The amount of talent we've lost due to drugs, depression and other mental health issues is heartbreakingly sad. I miss Kurt, Layne, and Chris. Great song and reaction.
Chris has sung a lot of heavy-hitting songs throughout his career, but the ones that hit the personal sadness of others are the heaviest ones. I don't know who organized it, but there was an Audioslave autobiography DVD or whatever (in the band's active era, so between 2001 and 2006), and they had Tim (the bassist) talk about his experiences with Chris. I guess they asked him about this song specifically, and Tim said that he assumed the song was about a man waiting to join his wife in the afterlife, but he asked Chris about it and he said it was about a man waiting to die. Tim then went on to say that he went back and listened to his other work and started understanding the things Chris was really writing about. And, for me personally, I've seen that over the time that I've gone and listened to everything he did with Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, and Audioslave particularly. Maybe not all of his songs are deeply personal, but you can see it in the ones that are. And I have a few recommendations for other, similar songs to this one you might like to hear: "Say Hello 2 Heaven" by Temple of the Dog (written about his grunge era friend and fellow singer, Andrew Wood, who OD'd on heroin, and TOTD was more or less made to honor Andy Wood) "Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog, with vocals by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam (the song isn't necessarily about him personally, but it's a really heartfelt song) "Mind Riot" by Soundgarden (this was also a song inspired by what happened to Andy Wood) "The Day I Tried To Live" by Soundgarden (a lot of people think this song is about suicide, but Chris has said in different interviews that the song is about those days where you try to do something and it doesn't work out, and all you can do is try again tomorrow) "Like Suicide" by Soundgarden (this song isn't about suicide either, Chris has said that he wrote it in reference to the time a bird flew into his window and he had to mercy-kill it because it was too injured to survive) "Blow Up The Outside World" by Soundgarden (I don't know exactly what Chris said the meaning of the song is, but the lyrics sound like the feeling of depression and wanting to shut off from the world) "Burden In My Hand" by Soundgarden (this one is about a man who kills his girlfriend in the desert and comes to regret doing so) "Halfway There" by Soundgarden "I Am The Highway" by Audioslave "Your Time Has Come" by Audioslave "Out Of Exile" by Audioslave "Be Yourself" by Audioslave "Doesn't Remind Me" by Audioslave "Until We Fall" by Audioslave "Sound Of A Gun" by Audioslave (based on the lyrics, this song is about the tragedy of mass shootings and all the people who were dying because of the War on Iraq, since it was around the mid-2000s) I may have listed way too many recommendations, partly because I have listened to virtually all of them and the albums they're from, and because they're all emotional or relevant songs that a lot of people relate to. I haven't listened to much of his solo stuff, but it's worth checking out nonetheless.
For another Audioslave song, i'd recommend "Show me How to Live." For a Soundgarden song, id recommend "Outshined." For a solo Chris song, I'd recommend "Sunshower. And for a Temple of the Dog song, I'd recommend "Say Hello 2 Heaven."
1 of the greatest vocalist's to have picked up a microphone from any era. The man is greatly missed by his family and fans. It is a great thing that he can be remembered or discovered by new fans through channels like your own that draw new eyes to the talent he shared with the world ❤
That final guitar riff in this song perfectly represents a person beginning to cry, continuing to grow in that deep sadness, then wail and lose all emotions with screams and then continue to cry at a lower range with the emotion of defeat. Unbelievable foreshadowing considering with what we all know now. And the last chord talking about his regrets, his blessings given, and his harm caused is more than poetic. It’s incredibly relatable in each person’s reflections of their own life. RIP CHRIS
Audioslave was a proper "Supergroup". You had Chris Cornell from Soundgarden with Tom Morello (guitarist), Tim Commerford (bassist), and Brad Wilk (drummer) from Rage Against the Machine. Magic. If you want classic Chris Cornell, check out Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun"
Yes, Chris had some solo stuff. He came into the spotlight with SoundGarden in the late 80's. SoundGarden is a pretty decent rabbit hole to dive into. There was also Temple Of The Dog in the 90's(only 1 album I believe, but it was GOOD). Where he sang alongside Eddie Veder. Their voices REALLY complimented each other. Then there's Audioslave. Enjoy "discovering" Chris Cornell. He was one HELL of a talent. May he Rest In Peace. 😞 Your reaction was fantastic. I enjoyed watching you "discover" Chris, I was almost envious. First time I heard him in 1989, was a DAMN treat. Keep up the GREAT work and enjoy the ride of this particular rabbit hole. 🤘🤘🤘
My favorite bands from the late 80's, early 90's .....Faith No More, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam ........among others of course. But these 3 were a step ahead with amazing lead singers.
