Don't forget to update the firmware for the rear camera as well. The front Novatek processor handles the front and interior cameras while the rear camera has its own processor and firmware.
Just got my A229 Pro. Magnificent machine. Already have videos of cars driving at me in the wrong lane, flying by in a field. And jumping on the road behind me. The fact that all the cameras are crystal clear hi res is wonderful. Paid for itself in 2 days. Got one for the Mrs and one for me
Totally agree. I have them on all of my cars. Great cameras
Hello, I am French and I installed the 2 CH version of the A229 Pro. I'm really very satisfied with it, the videos are really beautiful! It replaces my old A129 Pro Duo, which also remains an excellent dahscam.
Yeah, these are great cameras. It is a bit bigger than the a129, but worth it considering the video quality we are getting from the camera
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Thanks for answering me, I wasn't expecting that.
What is not obvious is the wiring and the routing of the wires. Not easy in a 2020 Fiat Tipo Sedan...
ordered the A229 because of this video.
Awesome !! Thanks man
The explanation is clear and precise. Thank you for your effort.
I have a question: What type of camera was used to capture the scenes, especially the lighting and illuminated text?
Shot on a Sony FX3 and edited on FinalCutPro.
The hardwire kit. That switch on the box, is to set the voltage it turns the camera off at. Not to set the voltage of your vehicle.
It needs to match the vehicles voltage. If you set it to 12v you will be fine for most cars. Some European cars and some trucks run at 14v so that why you have the other settings
Definitely getting this!
well explained, thanks
Do you know how this compares to the A139 Pro other than the rear camera having Starvis 2 also? Just bought the A139 Pro but considering returning it for this.
Main difference is 4K front starvis sensor with 2k rear starvis compared to a129 with 4K exmor sensor with the same resolution and 1080p rear. The new camera also has voice controls and that’s really it.
I think you will be fine with the a129 unless you have to have the better rear camera resolution.
Night vision a139 pro is better. A229 pro is better in 3 channel mode daytime
Hi, can I use the Viofo A229 Pro 3 channel, one camera on each side of my semi truck, and one camera facing the front?
Yes you can. Only challenge is how to mount the cameras to the sides.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad thanks
Great Video! I have found that the camera continues to work using the cigarette lighter when the vehicle is off. Is there a reason hardwired is recommended for parking mode (e.g. will it drain the car battery if using the cigarette lighter when parked)? Are license plates picked up at a further distance with the Pro than the standard A229? Thank you!
You can use the hardwire kits for parking mode, there is an ACC cable to judge if the car is turned on or off. The Pro version is better for license plates pick-up compared to the A229 Duo.
@@billkzhou Thank you!
How hot does this camera get? My 129 gets hot enough to the point it just constantly reboots its self until it gets cool enough.
I live in the desert in weather that tops the 110s and never had problems with the cameras overheating. How old is your camera?
I have 2 - 4 year old 129s in my kids cars still running strong and dealing with the SoCal heat without any issues.
3 years old a129 pro duo mounted to windshield with their 3m sticky. Live in the Northeast. Summer was sunny and hot some days of 100 plus outside, and the interior of the truck was roasting hot. I would have to put my AC on defrost to blow air to the camera to cool it down. I don't know if the 3 years on the windshield have "cooked" it. I read on reddit that 4k cameras run hot and viofos in general run hot. Looking for a 3ch replacement dunno if I'll stick with Viofo.
I doubt it man. We get 3 months of 100 degree weather, and average 70-90 the rest of the year. We torture these cameras plus use them offroad with a ton of vibration and I’ve had no issues. They are designed to take the heat. But I think you guys get more temp swing than we do. While we could see some nights go as low as the 40s in winter, that’s about as cold as it gets. That could see a camera die earlier. But at 3 years old, I think it’s time for a new one. 4K dash cams are a huge step up. And today is the last day of the Amazon sale to get a killer deal on them.
@@NoDefectsOutmy 129 4k died after 2.5y, I found that there's a tiny thermal paste, and airvents were block by tape. Bad QA.
That sucks man. I have an 2 a129s that are 4 years old still running strong on my sons cars
What is the ideal location to install the interior camera to cover both side of the vehicle? How is the parking mode comparing to the U3000?
Location really depends on the car. For my truck, I installed it on top of the rear view mirror. then using the app I found the best spot.
As for parking mode I use Timelapse and it's great. you get the full video quality of each camera in a Timelapse video that is triggered using the hardwire kit. It's worked great for me.
@@muro2140 How many pictures per second do you sent it to? Thanks.
I typically set Timelapse to 2-3 frames per second
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Thank you!!
i bought an a229 duo (not pro) this february. should i upgrade?
I don’t think so. The main difference is 4K front 2k back. The camera you have is plenty good. For a few more years.
Yes!!!
What device are you using to plug the dash cam into the computer to power it on?
It’s just a USB C port replicator. MacBooks don’t have usb a ports. Any standard USB A port will power it no problem.
Can you plug it to a usb or has to be the 12V?
Yes you can.
Thanks a lot for your review and the discount code. I just used it to buy the 2ch version of this dash cam. 😁
Your welcome. Glad we could help
