I wish I knew about the FGC 7 years ago.... I played this game as a kid not really understanding it and I swear to god this was the best fighter in history looking back at it now understanding as much as I do now....
I was thinking the same thing. I've always played fighting games but never truly played them the right why until SF4 series. I was like 16 when CvS2 came out and played it night and day.
Oh nice. hahaha I was like 9 years old or so maybe 10 playing it in like 2002 or something. Now I'm just an AE monster wishing and hoping for GGPO to be like hey a shit ton of people will buy this game and it wont die like skullgirls or Third Strike and still play it if we just update the game with modern features. ugh. GGPO Y U NO DO DIS
@neogeomaster This is false, watch JPN players mostly use SNK and completely destroy most top tier capcom chars, people are just too used to the capcom chars by now to know how to react to them.
HakuGman this game was good because of a couple of things, guard gauge. Guard gauge insures that people play more aggressively. Also having semi broken characters also makes a game fun to watch. Coupled with how quick the rounds are. Plus the mechanics, like rolling, and custom combos let the players play to their liking
the only thing i didn't like was that you could kinda feel some Capcom's clear bias to it's chars, they were more priviledged with hitboxes and what not - courtesy of SFZ series playabilty -... while most SNK roost felt in disadvantage - not that they plain suck or that they're plain umplayable even in tournaments - ..... and EVEN THEN it wasn't all that true, every single char is playable in this game with the correct grove and enough skills - Iori, Vice, King ftw -.... damn i still LOVE this game....
Surprised to see Combofeind using my Nigga Rolento like that. I usually aggro with him but a bait and punish type is more than likely how he's supposed to be played...
Typical Westcoast always hating on anyone nots from there, been this way in the FGC since the beginning. Sucks now the “talent” now is still all the same old dudes from 20 years ago lol EC had all the new young talent 💯 UK eating too and Japan still on top
Yeah on Ps2 I had a Cheat CD that gave you infinite life Kappa, so I could unlock the Extra Mode with ease.Once you get Extra Mode the game is easy as you will be able to exploit auto guard and stuff. An with that you can easily Auto Just Defence the 100 man survival.
@11:00 Daigo could've just activated and gone for the kill after the whiffed super, right? Tourney nerves? same thing after landing the jumping strong @11:20.
MisterWarzard Daigo only used that team because Bas kept winning against him with that team. He knew very little about the team. His Vega CC was low damage, his Vega GC CC didn't have the last rolling claw, he had numerous missed opportunities to land his Bison CC... don't watch this video to learn how to play that team. Watch it for Combofiend.
+MikeandIke12 +GunterJPN I doubt that, there's footage somewhere of him playing in Japanese tournaments with that team, probably before 2006 (when he was on the way out of the scene). Combofiend's k groove was excellent, very fundamental and smart rushdown. Interesting how he dropped Sagat after 06, when every Japanese K groover anchors Sagat to this day.
+MisterWarzard I think the last Evo that I went to was the first time Daigo used A-Groove (if it wasn't, I was at least there for his A-Groove debut). I was with the Japanese contingent everywhere, driving them around, translating for them, etc. I asked him why he was using A-Groove, and he said it was because A-Groove was too good, and he arrived at this conclusion due to playing Bas, the best A-Groove player in Kanto and the one he practiced with going into that Evo. By that point, Daigo was not playing CvS2 as much as before, so to make up for that, he was using the strongest characters. But compare Daigo's play vs. Bas's play and you will CLEARLY see that Daigo's knowledge of the intricacies of the characters is not as intensive. He is playing it safe, going with easier combos for guaranteed damage (clearest example is his Vega CC in the corner - a bunch of flip kicks vs. Bas's s.roundhouse launcher into jumping fierces).
+pwncorperation I believe on average the Capcom characters were better, much like the Marvel characters were better in MvC2: they just worked with the game engine more effectively. You had the various specialists, but by default running with Blanka/Sagat/x was a pretty good starting point for most players.
+pwncorperation Some characters were just broken with the L-cancel bug and that's mostly a few capcom characters. So the characters that are not as efficient with the L cancel are not that viable in tournament and that's mostly SNK characters. With that said, you don't have to pick a Grove that will make you roll; you can pick K Grove. So imo, the best way to balance SNK is to fix all the bugs.
+neogeomaster How the hell can you say that about this game? The King of Fighters is a series I have been a fan of my whole life, but even I can acknowledge Capcom's good work. The CvS series and Street Fighter 3rd strike are on of the greatest fighting games I've played. and this is coming from an avid SNK fan.
I don't care which char does it but i just *love* to see Blankas and Bison/Vega lose and i would do it all day long lol ... *turtling is annoying* guys
Combofiend played 2 awful matches at the beginning. Daigo played 2 awful matches in the end. Still, Combo was the best in the world. Could actually win with low tiers AND play AMAZINGLY!!! Combo, Leezy, Buktooth, and that GODLIKE Japanese Chang player whose name I've forgotten now
I hated that game because it didnt do justice to SNK character. That's why WE barely Saw SNK charaters in top matches. This game was street alpha4 But still a masterpiece. But we SNK fans were frustrated
Game commentary has come a long way. Back then seems so boring and literal. Now there is more flavor to the commentary with people like Aris and James Chen.
Bear in mind that this is seven years ago, and commentating has improved markedly since then. At this point I don't think there were any live streams so commentators really had to teach themselves and go based upon their gut.
Johnny Marvéll *This. Back then the commentators could be heard by everyone including the players, which meant they couldn't discuss things like strategies or lines of play because they might influence the match. They were a stage presenter.
These are the most depressing fights I've seen. People in the arcade play way better than this (by my disbelief) pros. Blanka and Vega are so predictable. A-grove Bison does a lot of damage when you know the right time. Rolento is so fast and if you know the right moves, your enemy cant keep up with you. Cammy is so changing and little that is annoying but so good to play with.
Watching all these old tourney vids has given me a better perspective of the community. Much respect to the OGs.