She's going to love this song. The introduction to it...... *"This radio station was named Audioslave, in Honor of the last American Heroes to whom Speed means Freedom of the Soul. The question is, not when he's gonna stop, but who is gonna to stop him?"* 🙂😏😎
Girly, i love the way you bring life to these old songs. I remember the rise of Soundgarden, hearing like a stone on a bus for the first time, jamming out to temple of the dog, getting emotional over his cover of nothing compares 2 you, and getting sad hearing about hus passing. Mental health is a big deal. Thank you for your reactions. Thank you for the emotion. Stay awesome. ✌️🥲 May his path be clear.
So stoked that you checked this song out. This song is one that when I first heard it years ago I truly didn’t appreciate how amazing audioslave was. They were so ahead of their time, and this song means much more to me as I’ve aged. This is my fav song by audioslave by a long shot. Keep rocking on Aileen. 🤘🏻

Audioslave was a band that didn't live much, but they were really good... Great songs like Be Yourself, Show me How to Live, Cochise, etc... Great reaction!!
This is just one in many of his masterpieces, be it Audioslave, Soundgarden, with Eddy Veder and solo. His death affected me deeply. Aside from Layne Staley, his is such an expressive voice and lyrics. May they rest in peace, and may we heal in time. Thank you. Peace out
May 18,2017 was when the world lost one of the best rock artists. I was lucky enough to see and shoot photos of Chris with Soundgarden. It was amazing. RIP.😢
Oh man the feels. I turned on the sat radio and audioslave was on all the rock stations. so I sat in the truck and listened to it and was just having a great time. I remembered thinking “man lots of audioslave today this is awesome” and then the dj started in about tribute to Chris Cornell and so on and I realized that he had passed that night. Then the acoustic version of this song came on and hit me right in the chest. Felt sick for hours.
His Prince cover of Nothing Compares 2 U live Sirius is epic beauty. Temple of the Dog Hunger Strike, Say Hello 2 Heaven. Soundgarden has so much...Bulldozers and Slaves, The Day I Tried to Live, Fell on Black Days, Outshined. His solo stuff, Sunshower is beauty. Audioslave have many more but his acoustic version of their I Am The Highway is stunning.
I loved seeing your connection to his voice. In my life there very few things that can move me to tears. His cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U" is one of those things. You can feel every ounce of passion in his voice. It's one that you will never every forget.
Im glad you find this song, i enjoy it everytime to here this song again. I know that you have a passion for kind of sad songs sometimes. My favorite from Chris is with Soundgarden together: "Fell on Black Days" helped me through many very dark days and helped me figuring my inner problems. I highly recommend it. Chris own words describing it: "Fell On Black Days is the feeling of waking up one day and realizing you're not happy with your life. Nothing happened, there was no emergency, no accident, you don't know what happened. You were happy, and one day you just aren't, and you have to try to figure that out."
Aileen, so awesome to see young ones like you discovering and appreciating Chris Cornell’s genius. He is truly a transcendent talent. Just take my word, you have to have to review Hunger Strike with him and Eddie Vedder! Never did a man screaming sound so sublime. And thank you again for such an awesome review.
If you want to bawl your eyes out, I recommend the live cover of "Redemption Song" he did with his daughter about a year before his death - it's a beautiful rendition, but the loving looks they give to each other always make me cry, given the circumstances.
I've watched a bunch of your vocal analysis videos, this one and the Johnny Cash 'hurt' one. It is so moving to see someone like you appreciate music and the emotion in it. You have a real connection to music, you are one of the best to watch!
