I was at the Garrick Theatre last night and I fell in live with this show. Leesa Tulley was amazing with this song. I could feel tears running down faces all around. Please release a full cast album.
I know it sounds insane I know when I add it all up, can’t began to explain I know it doesn’t make sense Trust me I know that on paper it’s all in my head Yeah I make no pretence Then I think about you Just you [Pre-Chorus] And there’s nothing I can do Wish it wasn’t true, all I see is you And no matter what I tell myself Lies I try to sell myself ‘Cause I know that like, middle of the night If you said ‘Alright Pack your bags and run away with me’ While I wish that I’d just say no Chorus] I would abandon it all Drop everything at your call Leave everything, everyone For that scenе I've wanted all along Wherе we walk off into the sunset Watching the end credits run Let everything, everyone fade away like every final song I would abandon it all I would abandon it all Anytime, anywhere Fuck it, and go when you call But hard as I stare at the screen on my phone I won’t see your face, just my own [Verse 2] I hate myself for this song I’m literally fine, don’t know why I’ve missed you for so long I force myself to forget Replace your full name with ‘the ex’ So it’s always crossed out every time that it’s said Then I think about you Just you [Pre-Chorus] And how in a year or two I might start anew with somebody who Should be perfectly enough for me I could be their love story But if you arrived, middle of the night And you said ‘Alright Pack your bags and run away with me’ Wouldn’t hesitate I’d just go Chorus] I would abandon it all Drop everything at your call Leave everything, everyone For that scene that replays in my mind Where I find my hand back in your hand Find that it fits like before and Everything, everyone else that never did gets left behind I would abandon it all I would abandon it all Anytime, anywhere Fuck it, and go when you call But hard as I stare at the screen on my phone I won’t see your face, just my own [Bridge] I’ll be waiting For that ringtone Staring at my face No it won’t ring But I’m waiting Just in case [Chorus] ‘Cause I would abandon it all Drop everything at your call Leave everything, everyone For that scene that I know I’ll never see Where finally you make it okay Say this time you won’t let go Say everything, everyone else meant nothing it’s always been me I would abandon it all I would abandon it all Anytime, anywhere Fuck it, and go when you call But hard as I stare at the screen on my phone I won’t see your face, just my own
hopefully this'll go on tour, Leesa and Jo are amazing but London is just too far to see it. A real gut wrenching song by Toby and Lucy yet again, their talent is incredible
(this is my reading of the plot of it because there's not a good synopsis online, and it's a bit from memory, but hopefully still helpful) Throughout the show the leads are, in a way, lashing out at the world, themselves and each other, apparently to try and find anything other than the obvious but difficult to accept answer to the show's titular question, but it's a very fragile facade and everything they do tears holes in it. At this point in the first act the leads are starting to pick apart each of their dating habits. A big part of Nancy's problems come from the big hole in her life that she has from dumping *The Ex* and how she's become stuck with the idea that she needs to fill it with something be it a new relationship (which isn't working) or somehow getting back together, and that's what this song digs into.
I'm currently in the process of figuring it out too as it's not written anywhere! It's in the key of Bb. Chorus I think is Cminor, Eb Major, Gminor, BbMajor. Let me know if you agree/ have any recommendations!
I love her vocals so much BUT i’m just wondering if anyone else finds the last two chorus’ RLLY loud and shouty?? I mean incredible vocals but it’s a bit…. idk
I believe the volume increase reflects her anger within herself of knowing she would “abandon it all” and in the end acceptance of where she emotionally is.

I come back here at least twice a day. I actually can't get enough of this song. The lyrics and composition are genius.
Need the full album!!
Marlow and Moss are incapable of writing a terrible power ballad😭🙌🏻
i’m OBSESSED with this song 😭 and all of the ones you’ve released from this show tbh i need to see it someday 🫶
I know it sounds insane
I know when I add it all up, can’t began to explain
I know it doesn’t make sense
Trust me I know that on paper it’s all in my head
Yeah I make no pretence
Then I think about you
Just you
[Pre-Chorus]
And there’s nothing I can do
Wish it wasn’t true, all I see is you
And no matter what I tell myself
Lies I try to sell myself
‘Cause I know that like, middle of the night
If you said ‘Alright
Pack your bags and run away with me’
While I wish that I’d just say no
Chorus]
I would abandon it all
Drop everything at your call
Leave everything, everyone
For that scenе I've wanted all along
Wherе we walk off into the sunset
Watching the end credits run
Let everything, everyone fade away like every final song
I would abandon it all
I would abandon it all
Anytime, anywhere
Fuck it, and go when you call
But hard as I stare at the screen on my phone
I won’t see your face, just my own
[Verse 2]
I hate myself for this song
I’m literally fine, don’t know why I’ve missed you for so long
I force myself to forget
Replace your full name with ‘the ex’
So it’s always crossed out every time that it’s said
Then I think about you
Just you
[Pre-Chorus]
And how in a year or two
I might start anew with somebody who
Should be perfectly enough for me
I could be their love story
But if you arrived, middle of the night
And you said ‘Alright
Pack your bags and run away with me’
Wouldn’t hesitate I’d just go
Chorus]
I would abandon it all
Drop everything at your call
Leave everything, everyone
For that scene that replays in my mind
Where I find my hand back in your hand
Find that it fits like before and
Everything, everyone else that never did gets left behind
I would abandon it all
I would abandon it all
Anytime, anywhere
Fuck it, and go when you call
But hard as I stare at the screen on my phone
I won’t see your face, just my own
[Bridge]
I’ll be waiting
For that ringtone
Staring at my face
No it won’t ring
But I’m waiting
Just in case
[Chorus]
‘Cause I would abandon it all
Drop everything at your call
Leave everything, everyone
For that scene that I know I’ll never see
Where finally you make it okay
Say this time you won’t let go
Say everything, everyone else meant nothing it’s always been me
I would abandon it all
I would abandon it all
Anytime, anywhere
Fuck it, and go when you call
But hard as I stare at the screen on my phone
I won’t see your face, just my own
A true hero

Holy shit i wish I lived near NYC. I haven't had a song make me cry in a long time.
Just... achingly sung.

@@H3L3N44NN its worth every penny. leesa singing this live made me cry. she is an incredible singer
The Nokia ringtone reference is just perfect
leesas vocals are amazing

What’s the context for the musical number? Like what happens before this and what happens in the scene in the show
She is procrastinating about her ex and how she would drop everything
(this is my reading of the plot of it because there's not a good synopsis online, and it's a bit from memory, but hopefully still helpful)

Someone please post chords for this

I love her vocals so much BUT i’m just wondering if anyone else finds the last two chorus’ RLLY loud and shouty?? I mean incredible vocals but it’s a bit…. idk
That's kinda the point, it gets more shouty and less melodic as the character slips deeper into her depression.
@@professorwright1428 ohhhhhhh i mean fair enough
I honestly wish they would’ve let the bridge be the end of the song
I think it’s meant to represent the characters anger because often with theatre songs the last choruses are like that
I believe the volume increase reflects her anger within herself of knowing she would “abandon it all” and in the end acceptance of where she emotionally is.
