An audible in American football is where the quarterback sees something in the defense and changes the play at the line of scrimmage. Basically he’s saying he doesn’t like to change things up.
Audibles is an American football term. It’s when the quarterback sees a defensive team in a set that he can expose by changing the play before he gets the ball to take advantage of the defense
Or when the defense looks like it will destroy your play call and u gotta call an audible so you don’t take a huge loss. Now it’s more of a slang term used when you have to change the original plan when issues arise.
NF literally said in 10 feet down, "My fans made me who I am but they also deceive me, I've been allowed to live life like I'm already grieving" or something like that. I really really want him to find happiness
That’s pretty deep when you think about it. It’s like some fans won’t allow him to move on from the old stuff. They’ve made him feel like they’ll leave him if he doesn’t mention mental health at least once an album 😔
As someone with mental challenges for many years (ocd being one of them) I appreciate the contradictions in his music and also his shift in confidence seems real to me there is another interview where his body language is completely relaxed and at ease There are days where shit comes up out of nowhere and you don’t feel yourself but the trend seems to be upwards which I can relate to fortunately Confidence isn’t a definitive state but a spectrum (it’s not are you confident yes or no? But how confident are you?) Ocd being one of the factors to seemingly regress on that spectrum because of doubt permeating every single aspect of your life sometimes even despite having undeniable proof of the opposite by basically having a warped perception of reality and your mind coming up with all sorts of seemingly reasonable explanations to justify the doubt
Spot on! Recovery from a traumatic incident, depression, and/or an addiction is not purely a positive/upward trajectory. I can only imagine the artistry, in this case music, comes in waves, whether sad or happy.
The thing with depression (at least in my case) is that its never truly goes away. Sure, you get better, but the scars will always be there regardless, and on bad days it will rear irs ugly head and take you back to that dark place again... Case in point, its fine for me to still hear depressing stuff from Nate but I also enjoy hearing him spazz out on a beat as well. I don't think its contradictory or even deceiving for Nate to put out an album of hard tracks and srill have a calm, slightly depressed attitude while being in the public eye. We are all human, after all.
There's a double in "I CALL the SHOTS but don't need my HAND HELD". Nate really love movies so here he's also talking about when the camera is carried by the operator, often creating an uneven movement, that's a HANDHELD SHOT. It wasn't until THIS year that someone on Twitter pointed it out lol and Nate confirmed lol
An audible is a term in American football. Its when the quarterback changes the play it the last second because he thinks a different play will better than the original play that's called. So NF said that he isn't into calling audibles, but I guess you gotta call them when you're odds are at the bottom. Its a "football" bar and also means that he did something different at the last minute by putting out this mixtape which isn't his typical way of how he puts out his music
Funnily enough the Chorus is a double...He mentions tally up count the votes wasn't me That's a Joke, and he repeats that's a Joke a few more times. But in Grinding, he mentions how he should be in the Top 10 then said I'm just playing with you I don't care where the top is. So the Chorus could also be about its a joke that he ain't your favourite but also a joke like he doesn't actually care
Yeah so when you unplug a long power cord, you roll it up to keep it organized, then put it away. Served it's purpose now put it away, cleanly. Audibles is an american football reference meaning when the defense is stacked against your initial play call the quarterback yells at the offense to change the play to offset the defense. It's an on the fly thing where you see it's not going to work in your favor then you change the play right away.
YES!!! I totally agree with you, we need to want the best for people and do what we can to help. This world would be so much better for it. Of course we will have our down moments but let's not stay there.💯💯💯
An audible is a play a quarter back calls when he changes the plan based on what he sees the defense doing. It's a reactive play. It's not what they had planned to do in the huddle. I think he just means he doesn't want to have to react to what people say but sometimes he feels he has to.
