- We’ve never seen so many beautiful cruising dinghies in such a small place!
We went to Macleay Island, itself a dinghy cruising destination, to see a Welsford Navigator, a Scruffie Stornoway and a Lillistone Phoenix.
Macleay island is a spectacular getaway in Moreton Bay, Qld, just a 20 minute ferry ride from Redland Bay. Many of its residents are Tindarra Sailors and wooden boat association members, who very kindly welcomed us into their homes to see their extraordinary collection of beautiful cruising dinghies.
They even meant the kids afloat some kayaks to explore the cultural and natural wonders of this beautiful place.
Thanks to Ian, John and Ivan for opening their homes to our enthusiasm and chaos.
We can’t wait to see you on the water!

Pug is definitely the way to go, you will get a lot use with her without the maintenance, fantastic little boat ⛵
She sure seems very capable!
Fantastic Day out! Lots of little boats!
Yes it was! It was a real privilege to be able to see them up close.
Nice can't wait to get up there and you show us around, cheers Paul
We would love that so much! I can’t convince the kids to manage the drive for the post Easter RAID so I won’t see you there, sadly. I hope we can catch up one day soon.
Yes a agree with Josh go for the Navigator and then you two can have a race.
I’ve only ever sailed beside Josh once, with our two children, in two herons. It was one of the most beautiful memories I’ve had in recent years.
If it were ever possible to sail beside my friend again like that, I would jump at the chance in a moment.
Mmm, Ivan’s navigator….🤔
Does Trim need a facelift ;) or a cuddy lift??? I mean, if you’re painting the inside anyways…
