Metroids and THEN discovering the existence of the X-Parasite. It would be different if they had a clue before hand.

The ‘omega suit’ is a fanmade term. The suit has never had a official name
@@Razmoudah also in Other M (Eugh!) there were GF members who were creating bio-weapons in secrecy, which were not only frowned upon by the entire GF and was considered a Serious Violation in the Galactic Federation. and some of the high ranking officials are involved on it. heck in the ending we get to see one of those Corrupt Galactic Federation members, i wouldn't be surprised if some of them are involved in Metroid:Dread and chances those corrupt members where also the one's who almost made the biggest mistake of trying to capture and weaponize the X-parasite in fusion.
I can't believe we're less than two months away from playing a brand new mainline 2D Metroid.
It still feels like a fever dream.
Remember when everyone was waiting for Prime 4 news for years, getting excited over retro studio's job listings 🤣 because there was nothing else going on with metroid publicly at the time.

Okay. For all the “Why’s Samus suit look weird?” questions, her suit is regenerating. Remember in fusion she had to have most of her suit surgically removed. Imagine it like this: Skeleton->Muscle-> Skin. Right now the metal parts are growing back.
I wished the upped the body horror aspect of the whole suit damaged being merged with her body thing but the end of fusion she can just take the suit off no problem.
@@liammccbyrne4184 she could always take off her suit, but shed have to actually want it off or have it run out of energy. she takes it off at the end of every game, and especially so in zero mission.
@@jonathanodude6660 sure I know that but during her infection by the X parasite it attacked both her and the suit which couldn't be removed because she was unconscious and was described as being "too integrated" with Samus either by design (since its basically Sci fi magic) or because the X was fusing her with her suit. The only thing that saved her was to be turned into a metroid hybrid using Baby's DNA so there is a lot of cool body horror and some good potential character development for Samus with having to come to terms with her new body and being biologically the last living metroid.
But nah she just pops the suit off at the end and is perfectly normal.
@@liammccbyrne4184 I guess that’s just not the direction they wanted to take the series. In fusion, the parts of the suit they removed basically became junk, and she basically regrew it organically(??) During the course of the game as she absorbed abilities from the x parasites.
But the base suit was only stuck to her because the x were in the process of parasitising her and absorbing the suit. once she could consume them, there’s nothing to stick her to the suit anymore. And clearly since the parts of the suit that were removed became the sa-x, the x were fully capable of absorbing it completely with her inside.
can we talk about how there’s no title and date at the end? it just plays the cinematic and leaves you with your thoughts, that’s genius

god this game has me more hype as the week goes by. Ive been waiting for a new Metroid forever. Metroid is my favorite series of all time and holds a deep place in my heart as my grandpa and I beat prime 1-3 when I was younger. printing out tutorials and spending hours trying to beat the games and figure puzzles out. Man I wish you were here to see this grandpa.

I am so ready, I hope gamers don’t sleep on this game. These days if the game isn’t some massive triple A power house or given the title of “indie game”, it gets shafted. Metroid is what helped created Metroidvanias that are so loved now. I just hope gamers can come to the origins of the genre and pay their respects.

I was 12 years old when Metroid Fusion came out. When I originally heard rumors of Metroid Dread back in the day, I was crazy excited. Everything new thing that's shown is amazing, and I can't wait to play.
Metroid Fusion was the first Metroid game I played. Seeing a game that was a rumor getting released is a dream come true.

Honestly, knowing everybody is hyped for this game makes me even more excited to play it. I'm happy Nintendo is giving the Metroid series more attention. =)

Yesssss. Please, hype up Metroid even more. Make it be a successful hit so we can get even more Metroid games in the future. Man I hope it's good and reminiscent of the older games; the vibes the atmosphere, exploration, upgrades, etc.
Yeah I think more people are open to dark and spooky platformers like the Ori games, and with all the modern day bells and whistles I'm sure we'll find some new metroid fans.