I think Nate is very introverted and as an introvert myself i know it’s possible to be very confident inside and to feel big but around people i’m just quiet. He says several times in his music he doesn’t like fame or crowds or interviews. I understand how you’re thinking but i also totally understand how he can feel a way internally but not be the same on the outside. This song goes TOO hard
I completely agree with you teddy, I love both his sad and uplifting music because I have times I can relate to both. But the last thing I want to see is nate get back into the low head space. He deserves to be happy. If your sad you can go relate to his old songs. He doesn't need to be hurting anymore.
appreciate you being honest about what you think :) I love your reactions above others because you tell what you really think unlike many others who are just listening and saying they like the song
Audibles are when the quarterback changes the play last second in American Football. When someone "throws an audible" it means they changed the plan, usually after circumstances change
NF said in Lost in the moment "Ever since you fell in love with the music you found a way to express how you feel, but the moment you walk away from the mic, you don't know what you're doing" That would be a good time to meet up with him and tell him He's incredible, lol
You won't get the "audible" bar. It's an American football term. It's when they change a play at the line of scrimmage. It's referring to him not planning on ever doing a mixtape but he changed his plans
When he mentions about audibles, that’s referencing something in American football (it might apply to other sports as well, i’m not sure) where the player backs out of the plan for a play because he sees that it would be unsuccessful based on how the other team is positioned. So calling an audible usually means changing plans at the last minute
So what you are saying is that you are either confident or not. NF a long with every human has many feels about themselves all the time. The struggle only ends when you take your last breath, hopefully everyone can learn to not struggle as much. Also, NF is very humble. I think he not only puts these hype songs out because it helps him be more confident but also for his fans to feel that confidence in themselves. You don't really seem like a fan when you pick apart his words to the point if he says anything different he's being a hypocrite.
Inaudible is a football term, it's when the quarterback in the middle of the play before he snaps the ball he changes the play that's making an audible changing something up.
Also I loved your reactions to his new album... Recently a reactor commented on one of the songs saying how impressive it was that he was wrapping to that instrumental (because it was barely even there- no beat) and then I listened to the songs again and noticed that that was the case in alot of his new songs... It was almost like Acapella... 🤯 I too found it to be soooo impressive and really slept on by reactors and even from listeners reviews and comments (that I've read) I think it's hard to really catch because his cadence is so strong and sorta IS the beat. Not sure if you caught that as well... prolly did, but I thought I'd point it out to you if you haven't because you'd really appreciate it.
This is in my top 10 all time NF tracks, and yeah, I LOVE confident Nate the best, because he TEARS IT UP!!!! Most of my fave tracks lean towards hype/confident Nate as well. Love the breakdown Teddy!
When he says rolling up your cord, to my knowledge that’s not slang in the US but just referencing the pulling the cord line. But audibles is a reference to American football. When they are about to run a play, the quarterback can call an audible at the line of scrimmage if he doesn’t like the look the defense is giving him. Which means to call a different play or switch up the plan.
You doing Ren journey. That's so cool! I actually heard him for the first time recently and I'm very impressed. Imagine him and NF making a collab. That would be mental. You should react to Ren - Dominoes somewhere at the beginning. This song is fire.
Audibles are basically when someone controls you by audibly changing the plan or the play on the fly. He don't wanna play with someone else in charge... jump through their hoops... and follow their play by play vocal directions.
The image that pops in my head after hearing the 'pull the plug, i'm rollin up your cord' line was nf unplugging and rolling up a rapper's mic cord after he destroys him in a battle.
I can see how Nate has been working through a lot of his past trauma that’s been holding him back, but he also has OCD and and anxiety which is not something you can just heal from. There are ways of living with it and coping skills to help, but I don’t know it’ll go away fully, and it’ll be a battle he’ll be dealing with in some way. My husband and 2 grown daughters also suffer from those issues so it’s something I have a front row seat for. A good support system and loving home is a must for improvement-thankful that Nate has that!
"Pull the plug, I'm rolling up your cord" "Rolling up your cord" sounds a lot like "rolling up your court" which is an expression of challenging someone on their home court, or territory, in sports.
“Rolling up your cord” is an American phrase meaning that he’s shutting it down. He’s pulling the plug from the wall and rolling up the cord and putting it away. Like you would do with an appliance or landline phone.
