  • Beautiful time-lapse of a cornflower blue (Bachelor's Button), growing from a seed to blossoms. A bachelor button seed was sown in a pot with potting-mix. With regularly watering, the seedling shown up after a week and growing steadily. Buds appearred from the 40th day and bloomed into blue flowers. The color is turning to purple eventually. Near the end, our cornflower plant reach 3ft tall bushy and had lots more flowers.

“Time lapse photography” - remember the first time you saw it? I do - in a Disney nature film. Those of us 'of an age' can remember being stunned to see something like this unfolding before our eyes. Coincidentally (or not) I'd just been thinking: “It's 2023 and scientists still don't know what 'Life' is. I mean, a living cell and one freshly dead are, by any scientific measure, identical. And yet . . . one is 'animated' by something we don't understand.
Just happened upon this, while researching “cornflowers” - after wondering “What flowers are those? in a beautiful 'hillside' photo shared this day (with a favorite Biblical quote) by Mike Huckabee. Another everyday miracle. This one took 77 days to capture.

U know, I tried cornflower on good soil and it doesn’t sprout at all. Until I throw them onto poor construction soil and now they sprout beautifully. Maybe they like Aussie dry and acidic soil? 😅
