    I stumbled upon this video but couldn't help to notice how much you remind me of my dad. Your actions, wit, and mannerisms all made the video so much more enjoyable. Man, I miss him.

      I miss my Dad, too. Hope I stirred good memories for you.

    I'll be heading over to the TV shopping network and putting this ice maker on 5 easy pays. I really enjoyed and had fun watching your video, thank you for making this video. I have a question, why don't you put the ice scoop inside the ice bin?

    • @DrWiggo
      @DrWiggo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! I suppose you could leave the scoop in the bin, but it somehow seems wrong to me.

    Good video. Thank you man. Wife wanted this ice maker and I’m trying to set it up for her … I hope it’s worth the $600 lol 😅

      One of the many reasons I love TH-cam! Better than any owner's manual!

    Thank you sir. I will email GE and let them know to send this link with each ice make for set up instructions 😎👊

      Thanks, but instructions should be less rambling (so I've been told).

    I got the original one for $399, no side tank - I prefer saving the counter space. I've had it a month ago far. It's quiet and we love it. These machines are super heavy.

    • @DrWiggo
      @DrWiggo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very heavy. That's why I put mine next to a sink, so I wouldn't have to move it for cleaning.

    Thanks for the video!! I’ve had this on my want list for awhile, and couldn’t justify it. I finally had $200 in rewards from Amazon, so I pulled the trigger, and my machine is doing its first run. Haven’t hooked up the app yet, but all my kitchen stuff and my washer and dryer are GE and I use the app for them.

    Yeah they’re expensive. My ice make went out on my fridge. I bought the Opal 2.0 used on eBay for $275 plus tax. Still expensive. Bought a one year warranty. I guess I’ll see. I’m excited though. Won’t go another summer buying bags of ice again.

      If it works, you'll be happy. Great ice!!

    How is that bin holding up with that stainless scoop ? I like the stainless but feel it will scratch up the bin over time which is why they provide the plastic scoop

    • @DrWiggo
      @DrWiggo  ปีที่แล้ว

      The scoop rarely touches the bin, and I haven't noticed any scratches. (I think the plastic scoop is a cost thing, but you may be right.)

    Quick Question - So I want this but we dont use a TON of ice... so what happens when the ice melts in the plastic container? Does it feed back into the water reseviour or just turn into a bunch of water in the ice bin?

    • @DrWiggo
      @DrWiggo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it just melts and goes back into the reservoir.

    How about now after having it 3 months, was it worth the investment for your family?

    • @DrWiggo
      @DrWiggo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! I use much more ice now and enjoy chewing it so much more. I'm already down to under $1 per glass of ice, and it continues to fall the more I use.

      If you're rating the Opal 2.0, I agree completely. If you're rating the video, there are too many pluses. :-)

    I was impressed with the cost of my machine but I did buy the cheapest one I could find. Not $600+ but $171. Free shipping ok it’s a discontinued version but it was supposed to be used, when it arrived I couldn’t tell it had been used except for a dent on the external tank and I have never had a new car so I’m used to custom body work performed by a non-professional. No cracks or leaks and it made plenty of ice once it got started. After I had made enough ice I shut the unit off and left it alone until I needed it again. I had to dry the unit inside out with a towel before it wanted to start making ice again and now I am on my second batch. Good unit not worth $600.00 in my opinion but after I spend $800K on my new to me sailboat I’m not going to worry about the small stuff that much.