“Audible”- in this context is a American football term for quarterbacks changing a play, moving away from the original play call from the sidelines. Which makes the bar make sense.
@@TeddyGreyOS I'm doing good! I really appreciate your pinned comment. I sent you some pics on Instagram showing some of the damage and my new chainsaw for cutting the downed trees
Audibles refers to American football where once a quarterback takes a look at the defense and changes the play at the line of scrimmage to take advantage of a weakness based on the defenses alignment.
The line where he's talking about AUDIBLES, is referring to football. An audible is when you call one play, but get up to the line and right before the play starts, someone sees something with the defense that makes them need to change the play. So they will call an audible, which will alter the play called initially.
⛽⛽⛽🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 great reaction to one one my absolute fave NF tracks (if not THE fave). And I agree with you 100%. I want NF to do well and for that to show in the level of music he makes. "Rolling up your cord" ...NF is rolling up your power cord after he just pulled the plug. "Calling an audible" is making an unplanned adjustment on the field by the quarterback in American football. Layers is also flames.
An ‘audible’ is an American football term where the quarterback changes the play call at the last second. Mostly when the QB sees a weak link in the defense and decides he knows what play call would work best right now.
Teddy if you're really into this confident Nate (like i am) you really gotta react to Destiny from the Perception album asap. Insane flows, cool beat and JUST FIRE BARS 🔥
But that’s not all he’s allowed to be… why can he not be supremely confident without a single track about mental illness? That’s not why _”we”_ follow him, that’s why _you_ follow him. I personally follow him because he’s insanely talented and I want to follow his journey now in the hopes to see him happy and successful.
He addresses the position he’s put in by his fans in outro……an an audible is an American football play calling term. an “audible”…a change of offensive play call, on the fly, to adjust to the defensive play called
I can be a walking contradiction...people would never think I have insecurities, and are so surprised to find out that daily my confidence is shaken because of me. I struggle with accepting that I'm good at anything, but people around me applaud me and compliment me on what I'm doing, but I don't feel it. I know that I get in my groove and think that I'm doing something great amd it is because other affirm that but then I get in my head and it's never exactly what I think "my perfection" looks like.
If he can get there to be happy, joyful, joking, and fully confident, that would give me further hope that myself and others around me can get there also! Life journey, it's a process... ups and downs...being real. Sometimes, on a high feeling good feelings all the good things and confidence in the mode, but then something happens bringing you down. Does humbleness enter in reminding a person that there is always someone/soemthing better, and then reality of you saying your the best feels foolish? Maybe struggling with wanting to stay humble because that much pride is dangerous? Idk, just thoughts floating around. I also have heard that sometimes something else takes over (alter ego?) when an artists get into their groove and they ARE the top of their game.
Bro you are by far my favorite reactor. I 100% agree that I want nothing but happiness for Nate or any one else for that matter. Your breakdowns are amazing and damn do I love your energy. When you took off the shoe I almost died laughing lmao. Keep doing you man!
You “roll up the chord” of something when you’re done with it… unplug, roll up chord, and then store away… it’s not that they can’t keep up with Nate… it’s that they can’t even BEGIN to keep up with him 🤒 I had to take a flu test after that it was so sick 😷 Edit: also he means an “audible” as in changing the play call at the line of scrimmage in football 🤔 The MixTape being the audible I believe 🤷♂️
I love this reaction!!absolutely agree!!! But the older album's was therapy for him,so he needs this to get to this point he's now!!!! I really love the old stuff from Nate, specially if I'm in a dark place...but i also looove to see/hear the self confidence and the power in the new albums..i wish Nate happiness &love ❤❤❤ All the best for you!😊
Audible is referencing the NFL(American Football). If you go to the line of scrimmage and you as the quarterback don't like the play, or you know an even better play based on the defense, the you call an audible, change the play. Respect and Love from Townsend Tennessee
"audible" is what a quarterback (American football) calls when they call for one play in a huddle, but then they see the defense lined up against them and change or alter the play they called for in the huddle. The QB "calls an audible".
