I see Tom Curry played for Sale against Saints at the weekend and played well and Lawes is nearly fit. Borthwick is going to have more options over the coming weeks. I'd love to see a back 5 of Ludlum, Willis, Curry, Lawes and Itoje. I know there's not a out and out 8 but, any of those 3 flankers can play 8.

Unless the tackling improves especially from the backs, the Welsh will beat us easily.

No way are Wales beating us easily. Defence was far improved from the Scottish game. We pushed them back on multiple occasions. Don’t forget that Sinfield has only had a few weeks to work on things, there’s a fallow week between now and Wales. If we keep improving we’ll be fine.

Very good game on the weekend, and nice to see some improvements on the field and some new players.
Not sure if I’m the only questioning this though, but Owens conversion / penalty kicks have been quite off recently (even at club games)? He never used to miss many, and now we have multiple misses per game. A simple fall in form maybe?

    • @crystallineentity

It’s good to hear from you. You are probably a good person to ask regarding the assault on Kyle Sinckler’s face from the Italian prop.
I’m aware that Kyle was the tackler, but it was obvious, that the guy being tackled thrust his shoulder into his face with intent, and it did quite a bit of damage.
I am of the opinion that there is no difference in the potential head damage, whether you be the tackler or the tackled person, and therefore some refereeing discernment is important at such points.
If you can, I would be interested to hear back regarding a current players point of view.

Although I have a great deal of respect for Owen Farrell, his game is evolving to the point where he is slowly becoming a hindrance. Marcus Smith has good speed and is skilled at taking advantage of defensive flaws.

I disagree if you've watch Farnell play in the premiership he's been alot more attacking focused he's just more of a ten to organise and put other players in space/ holes from lines they run. I think smith struggles to control games at premiership level which is then further exposed at international. I can see him being dropped from the match day team when ford's fully fit.

England again tried to combine quality rugby with cheating rugby which Eddie Jones taught them - disgusting mentality and Borthwick is carrying on with it - also in previous match v Scotland. England for years will do anything illegal to win !!!
Especially in line-outs got away with "murder" where two players entered every time behind the jumper - not allowed, obstruction! This gave them with rolling malls so much unfair forward momentum. Scoring two tries like this plus a penalty try. Had they been penalized it would have been a totally different game. Ref James Doleman (NZ) scandalously cheated Italy !!! But this is also for years NZ rugby mentality!!!
