2:44 The blocking choice at the end to have Galinda stumble right on the spot where a stereotypical soloist character would strike a dramatic pose to sing the final note with her fellow schoolmates surrounding her, but instead she’s looking up at Elphi receiving the admiration she actually desires was subtle genius.

I can't stop replaying the 2:37 - 2:49 part, that whole choreography, along with the vocal harmonies and the melody is just so catchy and completely stuck in my head and I'm not mad about it 😂
Crying? Yes, but not for the reasons you may think. “I’m Not That Girl” stuck in my head when I saw the musical back in 2008: I was an awkward teenager who was always unlucky in love. Ever after high school, it never got better. Fast forward to present day and at least at the time I saw this movie (day before Thanksgiving 2024), I actually had a special someone in my life. During the film, when the aforementioned number came on, all those negative thoughts came rushing back in to drown out my happiness with despair and anxiety. And since they changed the key of the song in the film to one that gets in my head easier, it was harder not to internalize the feeling that I’m unlovable and always will be. I found myself crying during that song, plugging my ears during the last verse, and quietly muttering “He brought her back” over and over
If you ever get to Broadway I truly recommend it. I saw it 3x (I live within an hour so I am totally Broadway spoiled) But it has the best budget and by far the nicest set. By far the only show i can see over and over and not be board of it.

It surprised me how few people knew Ariana was an actress before becoming a big music star. I knew her mostly from her Cat days on Nickelodeon and I was surprised when I found out she became a popular singer.
Im not huge on musicals, i like certain ones but this one might be my fav. I know it's not canon to the wizard of oz, but it does make you think about the message which i think is important

Now more than ever as “it’s just a joke” has become the perfect get out of jail free card.
As someone who knows roughly how movies are shot, this must've been one of the most disjoined musical numbers to film. the way that movie filming works, requires all scenes and shots at a single location to be done all at once over a period of time (Because it's extremely time consuming to move filming equipment around, on account of most filming equipment being large and bulky as well as the time to shuttle the large cast numbers from their trailer park/accomodation to the set) and the amount of scene changes from Elphaba and Galinda's room and the cafeteria to the classroom and courtyard, there are insane amounts of set that would have to have been shot all at once over a large period of time
And its shot in a way that feel very immersive. I watched it on Imax and it was amazing! I really felt that I was pulled into the movie. The camera works for this movie is perfection