I think the interview was just him being awkward and humble. He's confident in his album but he was just nervous about talking about it in an interview. Also, he's known for being emotional in his songs and no one's saying he has to write songs about being depressed. Most everyone loved his new album and those songs were emotional without being depressing. Doing an ENTIRE album of just "rap rap" would make him the same as every other rapper and be frankly boring. At least to his older fans.

I also have heard that sometimes something else takes over (alter ego?) when an artists get into their groove and they ARE the top of their game.
Don't sleep on the song Layers from this mixtape!!! You'll throw both shoes!
Bro you are by far my favorite reactor. I 100% agree that I want nothing but happiness for Nate or any one else for that matter. Your breakdowns are amazing and damn do I love your energy. When you took off the shoe I almost died laughing lmao. Keep doing you man!
also, let's not forget....this is a Mixed Tape.......pure FLAMEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, why'd you slap me?
Because bro, you're incredible!
Lol! I'm definitely using that line.
a real one will understand they’ve been acting out of pocket and begin to change their ways fast 😂 sometimes, between men, words are not needed hahaha
An audible in American football means changing the play after reading the defense... you make what you want with that 😅😅😅
Speak teddy. 100% agree. I won’t Nate happy also.
An audible is an American football reference. Changing the original play called based on what the quarterback sees. When the offense lines up.
Alot of ppl really like KNOW and DESTINY(2nd half) as far as rap rap goes
I think the audibles is a reference to the Clouds "mix tape" which something he's never done before.
Rolling up your cord: Think of an electrical cord, you unplug it and roll it up before you put it away.
You “roll up the chord” of something when you’re done with it… unplug, roll up chord, and then store away… it’s not that they can’t keep up with Nate… it’s that they can’t even BEGIN to keep up with him 🤒 I had to take a flu test after that it was so sick 😷
Edit: also he means an “audible” as in changing the play call at the line of scrimmage in football 🤔
The MixTape being the audible I believe 🤷♂️
Audible is an American football term when the quarterback changes the play that was called.
Rolling up your cord…like when your done with an extension cord and you wind it up to put it away
I love this reaction!!absolutely agree!!!
But the older album's was therapy for him,so he needs this to get to this point he's now!!!!
I really love the old stuff from Nate, specially if I'm in a dark place...but i also looove to see/hear the self confidence and the power in the new albums..i wish Nate happiness &love ❤❤❤
All the best for you!😊
Audible is referencing the NFL(American Football). If you go to the line of scrimmage and you as the quarterback don't like the play, or you know an even better play based on the defense, the you call an audible, change the play. Respect and Love from Townsend Tennessee
Audibles is an American football term for changing the play call at last minute
"Audibles" is an America Football term where the quarterback changes the play.
"audible" is what a quarterback (American football) calls when they call for one play in a huddle, but then they see the defense lined up against them and change or alter the play they called for in the huddle. The QB "calls an audible".
“Statement “ and “Layers”
Trust me.
Audibles is a American Football reference and audible is a play called on the fly. Not setup, just a reaction to what the defense is giving you.
A good mic and a little acoustic treatment and it’s gonna be pretty awesome
I think the interview was just him being awkward and humble. He's confident in his album but he was just nervous about talking about it in an interview. Also, he's known for being emotional in his songs and no one's saying he has to write songs about being depressed. Most everyone loved his new album and those songs were emotional without being depressing. Doing an ENTIRE album of just "rap rap" would make him the same as every other rapper and be frankly boring. At least to his older fans.
audible is a football term for changing plays on field
Some of these songs have been written for 2-3 years, even most of the hope songs
Another great reaction, thanks for the vid 🔥
Please make a reaction to "NF performance at his high school in 2011". It's amazing, the world needs to see it!!
Audible is a American football term the quarterback changes the play at the last minute...
Audibles are in american football like a change in a moment
He always had song kinda like that. You are missing a piece of the picture, because you only watched the Videos
Audibles is an American football term, calling an audible is to change a play after seeing it won't work
I am Cambodia 🇰🇭, also Fan NF 💖
