Watching and listening to this vid, and what they were saying about his contributions to the GD I was thinking "Yea And He Had A Great Attitude Always". That's when I looked down and saw your comment. I saw them in 1985 at the Greek Theater in LA and at Anaheim Stadium in 87'. Great dude!
turn that offensive electronic elevator music off or down . have some respect for a musician that was in one of the most grounded ,inventive bands that made some of the most groundbreaking music in our lifetime .
Not a Deadhead at all, but I interviewed Bob Weir in 1980. It was in a hotel room in Anchorage Alaska, on the 12th floor. Lesh was sitting next to an open window knocking back Heinekens. I will forever see him sitting there, green bottle in hand looking down through the open window. and I'm wondering when someone else in the room will be concerned he'll fall right out and go "splat". No one else cared. Goodbye, Phil. I wasn't really a fan, but I know a legend when I meet one. Au revoir.

one of my hero's When listening to the Grateful Dead he stands out and is just as important to listen to as Jerry Garcia. one of the greatest bass players who during the 60's when the bass was simply a time keeping back round filler instrument Phil was one of several seminal bass players all with unique styles who changed the way the instrument would be played in their genre's- Jack Casady, Larry Graham , Jack Bruce, John Entwistle and Phil Lesh.
A lot of the fans that joined in the 80's were unruly trouble makers. They just wanted to be part of something popular and i stopped going to the shows, partly because of them. RIP Phil, look for Jerry and Pig! 🌈
Saw my last show in 82 I was tired of that vibe and my life needed to change. I lie I on a lark went up to Highgate Vermont in 94 and saw them play to a massive crowd but I by then felt like an outsider/onlooker . Couldn’t believe what they and the scene had become with video screens and all to boot . Then Jerry passed the next year and that was it . I never felt compelled to attempt to recapture the magic of the heyday and try to get busted for good old times sake dawning a hideous commercially made Ben N Jerry’s tye dye t shirt . Nope not for me .
Actually you are overestimating AI. It can't do this. If the voice here is synthetic (sounds real) there is no need for Ai to do it, just a text file and text to speech software.
@@Chops_McCoy Yes. That is such a turn-off to me. I love it when they have to "say" numbers. It exposes (at least at this point) the AI-ness. E.g. 10,000 "One oh, oh oh oh" :)
WTF with the music suddenly drowning out the narrator? Big screw-up by the creator? Anyway, can’t keep listening, wish I could have heard the whole tribute.
Lay down my dear brother lay down and take your rest. I want you lay your head upon your savior breast. I’m gonna miss you. Take care of Phil. See you again someday for sure. Peace love there’s no words that can explain how I feel man I’m really really really really very, very shocking up upset so God bless you my brother rest in peace.
This is presumptuous claptrap. Why do you assume Jerry & Phil gave a shit about your stale religion ? What about Bill Kreutzmann, Pigpen, Keith Godchaux, Brent Mydland & Vince Welnick ? I guess they don't rate in your vanilla vision of the afterlife.
Could you have tried to use some of his music for thae background? Your choice of is awful & I could not bring myself to watch the video - waste of time.
This was good until that loud piano music started around 3:25
I know! Ruined the video!
Yes it did @xxryder1
It is computer generated shit anyway.
Yeah... WTF, I just stopped watching.
If you haven’t noticed. Phil is always smiling

84, I didn't know he was that old? Damn that's almost 90.
Good review, however the music is terrible either lose it or redo it with Grateful Dead music please!