Audioslave was basically Rage with Chris instead of Zach believe it or not. That excellent solo was Tom Morello. Chris was talented but tragic, and you can hear it in his music. He was also a good friend of Chester. His music is hard to listen to now as much as I love it. Great reaction Aileen!
The reason you probably get so emotional listening to so many of these rock songs, is because they're poetry. Most of these bands, wrote, arranged and sung their own music, formed from their life experiences. That's missing in modern music, hell, most singers these days can't play an instrument, let alone write beautifully haunting lyrics like this.
From “outshined” forward this man sang my soul. A rock god. A fantastic solo artist. Any genre. Every time I hear one of his songs it brings a smile to my face and makes me sad at the same time. I grew up with him group and solo and i feel his voice in my soul.
I love his voice! I have one for you to give a try. You know my name is a song he did for James Bond movie! I had the privilege of seeing his start with Soundgarden.
Wow! That reaction was so spot on and perfect! Where have you been? You just reacted and said everything that I have felt from day one. I have watched every reaction to this song and nothing comes close to how connected and real true blue you are! Loved it !! you're amazing and thank you so much!!
Great reaction. I was lucky enough to see Soundgarden twice in the early 90’s. Chris was a generational talent to be sure. This song is incredible bit you’re just scratching the surface… there’s so much more. Enjoy the ride
That "grungy aspect" you hear is because he was at the for front of the grung scene. For more of his amazing work check out Soundgarden "Fell On Black Days" and Temple Of The Dog "Hunger Strike" "Say Hello To Heavan"
You want to see a pure rendering of his vocal talent, check out his cover of, "Nothing Compares To You" that he did live on Sirius/XM radio. No theatrics, just a guy and a microphone.
Lovely tribute. You articulated your reaction beautifully. First song I heard from Soundgarden was on their debut album - a song about the environment called HANDS ALL OVER. Incredible vocal performance. He was, to me anyhow, the voice of his generation.
Love that you're hitting Chris Cornell. I promise you'll love one of his first videos and songs. It's both Chris and Eddie Vedder. The song is Hunger Strike. It was actually Eddie's first video. Great powerful song and the vocals are sick. You're the best. ❤
Hunger strike =1 of my all time favorites. CC was roommates with Andrew Wood, whose band Mother Love Bone was set to be the 1st breakout band from Seattle, but passed before it happened. Temple of the dog is CC's band formed to honor Wood. 'temple of the dog' was from wood's lyrics.
Thank you for this reacion video, and you're true emmotions...Aileen. This music channel and hearing past songs makes my day. 🤘 Thanks for posting more reactions lately!
Being at the Fox Theater in Detroit in the 2nd row on May 17, 2017 to see Soundgarden was bittersweet. This song like many of his really resonate with me and I could see it in your face that he was having a similar effect on you. Sharing that with me made it hard for me to fight back tears that Chris seems to do to me, from time to time. RIP Chris!
This song is a lullaby of love and sadness and loss. I remember the first time I heard this song I didn’t really *hear* the lyrics except for the chorus. It took me a couple of times to hear more of what he was saying (I’m really bad about that with music) but still only understanding a few words made my heart cry. And then when I finally read all the lyrics….man. What I’m saying is, the way in which he sang this brought me such sadness and such love and took me to a place that only talented artists can carry you. I didn’t even know the words and I FELT IT. This song always makes me cry, and I’m not a touchy-feely kind of person. I don’t care for romance movies and all that. This song is romantic and tragic and lonely and desperate, I’ll take it any day over “The Notebook” or “Titanic”. This is also going to be my burial song. You can’t change my mind. 😅
Chris was an amazing talent. From Soundgarden to his solo work. His voice was one of a kind and when you watch him live, it seems so effortless. I would definitely suggest watching his acoustic cover of the Prince song "Nothing compares 2 U"
Such a great talent gone too soon. Melodic grungy vocals. Eerie and haunting like he predicted his own future. RIP Chris. Thanks for this one Aileen, I forgot how good these guys were! Love ya! 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋💋🦊🦊🦊🦊💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭
Loved your reaction and thoughts, 100% agree on it. Absolutely incredible artist, Chris Cornell. Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, solo career... Not only musical legacy, but such a bright and positive personality. True legend. Good luck on your journey exploring his music. Would recommend you songs like "Cochise", "Shadow on the Sun", "Show Me How To Live" in Audioslave, and "Slaves and Bulldozers", "Beyond The Wheel", "Spoonman" in Soundgarden. It's actually a lot of amazing songs, many more than I listed here, breathetaking live solo/band performances as well. Anything you'll decide to listen will surely make you feel emotions
What is heartwarming to know is that the bass player and backup singer ( Tim commorford) actually saved Chris Cornell for years according to Chris's wife at the time
Chris was my favorite male singer. Gotta give Tom Morello his dues on the guitar as well! Lots of talent here. Audioslave has tons of great tunes. Beautifully painful now that he has left us. Then to loose Chester Bennington on the anniversary of his death was salt in the wound. I also saw Jimi Hendrix perform live a month and a half before he left us. We are blessed that their music is still with us and still stirs us to emotions that make us feel alive. .
