    Russia wasn't asking for independence for Donbass . They were asking for temporary autonomy and a plan for the reintegration of Eastern Ukraine back into the Ukrainian government.
    Putin didn't want Eastern Ukraine . He wanted those regjons to remain part of Ukraine as long as they had equal rights and Language rights with Donbass eventually coming back under full control of Ukraine.
    The only territory Russia wanted to keep was Crimea.

    In regards the Civil War bit, it was not some grand crusade to end slavery. Every other country in the western hemisphere was able end slavery without a massive war killing their own citizens. The civil war was fought over money just like every other war.

    • @patrickdoss25
      @patrickdoss25 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      It’s the same thing. Slavery has always been about money. When the Northern states wanted to abolish slavery the South was against it because it would wreck their economy because a lot of their wealth was dependent on slave labor.

      I’ve been reading more “out of the box” history books & it’s clear this is so true. Much more complex. And Lincoln was quite tyrannical, shutting down newspapers & speech opposing the war. And what was done to south by Union army was in many instances war crimes.

      @@TheMysteryDriver yeah if you don’t have to pay your workers to produce your goods then you make 100% more profit than you would have if you had to pay them for the hours and labor they contributed. They reasons the South made so much money from their plantations was that they didn’t have to pay their slaves. That’s the whole purpose of buying slaves: you don’t have to pay them for their labor. And this a-hole who posted this comment is trying to subtlety dismiss the reasons of why the American civil war was fought. He is doing a low effort recreation of holocaust denial by trying to argue that the civil war wasn’t fought over slavery.

    taylor swift nowadays is generally just incredibly bland, but it used to be that she also played the guitar offensively badly. I think she's been primarily just singing in recent years, but I'm not going to check. she sings decent for a pop star (though I also seem to recall her being quite pitchy), but she used to accompany most of her songs with this incredibly monotone dynamics-free aggressive quasi-constant strumming that wasn't even in the real of professional performance, even after 10 or 15 years of a guitar-accompanying singing career. average for a private camp fire, not good enough for busking, borderline passable for two songs at a pub open mic. I mean it's normal and acceptable for self-accompanying singers to play only extremely basic guitar arrangements while singing, but she would play totally expressionless, almost entirely lacking variations in volume or accents, which made it beyond useless.

Research its evolution into it's current commercialized, hypersexualized, degenerate state and tell us what you find... Especially when you consider that at the same time Hip-Hop begins taking a dive coincides almost too perfectly with the crack/cocaine epidemic within poor black communities. Beautiful statute, isn't it? The truth is that most laws created to protect against tyranny are window dressing to keep people living under a false sense of security. Try applying these statutes in the real world and quickly find out how laws are for you, not them.

    In 1971 my family and I { aged 5 } visited Atlanta, Georgia. There was howlingly racist stuff for sale, before one even exited the airport - such as dolls and figurines depicting black people, as anyone familiar with American Southern crap of this sort can imagine. A fews ago, I encountered a young, Southern { white } woman who professed that the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery. Until 1978, the fanciful "history" books published by The Daughters Of The Confederacy, depicting happy slaves, were still used in public schools in the American South.

      You would never see a black person in Boston's Italian North End or Southie Boston. It's ugly and all over the place.

    We must ensure we never become accustomed to; the US leadership is happy for the Ukraine war to continue because they are making money, and it's not their lives in peril.

    Swift wrote a number one hit sitting in sixth grade science class. Teardrops on my guitar or Tim mcgraw I can't remember. I think it's safe to say you're musical opinion is irrelevant to 90% of those who will be listening to and making music in the future
    Is Taylor's voice better than Beyonce, no of course not. Does Taylor make music more people like to listen to? Check the stats. Must popular musician since Michael Jackson and Elvis

      The volume of people who like a thing is not a direct indicator of a thing’s quality or depth. The film ‘Minions’ grossed $1.1 billion. Russell is largely correct that Taylor Swift’s music (as well as much of what passes for popular music in contemporary society) is largely shallow, self-involved (perhaps even narcissistic), and harmfully apolitical. The top musical acts by streams and ticket sales are SPECTACLES, not artists seeking truth and transcendence through their craft. Take T Swift’s name off of her last five+ records and release them under another, more obscure artist’s name and they would never rise to mainstream popularity. Conversely, if T Swift were to release a eighty minute double record of ASMR of farts and the troves of followers she has, who make up those ticket sales and streams that you think justify describing her work as quality, would spend the ensuing three months “analyzing and immersing themselves in her latest piece of art.” I’m not, nor do I think Russell is, trying to take Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, or any other of these contemporary acts away from people-if you wanna listen, go right ahead-just stop pretending that BECAUSE they are “pOpUlAr” (i.e. have been given the stamp of approval of industry insiders and other powers that be) that means their output is proper art. It’s okay for things to be just there for entertainment/spectacle rather than for deep inquiry and reflection. To be fair, though, the criticism is not isolated to just post-90’s content-there are plenty of acts from Russell’s time that I’m sure he’d insist are much deeper in quality that, in my eyes, equally deserve the critique that T Swift is earning, it’s just not germaine because the acts aren’t relevant at the time of the recording. To be completely honest, Iron Maiden is about as substantive as T Swift in my eyes
