1998, the year I finally saw Joni Mitchell, at the Gorge. Met this young man at Safeway a couple weeks ago & he saw my Dead T-shirt & asked if I’d seen them at the Gorge, I said yes, many many times. I told him I was online the day before looking at tickets for Joni Jam next summer, and saw Dead tickets 1st, he got super excited and asked if I was at the Joni, Bob Dylan & Van Morrison concert in 1988, he said that was his 1st concert & his 19th birthday, it was a birthday concert for me too. He started laughing and asking if I remembered her singing Dylan style on Big Yellow Taxi, she was touring with Dylan in 1998, and they are old friends, of course I remembered. I remember everything about that night!! Joni is my Queen 👸 & it’s the only time I ever saw her live!!
Welcome to the club! I was 10 1/2 when "Hejira" was released, been a fan ever since. And I only listened to it because Jaco Pastorius played bass! After 2 playbacks of the LP, it was clear who the real "star" was!!
I am in awe of this woman ... completely. Always have been and always will be. Her talent, ability, and insight, not to mention her cool, are incredible. "Artist" doesn't quite seem to fit her...
You know what's truly lame about the general human society...... Big Yellow Taxi is the only song about 90% of the population knows by Joni..... it's joni's bohemina rhapsody.... and it's annoying when people get excited about it and then have no interest in the galore of impacting music she creates.

Joni is one of the greatest original artists I've ever witnessed in my life. I'm grateful to have lived at the same time she did.
She has been a unique person and artist for so many years. Getting more perfect with each new project.