I Am the Highway, Be Yourself, Out Of Exile, Doesn't Remind Me, Shadow On the Sun, What You Are, Cochise, Gasoline, Show Me How To Live,.... Audioslave and SoundGarden are my favorites because Chris Cornell is my All-Time favorite singer!!!❤❤❤ Please react to Zero Chance by SoundGarden... Then, 4th of July, LimoWreck, Mailman, Pretty Noose, and Just Like Suicide, are needed reactions by you, Aileen... RIP Chris Cornell..❤❤❤
Seeing how emotional you got with the emotions that Chris sings with put a big smile on my face. That was Chris, he means a lot to music fans, he was a special artist. I'm glad I came across your video and look forward to you exploring some of his solo work as well as more Audioslave and the other bands with him. Subscribed now so I won't miss it
Knowing Chris and Chester were best friends and knowing what happened, makes it difficult to listen now but both have such unique voices. You know it’s them the second you hear their voices. RIP Chris & Chester.
This song is very haunting to listen to after his death. It's essentially about him waiting for death and Chris Cornell was known to suffer from depression, so to know years ago that he wrote a song like this about waiting for death to come and take him leaves me with a very sad feeling. The song is beautiful, but it takes on even more weight after his tragic passing. RIP Chris Cornell...such a legendary voice.
@@nsasupporter7557 def Soundgarden for me. I was listening to them when Loud Love came out. Way more hits with Soundgarden than Audioslave. Imo of course
Honestly one of the most greatest songs ever written and the performance of it was just absolutely incredible... 2 of my favorite voices in Rock lost within a few years.. RIP CHRIS CORNELL AND CHESTER BENNINGTON.
Beautiful reaction. It is so sad that that some of the best artists come from a place of pain. I think this is why their performances resonate so strongly, They sit on the fence between life and death and can draw inspiration and power from both sides. Sadly though when these artists come off the fence it seems that the majority choose the option to not go on , and without knowing each individuals story, it is not for us to judge
This song has been my hands down, no question, favorite song of all time ever since I first heard it on the radio. Between the lyrics and Chris’ passion and voice… it’s amazing. I know you reacted to Linkin Park, and loved Chester, Chris Cornell actually joined them for a live duet of Crawling, I would LOVE to see your reaction! Also, they were great friends who bonded deeply over their own pains and lives, Chester sang “Hallelujah” at his funeral when he passed, and it is very unfortunate that both of these men were unable to find the happiness they longed for in life, and cut it short. May they finally be in joyous peace that they both deserve.
