I've been having trouble assigning a drum setting to the pads and synth to the keys so that both can be triggered and looped in Live session? Can you do a tutorial on this?
Your video saved me from losing my mind haha. I could not get my MIDI mapped to saved my life until I found you video, ANND it helped you had the same exact model. Definitely subscribed and looking forward to future videos.
Thank you for the video. I have a Korg Pa600, PC Laptop, Ableton live 12 lite. I hooked up the keyboard by USB to the laptop. But Ableton did not see the Keyboard as MIDI. How can I do it?
Thank you! This was so helpful. I am having trouble actually hearing sound when I press a key on my MPK mini, even though it is plugged in, and Live is open... Any thoughts? I will also do some research...
Great stuff, thanks! Just getting my APK 249 working with Ableton. This helps. (Of course you skipped the basics (InMusic account, registration, software installs to get physical connectivity so PNP works) but Akai did cover that well. (Was just plugging into my MPCX SE). I now have several virtual synths so this is helpful. Is mapping transport controls the same process? Any tips or tricks there? Thanks!
Help with M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 Mk3 in Ableton 10.0.3 I recently picked this up used, does anybody know if this works in Ableton 10? When I go into preferences, it shows up in input, output and the midi port for both input and output. However, I can't seem to find it in control surface. If anybody has any tips on how to get this working to play my plugins I would really appreciate it. I've never used it midi before so there is a good chance I'm doing something very basic wrong.
I cannot get rid of latency on my akai mpk249. runnning more than enough on PC specs according to ableton and drums are off time. Tried ASIO4All Drivers and also im running through USB direct to PC with the MPk249 which is supposed to be better than through interace.
The Midi isn't reading. Not sure what else I can try and would truly appreciate advice. It isn't blinking in the midi channel or top right corner; I have been looking for videos but everything I find simply says that they can't help in that video. lol I found my device on the control surfaces but don't know how to get it to come through
all i'm getting is audio from this video showing in my ableton channel strip. But no midi signal even showing on ableton top right midi signal indicator. Also, when I go to choose which to check in track/sync/remote/MPE (Live 11) the first instance for my keystation 49 mk3 is in red lettering. Also, under the choices for devices, I only need to select midi ins as it's just a note input, and pitch/octave I need it for. However, I am giving two choices for input (and output if needed) which are kaystation 49 mk3, and for keystation mk3 port 2. What do I do hear? The keystation has previously worked with this laptop with both usb connectors i have for it. And I don;t even particularly remember doing any setup to speak of. This time around I'm pulling my hair off and looking for a HIGH CLIFF!
great tutorial.I am new to midi keyboard and would like to know everything.Where do I start please. Also want to incorporate midi into our church worship.
so, i have a subzero commandkey25 plugged into my laptop, ableton identifies it, track and remote enabled, but the keyboard of the computer is still what ableton is using, no sounds from midi controller
Updating my museum quality equipment from the 90's. I have a Alesis v49, have actually worked everything out but have 2 keys sticking together in every octave ( d and e flat). I would welcome your suggestion. Great video!
Isnt it better to hook your keyboard into an audio interface then your computer? If so how do you hook up a midi keyboard controller that only has a USB jack to an audio interface?
This isn't working for me. My faders are not responding even though midi keyboard is synced? I can assign an instrument to the keys but the faders are not responding as in this video and I can't seem to assign anything to the pads?
Hi Jacob Great course With my Midi keyboard connected and track is armed - when i press Midi on ableton, the drum pads in the drum rack are not highlighted for some reason. Other parameters in the drum rack are highlighted though. So, I cannot seem to map any of the ableton drum pads to my MIDI. Can you please help
Ableton doesn't seem to recognize my Roland JV-30. Is there some setting I need to do in Ableton so it can be recognized? Let me know. Thanks. By the way, your video is good.
I fixed it. Since I'm new to this, I realize the In gets plugged into the Out and visa versa. Now I'm trying to get it to record my playing on the keyboard
Can I use my digital piano from Yamaha as a midi keyboard? It has in and out midi ports. I don’t necessarily want to record piano, but for example drum lines. Thank you!
Hey so, I'm using a Midi Keyboard (mine is an m-audio keystation 49), i have plugin's i like for it, (basic one is mini grand), but when i record with it, how do i set it to record the changes to notes that my sustain pedal makes? It seems like the midi channel just records the notes as they are hit even though the monitor reflects the sustain.
Hi Jacob, this was so useful. Thank you very much. Question: do the custom midi mappings remain when everything has been switched off or does it have to be redone each time?
Hey Dan! The mappings will remain with the project! So as long as the project is saved the mappings will save. So I recommend mapping things where you want them and then saving that project as a sort of a “template” to build your other projects on!
Video is helpful but, to be honest I would have never bought an AKAI MPK261 if I knew it was going to be this difficult. I thought the whole point of a synth is to screw around with it, experiment with it and then eventually get the hang of it and figure it out. None of that is happening for me. This thins will not even work. All it does is light up that it, no sounds, not able to play it nothing.
Man, I bought ableton and midi keyboard, I wanted to learn how to enter my notes to abelton and edit them, I still dont know how to use a MIDI keyboard