I mean.. yeah i think this is probably the best fighter of all time.
@neogeomaster This is false, watch JPN players mostly use SNK and completely destroy most top tier capcom chars, people are just too used to the capcom chars by now to know how to react to them.
@neogeomaster Haohmaru and Hibiki makes some troubles in this game
I love it when a blanka team loses against a team without one
Lol
Ikr
i wish they still had this at EVO....
But even more I wish for Capcom vs SNK 3 😊👍
+Johnny Marvéll 😂😂
There was a side tournament this year
Side tourney for evo 2019
still waiting on that A-Groove nerf
Lol, I think they'll patch it soon. You just keep waiting
Patch it yourself.
They patch it yet?
@@manofculture4228
Yeah
nice
Watching CF beat the meta team made me happy.
What a match. Combofiend played this one perfectly. So impressed 🥳🤩
Eeeeeeyooww!
The 2nd match was a thing of beauty.
Why is this game so Godlike? Is it hard for Capcom to comeback to this?
it went downhill after street fighter 4
Indeed.
HakuGman this game was good because of a couple of things, guard gauge. Guard gauge insures that people play more aggressively. Also having semi broken characters also makes a game fun to watch. +VixXstazosJOB let's not act like God rugel couldn't cut stomp any off the capcom cast
Inject into my veins any time the meta team is defeated in CvS2
Is it trueeee love we're making
Slightly partisan crowd here. :)
Happy 15th Anniversary CvS...
#WhensKOFXIV

+Benji Vazquez already out
Lol, dude... I literally said this 10 months ago.
Fighting game announcer have come a long way
- 2018... -
i'm a simple man, i see Eagle i just Click XD
Lol man same here xD
man those a-groove combos are nuts, i wonder if capcom will ever going to have a game with custom combos again.
How I wish charge times were that quick in modern SF games...
+Psychoblue well they are that quick in SNK games
+Joeyjoejoejoejoe Yes, but they don't make SF.
Man, the amount of Blanka balls in that second match is just nuts! lol
god i love watching this game! even a bit more than marvel xD
I've never knew Combofiend plays this and mains EAGLE of all characters...
Surprised to see Combofeind using my Nigga Rolento like that. I usually aggro with him but a bait and punish type is more than likely how he's supposed to be played...

anyone else find "THIS BATTLE IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE!" ridiculous and funny?
i do lol. andi love and miss it :(
Dude, it's fucking dope. Not funny.
Wow, combofiend raging in the first fight.
Here cause it was re-released on ps3. Stuck on boss mode cause i'm terrible wish i had actual skilled players to unlock Extra mode for me.
***** i guess that makes us 2 that like good fighting games and card games, finding your user here of all places i mean lol

+GunterJPN apparently he played that team for 10 minutes .. lol. How do people know that and is that true?

+GunterJPN Didn't you have a site with a bunch of A-groove comboes, way back when? You still in Japan?
When this game was big did everyone play just the capcom characters?
+pwncorperation I believe on average the Capcom characters were better, much like the Marvel characters were better in MvC2: they just worked with the game engine more effectively. You had the various specialists, but by default running with Blanka/Sagat/x was a pretty good starting point for most players.
ahh okay. That makes sense.
It was basically Blanka, Cammy, Sagat, Bison, and Vega for days. Probably because it was Team Roll Cancel Invincible.
+pwncorperation Some characters were just broken with the L-cancel bug and that's mostly a few capcom characters.
So the characters that are not as efficient with the L cancel are not that viable in tournament and that's mostly SNK characters.

I like this game, but I hate blanka and his blanka balls. So I hate that Blanka is top tier in this game. Other than that, this game is awesome.
combofiend and valle tore up xbl on this one
a groove op
Yep... *grabbings* all day FTW (not that i really like it in this game BTW lol)
I've never played CvS2 competitively, but man A-Blanka and Vega must be annoying to play against lol.
I hope Daigo is happy with SF4 because on this video...what a pity! His C groove was by far better! He can never win something by playing like this...
he played alpha so he is used to custom combos
@@betweentwotemples don't see that on this video... Daigo never do lots of results with this A team.
Loved watching Rock kill Blanka
I wonder what Mike Ross thinks of Daigo's Blanka
Game commentary has come a long way. Back then seems so boring and literal. Now there is more flavor to the commentary with people like Aris and James Chen.
Everyone could hear the commentators there though. They can't go in depth without possibly influencing the players.
Why the fuck did diago put his weakest char on the last leg wth
***** lol
Capcom vs Capcom 2
FFS the commentator sux >.
Bear in mind that this is seven years ago, and commentating has improved markedly since then. At this point I don't think there were any live streams so commentators really had to teach themselves and go based upon their gut.
to be fair if they talked too much, as well, the players would be too distracted...