Your reaction brought tears to my eyes for some reason. And yeah, you can check out the various band stuff and I've seen pretty much all of the incarnations live and they were great. Tom Morello on the guitar also makes his own effects and modifies effects. But I seriously think you should immediately hear some of his solo acoustic stuff. There are a number of them in different settings but one of the greatest is from Alive acoustic concert where it's just him and a microphone and his guitar and it is mind-blowing. Because it's acoustic like that, it really puts the spotlight on what all he can do with his voice and his emotion. It's incredible. Two of many examples from that show are You Call Me A Dog, and, As Hope and Promise Fade. There is also a fantastic live performance of him doing John Lennon's imagine. You can't miss it, there's almost kind of purple light on stage and his hair looks a little messy and he's standing there with an acoustic guitar and he just owns the audience. It's an incredible take on that iconic song. He also did the James Bond movie theme! Casino Royale. It's super high production stuff of course but it's a killer song in his singing on it is amazing. If you really want an emotional punch in the gut and something that is truly worthy, he contributed a song to a documentary about refugees in general, and in specific, I think about Syrian refugees. And so what you see in the video is a combination of him sitting in his studio with an acoustic guitar singing, and then scenes from the documentary. It truly is a gut punch, but it is so beautiful and so positive. Here is a link to the video: m.th-cam.com/video/tEpwvvyrAJU/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUZY2hyaXMgY29ybmVsbCB0aGUgcHJvbWlzZQ%3D%3D
Chris Cornell was truly one of the greatest voices in rock music history. I lament I didn't get the chance to see him live just a few days before he died. My Cornell picks: Soundgarden - Outshined Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike Solo - Nothing Compares to You. (Sinead O'Conner cover)
Glad you got to one of the GOATs! As I’m certain everyone has already commented, Chris was known more for Soundgarden than other projects….. that’s where to start IMO. Love the channel!!!!
Man, so many singers lost over the years due to many things. One thing that will always be true, Whether it's Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington, Layne Staley, and Freddie Mercury. Every single one of those amazing folks will always be remembered for the amazing talent they shared with us all and never be forgotten.
❤ There are 3 types of people that do reaction videos.(I could be culturally misunderstood) but as I see it,,, Here it goes. 1) It's a job. 2) A fun job that they're embarrassing 3 The passionate music lover that has an open mind to discovery / emulsion. You're as respectful as curiously hungry on your journey. I would love to find a lifetime culture of your responses. Regardless of your lifetime decisions, Peace & Strength as always. J
If you want your socks truly BLOWN OFF by Cornell, you should look no further than Soundgarden's Jesus Christ Pose. His vocals are INSANE on that, he delivered a genuine GOD TIER performance. Black Hole Sun, Fell On Black Days and Spoonman are also really great songs from them. As for Audioslave, Shadow On the Sun is an absolute belter too, and Cochise was a heavyweight BANGER of an opener for their debut album.
Beautiful tribute to CC. I still struggle sometimes while listening to his music. I didn't think the death of a musician could ever hit me this hard. I'm still not over it.
One of my favorite all time songs, sitting alone in a hotel room with nothing but the free Bible in the drawer, reading a book full of death, wanting to find a way to get to heaven, praying to the gods and angels like a pagan, anyone who can take me to heaven, he says to a place I recall I was there so long ago, like we all feel that we were happy once and we would do anything to be happy again, just tell us what to do, he said he didn’t wanted to exclude any religion so he wanted to have more of a polytheistic feel than monotheistic. But just the yearning to be with God (any god) that would be the path to heaven and that peace and happiness it would bring. It’s such a beautiful song, guitar solo is also amazing
Definitely, such an amazingly beautiful and haunting song, because like you said, I think we’ve all felt this way before, regardless of our religious beliefs.
Tony, the lead guitarist has said he will never recover from Chris' death. Suicide does not end the pain, it just passes it to someone else. I wish we could find what is killing so many of our middle aged men, poor, wealthy, famous or unknown.
Another amazing reaction. I am just so impressed by how in touch with the emotional narrative of a song you can get. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and insights. 🤘
One thing I really love about Chris' singing is on emotionally personal songs like this, his main intention is not necessarily just hitting "perfect high notes" to capture the audience's attention, but the power, emotion, & depth of the notes he hits that he just allows u to FEEL the song (if that makes any sense.) 😇 Anyway, great reaction & hope u dig deeper into his amazing catalog!
Truly great (nearly perfect) timing with this upload, as his passing was 6 years ago yesterday. I remember it so vividly, I was coming home with my father from a basketball game and I got the news as we pulled into our driveway. Rest in Peace to Chris Cornell, and to all those that we’ve lost, both the ones we remember and the ones we do not.