11:20 a motorize fader would be nice to follow the adjustment what you made in the software and vice versa.
Thak you so much. this is the only good setup video on ableton thank you again!
whow that intro music sounds awesome!
I'm not seeing that there is an Live button to click for the settings you're talking about. I'm on Ableton Lite. Is that different?
Thank you for making this video.
Can I use two controllers? And can I do splitting on both controllers?
Greetings from locust, NC neighbor!

Use drum rack
@@InfancyForever would you mind explaining to us the best you can!

Hi Jacob. I just want to say thank you. This video is very informative and helped me a lot.
Thank you! This was so helpful. I am having trouble actually hearing sound when I press a key on my MPK mini, even though it is plugged in, and Live is open... Any thoughts? I will also do some research...

Thank you so much for your help brother!
Really helpful explanation thank you
I cannot wait to do my first midi recording!
very helpful! Still deciding between my MPK261 and buying a Push 2 to control Ableton. Your explainations were very valuable for me.

Jacob, i have an old Krog Triton Le, can i use it as midi on ableton? do i need something else to make it work? Thanks
Brilliant. Thank you. I understand a lot better now.
Nice tutorial. But after all do you have to save a template for Ableton? Your mapping settings will reset if you don't do that?
one of the best tutorials on TH-cam thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
so, i have a subzero commandkey25 plugged into my laptop, ableton identifies it, track and remote enabled, but the keyboard of the computer is still what ableton is using, no sounds from midi controller
kinda late but could you assign each pad on an akai mini to pads that are in a drum rack on Ableton..?
Thanks for video!

This was a big help - BTW, I am an OVERSTREET too. Our clan came from Virginia - we are currently in South Carolina USA
helpful as .... nice job

Hi can we asset the "touchpad" buttons to switch between the instruments ?
hi. alesis vi25 to ableton tutorial please. thank you
Wait, how do I let the actual keyboard give out sound through the Ableton disk?
Do you need a specific edition of abelton to connect your midi keyboard ?
Thank you 🙏

If its got midi then yes you can use it as a standard controller.
very good. Thanks!!
It all made sense but how to get low latency while playing a midi keyboard?
This didn’t help. I’m having some trouble with my Akai MPD218 setup
I did everything like you but it didn’t work please help me!
I have the exact same keyboard and it isn’t appearing in the preferences on ableton live 10, don’t suppose you know why this could be?
Just try reconnecting or trying another printer cable.
Hi Jacob. amazing and useful video ! is there a tip to put the fader all the way up on the controller but reaching 0db on ableton? regards
Awesome lesson.. mine still doesn't receive midi messages tho
I unplugged and replugged midi cable...works great!
MPK 49 only shows in control surface
Thank you very much for this, Very clean how you put the midi in view along w/ Ableton. very Helpful.
So good!!! Thanks, I just picked up the MPK249 today and was wondering how to best configure it to work with Ableton for our Worship services.

When you hooked your Akai MPK 249, what type of USB cable did you use?
A standard printer cable.
thank you this was an amazing tutorial!!
I got midi cable to go from my keyboard to interface, should i have just done usb straight to computer, is there a benefit going to my interface
Thanks
This video is great! I don't know why this video has so much dislikes ;;;
I was expecting to see how to input notes with the controller into the Abelton software, and not so much time spent with 'minor' features.
i cant get anything to work. connected keylab49 to laptop turned on midi controller in abelton still cant get this crap to work :-(

Too much talk, create a sound with d midi damn
OK now what about how to actually use the keyboard

Waaaaaaaaaay too long intro. Maybe make a separate video about your church activities or at least time stamp where the tutorial starts please.
Thanks
