I've just finished reading Secrets and Masks. Not sure whether it's the most healing ff to read after Manacled. I read it thinking it was it a light-hearted ff. HOW COULD I BE SO WRONG

Nope, thankfully I had the common sense to have a break between the books, but all the ff that I read after Manacled had dark themes, whether they had a happy ending or not. AAAAAA!!! Manacled definitely brought me into another world of dramione. Can't complain tho, their all such good reads
And oh, no idea where to add it but maybe Occlumency trope? There is one quite short fanfic that I really enjoy but it is Dom/sub tag so not everyone would like to read it. "And how is that panic attack treating you, by the way? Still completely hysterical?" "No, you prat, I'm too busy being angry at you." "Then I helped." He leaned over and picked up the folder he'd obviously left behind. "Now say 'thank you Draco' and I'll be on my way." Before Hermione could curse him, the laughter that had set all of this in motion once again filtered into the conference room and she stiffened. "It's not her, you know." He looked over his shoulder before turning back to her. "Sounds like her, but it's not. I checked." "Why?" "She's hardly my favourite aunt." It was absurd, really. The entire situation. A burst of strangled laughter escaped her mouth and Malfoy quirked an eyebrow at her. "Can I leave or are you still planning on hexing my balls off?" His casual delivery took the fight right out of her and she lowered her wand. "If you tell a soul -" "Come now, Granger, these types of secrets are what blackmail is made for."
There’s another really good one imo, but I can’t think of the title. In it, D rescues H, disguises her and takes her on the knight bus, hides her in his apartment. I believe she is ill or injured or has lost her memories or something-she has to recover. He shelters her in his apartment in the muggle world where he has two neighbors, original characters that completely steal the show. I believe they are half bloods that D has forged paperwork to hide. The neighbors end up kind of “grangersitting” H while D is gone all day (D is a death eater). One of them is a chef and teaches H to cook. His name is something like Brett or Brione or something like that. He’s one of the most beloved OCs. As far as the criteria for this recommendation list, while D is a death eater, most of the action happens outside the death eater realm in the relative safety of the apartment, so probably wouldn’t hit that button of showcasing death eater Draco, although I love the juxtaposition of the two worlds D lives in where he has designed this sanctuary in the muggle world with these refugee friends. Anyone know the title?
cruel and beautiful world by lena phoria 💌 i wanted to love it soooooo bad and it was going so well for me up until one point 🥹 it was my dnf 😭 you remind me to go back and give it a go 🥹
Oh, wow, thank you! No wonder I couldn’t find it by any searching method I tried, as it’s hard to find-I thought I was going crazy. I loved some of those moments-washing her hair-and I really did fall in love with those OCs. I have them tucked away on a little bookshelf in my mind along with Grant from All the Young Dudes.
This book gave me a roller coaster of emotions. I actually had to put it away for a couple of months before picking it back up to finish it. I was terrified of the outcome 😬 but ended up giving it 4.5 ⭐️’s.