I’m not a guy to see these reaction type videos but what you say while acknowledging that you’re not an old time fan is just great and sounds genuine. Thanks
Chris was one of the best vocalist ever. It was a sad day in rock when he passed. I was never really a Rage fan, but Chris and Rage together was amazing!
Audioslave could be considered a super band. Chris Cornell was coming over from Soundgarden to join the guys from Rage Against the Machine and together they decided to make sonic changes to their sound. Audioslave stands apart from their original bands and yet it was magical. Chris was magical, captivating, and alluring. He had the ability to convey power through his raspy vocals and yet his sound was dulcet, kind, and soothing. He could demonstrate and share his pain without alarming the listener, rather he calmed and moved folks. I took his loss pretty hard when it happened and he will forever be an unforgettable figure to me. I love Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine separately and for different reasons. Audioslave was special, distinct, and very heartfelt. RIP Chris.
I'm not a big RATM fan and based on hearing him on Sirius Tom is really up his own ass. But him playing Chris was a thing of magic. The fact that his solo was standout in a song with a generational talent of a singer really shows the skill he has. This world is lessoned without Chris Cornell in it. R.I.P.
Thank you so much for letting this masterpiece play without pausing then sharing your thoughts. It made me feel as though you understood the emotions he was trying to convey. God bless you and peace be with you
My absolute favourite song, thank you so much for reacting and giving your analysis on it Aileen 🙏 You nailed it with the bass (Tim Commerford) which is such an important foundation for this song. To my ear everything runs off it, including the lead from Tom Morello and drums from Brad Wilk. These other members are interestingly the band members from Rage Against The Machine. There are some haunting lines within the lyrics to this song following Chris's passing which really strike an emotional chord now. For some suggestions on Chris's solo work, would recommend Nothing Compares To You (live radio studio performance), Billy Jean (live) and Patience (if you watch the song's music video it will be quite emotional as it shows a lot of photos of Chris from his past). RIP Chris 🙏
Chris sang EVERY WORD I wish I could have said, admitted to myself, said to another.. I counted him as a friend for 35 years, because it seemed like he knew my pain.
The best concert I have ever attended was Cornell. The setlist had solo stuff, Audio Slave, and Soundgarden. Such a fantastic experience! And I've seen some traditional greats: Rolling Stones, Eagles, Aerosmith, and so on.
So glad you found Chris Cornell and plan on checking out more of his music! Like you, I'm really regretting I was not more into his music when he was younger. His music spanned. through the late 80s on through the 2000s... with his solo work and reuniting with previous bands. His later stuff really impresses me with his depth of songwriting, and his ability to adapt his vocals as he grew older ..... a lot of his older stuff incluing some of his live performances just blows me away completely when I go back and see it now... songs like Beyond the wheel, Slaves and Bulldozers, and some songs from his "Temple of the Dog " days , which was just before Sound Garden. Please do more! you got so much variety to choose from, I cant even advise you where to start
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists. Knowing a bit of Chris's story this is both beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. RIP, Chris.

Maybe not all of his songs are deeply personal, but you can see it in the ones that are.
