His Spider-Man run was just great-fun stories with high powered artwork on every page. When you look at the book now-(and most comics out today I might add) it's got nice fancy pages and computerized coloring but it also seems sort of lifeless with no energy. He's also right about it being very hard to just get into a monthly comic now because it's all set up for the trade.

It was great to reread his run before this interview. You nailed it, they were a ton of fun.
