Now that I think about it, Paul cheating and getting Lilia pregnant probably had a big impact on Sylphy's mindset on polygamy.
She saw how Rudeus's household was really serene despite what Paul did (except for him losing all respect in the house).
Considering Rudeus's father and how much of a pervert Rudeus is, she really had every hint that he will very likely get multiple wives in the future.
But she was fine with it, because she might've idolized what it was like at Paul's household, and wanted something like that (And wanted a bond like Zenith and Lilia's).
Lilia taught her asuran manners and also taught that it would be certain Rudy would have more wives as every Greyrat has multiple partners.
It was more like sylphy had quite low self esteem stemming from their childhood and almost expected Rudy to just up and leave her at some point for another woman so she tried her best to be understanding and support him and his partners as long as they themselves were respectful
You know I never actually thought of it that way, sylphy also got told alot about roxy by rudeus even as a kid, so I assume when she released this was the person who tought rudeus about magic... and released he worshiped her underwear she would probably understand that in a way she's her teacher...

Plus like Zenith, she knew Rudy would do it eventually despite giving his word otherwise. When Zenith married Paul, she never believed Paul would be faithful in the first place and was surprised he held out for as long as he did and already come to terms with it and planned to forgive him when he brings another girl home. She did not expect said girl to already be home and felt betrayed by her knowingly sleeping with a married man who's wife she was close with.
The only big difference between Zenith and Sylphy is Sylphy doesn't follow a religion mandating monogamy getting in the way of morally forgiving her spouse, so she's like "yeah you're totally not gonna be like your dad and sleep around, anyway I'll have an extra meal when you get home from every trip. And I'll leave you if it's Nanahoshi."

Looking at the comments, I dont get why people think Norn is annoying. She's literally the only normal person in all these bizarre experiences. its such a nice touch of the author to put such a character like her so close to the protagonist. i mean, who would support polygamy irl, imagine your own brother cheats on his wife and brings home another woman while his wife is pregnant. imo her actions are justified. as flawed as she is.

It's true that Norn is the normal point of view that we are given of the work. And I think like you that it's an important touch, especially for a story that puts a lot of emphasis on social and personal problems. Especially at the end of the LN, the book she writes about her family is really touching. But the problem I personally have with Norn is that she never really tries at the beginning to understand the why and the how. Whether it was when she arrived in Ranoa or when Roxy joined the family. She stays fixed on her ideas more than anything. Rudeus screwed up by cheating on Sylphie and Roxy shouldn't have taken advantage of Rudeus in this situation. But the problem is that Paul, the person she admires the most, also cheated on Zenith with Lilia. Plus we had an arc about Norn's perception of Rudeus that changed in a good way. She should know that Rudeus is not as perfect as she thought and that he has flaws too. I just find the character selfish at certain times.

Norn is a complex character and many hate her because she causes conflict with a lot of characters that are deviants from the norm of the world. She also had practically no maternal figure except her Uber religious grandma, and Sylphie, so of course she would see this as an attack on Sylphie.
Characters like norn are few and far between.

It would've properly sailed through Norn's head the same way it did with Eris, although the story with Eris was more different than with Roxy. Since it wasn't the religion or Polygamy, it was just an extension to it, but how Rudy approached it by stating clearly that he cheated without Sylphy's consent.

He was extremely depressed because of his father's death especially because he didn't cared about his parents death in his previous life and also he didn't really thought of Paul as a father and connected to him or so he thought because Paul's death affected him so much that he shut himself in the room and didn't came out for 7 days and was barely eating because of which elinalise from her experience said that he could die anytime either by weakness or during the journey to home because of which Roxy went to him and started talking to him and comforting him by sharing her experience and everything but nothing worked then she hugged him to calm him and that worked he felt relieved after all that pain and uneaseness of the past 7 days and he didn't wanted that feeling to go away and then it happend( this is real when you feel like this especially to this extent then only this type of support works especially from someone who is close to you). Rudy's condition was similar as a drunk person(not in his mind and his actions out of his control). After waking up next day he realized what he did unintentionally and then he decided to not hide it from sylphy and tell her the truth and then you know he realized that because of what Roxy did for him he should take responsibility for her and then he decided to marry her and make her his 2nd wife but only if sylphy is OK with it. So would you really call this cheating? Especially an intentional cheating?. He is the goat and I respect him so much, why? Because he went to fight orsted just to protect his wives and family even tho he knew that he can die but he still went and even after being defeated and half dead he begged orsted to kill him but just spare his wives,children and family. And he did this twice well not twice because evey battle he fought after that was to protect his family and ensure their safety.

@@SushidogbatHe didn't did it for fun or in his right mind he wasn't even thinking straight he was in constant pain for a week without eating or coming out of his room but then after all that pain he felt relaxed with Roxy and he didn't wanted that comforting feeling to go away. So I would not say it as a typical cheating cause he wasn't in his mind and the first thing he realized in the morning was that he messed up cause he wasn't thinking straight and then he decided to not hide it from sylphy and later he decided to take responsibility for Roxy by marrying her and for that he decided only if sylphy is OK and if she isn't then he wouldn't marry Roxy.
