Global Youth Climate Training | Session 3 | Adaptation

This session will provide an overview of the progress made towards the Global Goal for Adaptation and the integration of adaptation dynamics into decisions about climate mitigation. Participants will learn about the various approaches and strategies for addressing the limits of adaptation and the continuum with L&D, building on the previous week’s session.The session will explore the risks of maladaptation and the need for better adaptation goals, as well as the ethical and justice dimensions of adaptation. Participants will learn about the various funding mechanisms for adaptation, including the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund, and the challenges associated with financing the scaling up adaptation efforts. The training will also examine the future perspectives on adaptation, including the need for more innovative and transformative approaches, the important of mainstreaming adaptation into development planning and decision-making, and the role of adaptation in building resilience and achieving the SDGs.
By the end of the session, participants will have a deeper understanding of the complexity of adaptation and the challenges associated with achieving the Global Goal for Adaptation. Participants will also have developed critical thinking, analysis, and communication skills through engagement with interdisciplinary topics related to adaptation and climate change.
