[87-88] Coventry City 2 Spurs 1 - FA Cup Replay?...

Back in the days when a BBC Acorn calculated the fixture list, Coventry played Spurs in the league on the opening day of the 1987-88 season, just a few months after the Cup final.
So, in an FA Cup 'Replay' (and just to prove it was no fluke...), Coventry won again with Speedie scoring on his league debut and Downs making it two.
Spurs pulled one back though Gary Mabbutt (and with beautiful irony via a deflection (probably off a defender's knee...), but it finished 2-1.
Can't believe we didn't parade the Cup... ;p

Despite this first day of the season loss,.... things looked hopeful for a top 6 finish for Tottenham for a few weeks - until Pleat quit and Gough left.

Missed the opening words but of the presenter @ 0:00 - but was that about Tottenham/Spurs being Championship contenders according to bookies? Like wtf? It was one of Spurs worst teams ever!
