I like Richard Oakes, he's arguably the least conspicuous member of the band but he did a great job coming in after Bernard. The guitar really crys and sings here!
I actually think this version is far better than the album version, the guitars add more of a dark, mysterious quality. Seeing them live in 1993 made me buy a guitar, Bernard is still my favorite guitarist by a long shot - but my own style is a lot more like Oakes: a lot more Post-Punk and less guitar hero blues. -Jules
Been a Sude Fan since the Suede album .. and yes this album was not as dark but this song ..would have fit right into the "Dog Man Star" album, which in my humble view ..is the best Suede album ever...
i have been looking for the live version of this song from this tour forever. i remember seeing it in san francisco and losing it over how wonderful it was.
Great song from a great band! Just finished reading Brett Anderson 's excellent autobiography Coal Black Mornings. Loved it, and hope there's a follow-up?
The arrangement Richard uses in the live version makes 'picnic by the motorway' an absolute brilliant lesson in guitar arpeggio.... Does anyone know if this version is available for download on itunes?
oh god, his voice is awful in this song... but really this song isn't that easy too... coming Up, best Suede album, so underrated by "old" Suede fans...
brett desafina bastante en esta coplicada y bella cancion.en la version d estudio se aprecia lo increible de la melodia,la voz y la guitarra, aqui se le va un poco la verdad.
And there goes another orphan. Get over it, suede has proven that they still had a lot to create after Bernard quit. And he’s done a wonderful job as a solo artist as well, “friends and lovers” is wonderful. Suede would become boring as hell with him still there. The guitar solos were becoming the main thing in the songs.
awful version!!!! the guitar arrangements are horrible and too loud for this song, and the vocals... uff I love this band but he can´t sing in this video. I will go back to the studio version right now to erase this disgusting sound of my head!!!!!!!!!
Guitars sound much better here. This is what a guitar band is supposed to sound like before Ed Buller gets his hand on the songs. And this is what it sounds like when you have to try and replicate the silly pinky and perky effect Ed puts on your voice in the studio.
The guitars are good here. Wont change anything abt this performance. If U want a polished sound, u shd go and listen to One Direction or some manufactured stuff. Richard Oakes is brilliant.
This was the first piece of music Richard ever wrote for Suede. What an awesome way to start ❤

He's pretty great.
I'm not gay, but the way Neil Codling stares into the camera turns me on
I have watched this SOO many times. Such a beautiful performance of my favourite Suede song.
I love Bretts voice more here than the album one, and the way he preforms it is Just HOT. Also the guitar is amazing
Richard é um óptimo guitarrista. Top
Best band ever indeed...so underrated...viva Suede!!!

Awesome
Omg nooo the iconic hair 🥺😔
nice performance
love you breet
damn!!!
great intro, fellers
I wish I could sound like Brett at the beginning of this tune, whenever I have to utter the words: "I'm so sorry."
I like Brett`s Proud Boys shirt 😁
Fucking smokes! Love.
1:25 wtf did someone throw something at Brett?
I thought I saw something too. I don't know what drives some people to do that. Why attend if they're not fans?
Yeah some people are just disrespectful:/
Some of them used to throw gifts as well, such as rings or necklaces. Maybe he was hit by something like this.
Probably gobbed on him.
Watch, you'll see Brett toss an ear plug in the crowd. The chav threw it back at him. Typical German show.
Richard teach me to play right the guitar please..
@bombast07 don't worry about it, just Neil's effect in you.

super pjesma ali intro mi je najdraži dio; sjetan, opušten i osjećajan...
Nope. Sorry. Not anywhere near as good as anything on either of the first 2 albums. The post Bernard stuff is hit and miss.

I agree the guitar is a bit louder than the rest, but the execution is fantastic.