And I have a few recommendations for other, similar songs to this one you might like to hear:
"Say Hello 2 Heaven" by Temple of the Dog (written about his grunge era friend and fellow singer, Andrew Wood, who OD'd on heroin, and TOTD was more or less made to honor Andy Wood)
"Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog, with vocals by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam (the song isn't necessarily about him personally, but it's a really heartfelt song)
"Mind Riot" by Soundgarden (this was also a song inspired by what happened to Andy Wood)
"The Day I Tried To Live" by Soundgarden (a lot of people think this song is about suicide, but Chris has said in different interviews that the song is about those days where you try to do something and it doesn't work out, and all you can do is try again tomorrow)
"Like Suicide" by Soundgarden (this song isn't about suicide either, Chris has said that he wrote it in reference to the time a bird flew into his window and he had to mercy-kill it because it was too injured to survive)
"Blow Up The Outside World" by Soundgarden (I don't know exactly what Chris said the meaning of the song is, but the lyrics sound like the feeling of depression and wanting to shut off from the world)
"Burden In My Hand" by Soundgarden (this one is about a man who kills his girlfriend in the desert and comes to regret doing so)
"Halfway There" by Soundgarden
"I Am The Highway" by Audioslave
"Your Time Has Come" by Audioslave
"Out Of Exile" by Audioslave
"Be Yourself" by Audioslave
"Doesn't Remind Me" by Audioslave
"Until We Fall" by Audioslave
"Sound Of A Gun" by Audioslave (based on the lyrics, this song is about the tragedy of mass shootings and all the people who were dying because of the War on Iraq, since it was around the mid-2000s)
I may have listed way too many recommendations, partly because I have listened to virtually all of them and the albums they're from, and because they're all emotional or relevant songs that a lot of people relate to. I haven't listened to much of his solo stuff, but it's worth checking out nonetheless.
Chris and Tom together was like some sort of magical connection. Two virtuosos of their craft.
For another Audioslave song, i'd recommend "Show me How to Live."
For a Soundgarden song, id recommend "Outshined."
For a solo Chris song, I'd recommend "Sunshower.
And for a Temple of the Dog song, I'd recommend "Say Hello 2 Heaven."
Those songs always gets mentioned, and they are great songs, but Cochise never gets mentioned.😢
Yeah, Cochise is always my go-to recommendation for Audioslave. I dare anyone to sit still while listening to that song.
@@vikingreflections2824 Yes yes, Cochise is a very good song. but what about ''Nearly forgot my broken heart'' or ''You know my name'' ?
I Am the Highway

AUDIOSLAVE is one of the greatest ROCK band names ever. When the guys from RAGE brought in Chris, they formed one hell of a SUPERGROUP! ✌️
In my view of the world, they were the pinnacle of rock music. Nothing before or after has reached the level that they did.
I actually think it’s a terribly corny name. Good thing they make great music!
Cornell's James Bond theme song "You Know My Name" is absolutely amazing.
I'm soooooo glad u got to finally savor the essence that was Chris Cornell one of my childhood heros....dive into some Soundgarden next Aileen!!!💯💯👏😁

Definitely. The Day I Tried To Live. That's the one.
Blackhole Sun is a good start for Soundgarden!
RIP Chris Cornell
The question is, not when he's gonna stop, but who is gonna to stop him?"* 🙂😏😎
All that. Temple of the Dog is a must listen. It is all must listen.
Dude. Sunshower.
SHADOW on the Sun!
✌️🥲
May his path be clear.
His acoustic cover of Nothing Compares 2 You is incredible.
OLD SONGS....this track is still being weaned its that young :)
Good stuff! The 90s the last decade of quality music.
Soundgarden is one of my all time favorite bands. Please check out Fell On Black Days
Chris own words describing it:
"Fell On Black Days is the feeling of waking up one day and realizing you're not happy with your life.
I’ve always said, Chris Cornell could scream better than just about anyone.
Realizing this, left me at an awe that will echo through eternity
He has such an amazing voice. So melancholy
Enjoy the ride
one of rocks greatest voices! ♥
Chris was incredible. Audioslave have many great tunes. Good work Aileen ❤️
One of the best voices of modern music.
wow thanks
The members of Audioslave confirmed years before Chris died that he wrote this song about waiting for death.
@ I totally believe that. I hate it when the really talented artists forecast their own deaths. Why can’t they be wrong?
Awhile to saw one of those reactions to this song and they couldn't stop crying. That song has so much meaning.
"When I'm Down" at the Troubadour. Not only a great showcase of Chris's voice, but it's like a look into his soul. Jaw dropping.

Van Girsbergen has an amazing acoustic of thus !!
Yes to all of these songs! I'd add "I Am the Highway", "Be Yourself", and "Doesn't Remind Me" to this steady Audioslave diet!
We are blessed that their music is still with us and still stirs us to emotions that make us feel alive.
.