I mean, Adam's voice couldn't be the same otherwise it would create a plothole of Samus not figuring it out sooner during Fusion. At the time, prior to the reveal, the AI simply reminded Samus of Adam.

And I think the feminine voice in the trailer was Samus herself, only now it’s highly modulated. Makes sense, she’s in her suit, so of course she’d sound different as opposed to being out of it.
This trailer made it just in time now that I'm replaying the 2D Metroid series. I'm about to be done with SUper and now I'll play all of Fusion reading Adam's lines in that robot monotone voice

Music is soo good! It gives a feeling of terror and urgency.
This is surprisingly well edited. Using the ellipses in the text as a countdown is very subtle and very cool. The sudden end is also particularly striking. Nice work.

I thought it looked cool a few months ago, might get, might not, but now? This game’s a must-have. I don’t play many Metroid-Vanias, so this’ll be new and exciting! Never touched a Metroid game in my life, and even my jaw dropped when I saw the Dread title drop. I at least knew the history of this cancelled game.
you should look into Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It's a good metroid-vania game.

This is incredible. Metroid has been my favorite Nintendo franchise for almost six years now, but I have never been so excited to play one as much as now! Hearing Adam speak took me by surprise, but now that I've heard his voice, I hope that Dread has fully voiced cutscenes (wherever applicable).
Me too, I would really like for Metroid games to have voice acting (not taking the Prime series into consideration), they did it in previous games, but only for alarms, or background stuff. From the E3 presentation trailer we can see that a Chozo seems to be talking, do maybe there's voice acting.
Yeah, I think given the right direction, voice acting in Metroid can work. Maybe Samus will say a few words.
I would also like for Dread to have a song at the end.
I know, it would feel weird for a franchise such as Metroid, but we've had Lifelight, Jump up Superstar, Edge of Dawn, and to a lesser extent Brand New World and Ballad of the Windfish. A song dedicated to Metroid would make my day, personally.

I think its gonna happen. I have noticed Nintendo is putting at least one of almost every one of their franchises on Switch. Like Metroid, Pikmin, Xenoblade, Kirby, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Mario Kart/Party/Golf/Tennis, Luigi's Mansion, Advance Wars, Warioware and Splatoon all have had an entry on Switch. I think some more obscure picks like Star Fox, F-Zero, and Chibi Robo are next

@@FandeJay Honestly the best Star Fox game in my opinion is Sin and Punishment 2 on the wii lmao. But I do think they are cooking something with Star Fox. Hopefully they don’t do another 64-esque game (Since it was the basis of 64, 643D, and Zero). I do also think it’ll be a budget title if its just Arwing stuff. If they can make multiple ships/characters/or a decent “out of ship” section, they can easily make it a full priced game
I'M SO HYPE FOR THIS GAME! I've been waiting years for a Fusion sequel and it is delivering!
My only complaint is that I'd have loved for Adam to keep the color purple instead of using red or blue like in the footage we've seen, and also for his voice to be a robotic version of the voice he had in OtherM, but these are minor complaints.
I don't know anything about the metroid series but as a fan of Metroidvainas I'm hyped

Wrong. F-Zero, Earthbound/Mother, Kid Icarus, Golden Sun, Punch Out!, Pikmin and Star Fox are more underrated franchises. Metroid is actually one of the top 6 most popular Nintendo franchises.

You should. I'd recommend Metroid Zero Mission, or Super Metroid to start with.
@@beauwalker9820 If you want to know what happened before this game, it will have an intro to explain things, but if you want to experience the story yourself, you should play them in this order: Metroid Zero Mission (GBA), Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS), Super Metroid (SNES), and Metroid Fusion (GBA). All four games are superb. Metroid Dread is Metroid 5, continuing the story after Fusion.
Also, people are talking a lot about the fan made am2r game, which is a remake of Metroid 2 just like Metroid: Samus Returns. To get the real canonical story, play the official game (Samus Returns). Another reason to prefer it is that it's a lot better game than am2r.
I get absolutely none of the key plot points shown here, but I'm excited to (probably and hopefully) pick this up as my first proper Metroid game.
