    In the 407, to improve audio, you are better off installing a small add-on amp, which improves audio by 70%! (I then used Clarion SRP-1722S but these are discontinued sadly and the sound improved to the point I preferred it over the JBL and even the 20 speaker B&O option in an Audi A4 for quality). I use the Pioneer GM-D1004. To get this to work, you need the parrot kit ISO cable, making it essentially plug and play - a 10 minute job to install. Use 3M industrial strength Velcro and tape the amp to the heaterbox - easy peasy. 3M Velcro is VERY strong but still removable incase you need to change something, just make sure to clean mounting surfaces.

    Nice video, thank you very much. You can find a kind of adaptors, so you don't need to cut the wires.

      I need to change 1 speaker so I will change all of them. I have the option to buy the stock speaker or the same Pioneer you installed....which one would you recommend? Did you get better sound with the Pioneer?

      @@CesarGZ. To be honest, I'm not that much of a music lover and just went to the auto flea market and bought the same speaker from 407 2008 or 2010 year (from front door). In these speakers, the vibrating membrane has notches that prevent it from breaking. The sound is very good, better than before.

    Hi for the tweeters, do I have to remove the entire board? or how can I change the tweeters. I just lift the net and take them out or inside.

    Hello bro,
    I have a 2009 Peugeot 407. The 2 rear spkr not working, so I changed them as your video, but when I connect the wires to radio not working, I chked it manually by give 12v to socket its work!!, where's the problem??

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there
      A very common problem on all cars from all manufacturers is the link between the door pillar and the door, the corrugated rubber joint that is between the two door hinges is where the wires join the car to the door. The repeated opening and closing of the door can with time cause the wires to break apart. It is worth checking that by unclipping the grommet and inspecting the wires inside for being broken or starting to break, if necessary cut out the broken section and solder in a good new wire but make the 2 joints away from this area ie one joint in the door and another joint in the pillar so the new wire does the flexing. Any solder joint or connection in this area will fail very fast due to the movement.
      …….
      And now ive read your question more carefully🙈
      Possibly your fader front to rear settings? If the two rear speakers dont work im not sure both wires will have failed together especially if you have replaced them recently. Did the old ones work somewhat?

    Edit: maybe install x4 new speakers while im at it?
    EDIT: also any recommendations on which media to replace stock one with, my screen fades too much and needs a change. Would like driver controles and climate controls compatible.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There was two colours of wires going into the speakers, and on the new speaker wires there was a black and white wires. Just kept them consistent for all 4 speakers. Testing them before putting the door panels went back on over them.

      Hi
      From memory the physical dimensions of the speakers are different. Bar figuring out how to fit the speakers my knowledge when it comes to speccing the right speakers is a bit more limited, these ones just seemed popular on the owners club.

    would the process of replacing these wires be hard? planning on running brand new 150W@4ohm midtones in the doors and i think the original cables might be too small for such power

      Sorry they were not covered in the video, i kept the original tweeters in place as they seemed to be working fine, they did not have a paper cone like the door speakers.
      I also deemed the original items to be higher quality than the lighter feeling items that came in the box from pioneer.
      I think the JBL items from models specified with that sound system are a good tweeter to upgrade to.

  • @ant.9940
    @ant.9940 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did the sound get better? Sounds like a lot of power for this radio. So there will be a lack of signal to make these speakers play with quality.
    I think a 30W would be better. The sound would be more bass and less distortion. But good job.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sound got better, less crackling and buzzing which was caused by the old speakers basically falling apart. However its not the most sophisticated of systems there is no fancy headunit or amplifiers here. The stock radio has its limitations, its an okay sound quality although sitting in a car with a good audio system and it would be better. This is just easier to listen to, dont really want to spend any more money on this car. The heanunit is badly showing its age but aftermarket options are limited to off brand stuff off alibaba none of which seems to be without annoying flaws.

    • @Bumper3D
      @Bumper3D 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The power handling capacity of the speakers doesn't really matter here. What you want with the stock radio is good sensitivity. PS. The 300W claim is just some marketing number, the nominal input power for these Pioneers is actually 40W...

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Bumper3D I think 40w was on the box, to be honest i just asked on the owners club to find out what everyone else was fitting to their 407's and these were close to being unanimously recommended.
      As an overall in car entertainment package its not the best, streaming music through a phone via an FM transmitter still wouldn't deliver the most impressive sound quality but at least the buzzing and crackling has gone. The sound quality on FM radio is quite good, haven't tried CD's because whats a CD😂

      Hi there
      To be honest i dont know, check the details of those pioneer speakers for sizes. Just seemed to be a popular speaker on the owners club
      I sold the 407 and bought a mid spec C4 instead, the sound quality from it is much better than the 407 even with the pioneer speakers so the headunit must have been a limiting factor

      I just installed the speakers and called it a day, im no expert on car audio. Just asked on the owners club what speakers everyone else was fitting and put them in.
      Stopped driving the 407 a week or two ago, bought a C4 hatch. Mainly for fuel economy but its not even a high spec model and its sound system sounds miles better than the 407. Perhaps just a result of a built in Bluetooth module rather than using an fm transmitter