Not on anniversary, Chester passed just 2 months snd 2 days later! It was on Chris’ birthday, not his death day, that Chester passed
I love how you can vibe with a song. Not only do connect with the lyrics, but you also connect with the music. Keep up the great work, Alieen. 😊👍
RIP Chris & Chester.
r.i.p legend the best of all time
This song is very haunting to listen to after his death.
Which of his band did you like better Soundgarden or Audioslave?
Sadly though when these artists come off the fence it seems that the majority choose the option to not go on , and without knowing each individuals story, it is not for us to judge
...and by no means is this about just singers, it affects actors and especially comedians.
If you really want to hear him show off his voice: The Day I Tried to Live by Soundgarden.
Here is a link to the video:

Chris Cornell was truly one of the greatest voices in rock music history. I lament I didn't get the chance to see him live just a few days before he died.
My Cornell picks:
Soundgarden - Outshined
Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike
Solo - Nothing Compares to You. (Sinead O'Conner cover)
Glad you got to one of the GOATs! As I’m certain everyone has already commented, Chris was known more for Soundgarden than other projects….. that’s where to start IMO. Love the channel!!!!
My favorite male voice. Anything you react to be it Soundgarden or Audioslave, or Temple of the Dog or solo stuff I'm so there for it. ❤👍
Chris Cornell was I Soundgarden. Also you should hear his version of Billie Jean from Michael Jackson 👍👍
Thank you Aileen, this one is definitely a banger.
I never clicked on a video so fast 😂
❤❤❤❤
❤ There are 3 types of people that do reaction videos.(I could be culturally misunderstood) but as I see it,,, Here it goes.
1) It's a job.
2) A fun job that they're embarrassing
3 The passionate music lover that has an open mind to discovery / emulsion.
That guitar solo will always be in my top 5. I admired it the first time hearing it as a kid, and I admire it for life🙏🏼👑
Beautiful tribute to CC. I still struggle sometimes while listening to his music. I didn't think the death of a musician could ever hit me this hard. I'm still not over it.
Three celebrity deaths that actually hit me hard; Robin Williams, Chester Bennington, and Chris Cornell. I'm right there with you!
I still wonder how I fell in love with someone I never knew.
RIP Chris Cornell. Thanks for leaving a legacy for everyone to appreciate. He's immortal now.
Aileen ❤❤
RIP Chris Cornell the best vocalist to ever grace this marble we call Earth ! 😢😢
I love hearing Chris and Chester singing together...the heartbreak of it now but they sang so beautifully
Tony, the lead guitarist has said he will never recover from Chris' death. Suicide does not end the pain, it just passes it to someone else. I wish we could find what is killing so many of our middle aged men, poor, wealthy, famous or unknown.
Amazing vocalist. Audioslave is ok, but his early Soundgarden is where it’s at!
Audioslave (Chris overall) was fantastic.
He had such a great mix of a voice, so smooth and gritty at the same time R.I.P 🎶
This album is one of the very few perfect albums I've ever heard. Every song is great!
God bless you and peace be with you
My absolute favourite song, thank you so much for reacting and giving your analysis on it Aileen 🙏
You nailed it with the bass (Tim Commerford) which is such an important foundation for this song.
RIP Chris 🙏
Thank you. You did a great reaction to one of my favorite songs growing up. When this song first played on the radio I lost my mind too.
Chris sang EVERY WORD I wish I could have said, admitted to myself, said to another.. I counted him as a friend for 35 years, because it seemed like he knew my pain.
Definitely should check out some of his stuff from Soundgarden, preferably off the Badmotorfinger album. Dudes voice could tear the paint off walls…
The best concert I have ever attended was Cornell. The setlist had solo stuff, Audio Slave, and Soundgarden. Such a fantastic experience! And I've seen some traditional greats: Rolling Stones, Eagles, Aerosmith, and so on.
I'm glad you decided to do this video the song hits really deep with me
So glad you found Chris Cornell and plan on checking out more of his music!
RIP, Chris.
God your reactions make me honestly choke back tears , you’re reactions are so honest and it’s so appreciated
Shadow on the Sun is another amazing Audioslave song. It always resonated with me deeply.
