Thanks for the helpful advice. I was able to remove the back (and side panel, just enough) to clean the radiator coils and the unit it back to working order. The opposite side vent had been over heating, and at times making a high pitched squeeling noise. Now, no excessive heat and no noise. And... back to making the best ice ever. Cheers!

OMG thank you I have been dealing with this for a year on my girlfriends, (got her one after she liked mine so much, now we live together, Using hers cause mine was a fellow 1st build like yours, keeps it as nice as possible since these are so popular almost as a collector item). We have taken it apart so many times, cleaned it out, not much dust inside, since our issues began a year ago, kept a small desk fan on it to help dissipate hot air blown out, as its under a cabinet on counter next to coffee machine one side and knife block on the other, even switched to distilled water assuming build up of scale on the inside after years of service that ice cleaners weren't getting even after day long repeated cleaning runs and home mixtures to go over commercial mixtures, vinegar, citric acid, etc... chemistry says the clean water at low temps should over time take those minerals out on its own making the distilled water just like regular tap. Just so many alterations cause a device like this at these prices should last longer than 4-5 years. Just so upset. Thank you for the tear down and explanations.

@@everydaydave270 thank you! Unfortunately the sensors, switches, the screw drive thing that makes the ice, all good, best we could figure was it was just a bad compressor… got a used one in decent condition off eBay for a fraction (won’t say which fraction cause it’s always a crap shoot between price and quality off eBay) so far a couple weeks of that and it’s good. Have the old one if anyone is interested in taking a crack at it.

I need your help. The white wire holder that the wires are plugged into that goes into the chip on the inside of the circuit board that is on the bottom of the lid broke on me and now I can not plug the wires in so I can use my ice maker. where can I find one of those white clips at??

The board attached to the underside of the lid is just the bluetooth board. If you aren't using the app to connect over bluetooth you should be able to run the icemaker with that board unplugged.

Alternatively you could rewire that wire via solder. Or one of those heat shrink connectors. Or pretend like it didn’t happen.
Edit: just noticed the lid cable doesn’t have any white wires on mine. Yellow. Green. Black. Red.

not off hand. Take off the covers and let it run. Try to isolate the noise.

Pump may be out. If you don't hear the pump, check on that and possibly replace.

@gladis Vicencio - you may an air bubble in your line. While the unit is running, reach down and pull off the screen in the water reservoir below your ice basket. Put your finger on the hole. If you don't feel any suction, your pump is probably out. If you do, hold your finger on the hole for about 10 seconds. This will get the air out of the line and your Opal will start circulating water again.

I'll look into it. Sounds like there are trying to engineer in planned obsolescence.

They made them harder to repair...of course. There are four screws, i believe two on top and two on bottom, they are a complete pain to get to. Once you get them out you can get the fan on the backside. th-cam.com/video/zv5IvTjLEeM/w-d-xo.html This guy might have your answer there. I did not watch the whole video so It might be better than mine to get info on. Or worse? either way, between the two I'm sure you can find what you need. Don't hesitate to reach out if not.

I haven’t started the repair. There’s a video floating around on how to replace this fan and in that one the fan is on the inside. It appears considerably more difficult. 😢
