    He’s spot on I’ve taken it a step further and focus on carnivore with some dairy, some berries occasionally snacking on nuts. Lost over 30 kg, massive improvement in ibs problems, massive reduction of inflammation. Stopped sleep apnea. Accompanied by eating between 12-7, tired by 9-10, up by 6, warm then cold showers daily. Walk 14/15k steps a day, regular body weight exercises. It’s not really a diet more a lifestyle. Key is you recognise your food previously was drugged and you were addicted. Once off the drug, sugar especially, I found my joints improved hugely (previously arthritic / painful) energy up hugely. If I’ve felt ill over last 18 months it’s usually driven by bad food booze or colds, recovery is rapid, literally a day. No more brain fog, didn’t get what that was until I removed the peaks and troughs caused by blood sugar rushes I was running off. Food costs more but it’s high quality and I buy way way less. So overall I’m saving money. Not to mention keeping away from doctors so far and pills or supplements - I do take electrolytes! I’m 57 …. Maybe I’ll get run over tomorrow, bottom line is id way rather feel healthy and high energy till then than the increasing physical and now I appreciate emotional decline I was told was part of being over 50. Its bs. But does keep big food and pharma growing nicely from our diet induced decline.

    It doesn't even need to be keto. For some people, ketosis will only kick in below 25g per day. Low carb has many of the benefits of keto, but it avoids the keto flu some people experience when dropping in and out of ketosis. I did keto 7 years ago and lost 5 stone. Currently doing low carb and have lost 4 stone in about 6 months. It's also sustainable, unlike "diets" that essentially just starve you. Well done, Mark.

    • @philgriff586
      @philgriff586 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Exactly. Low carb can be anything below 150 grams per day, depending upon one's personal physiology and daily activity needs. The metabolic flexibility you describe is exactly what the body needs for optimal health. I got the keto 'flu' once, but only because I didn't pay attention to electrolytes. I prefer to keep a small amount of carbs in the diet to feel best.

    • @Mike-e4c
      @Mike-e4c 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      You are right, low carbs diet is enough for the people who are fit, thin or happy with their body. However, if you want to burn fat to reduce your weight, then you should do a keto diet and intermittent fasting simultaneously, otherwise you won't achieve significant results fast enough to avoid getting demotivated (unless you are killing yourself at the gym).

    • @theboldbear1973

      @Mike-e4c Keto is faster for sure. Although it's fast, Keto isn't suitable for everyone though. Low carb still works quite fast even for more overweight people. Doing loads of exercise makes a lot less impact than people expect it to. Weight loss is 90% nutrition. I'm saying this as someone who has been very overweight and very unfit.

    Thank you for being the lone voice in traditional media talking - and educating - about this critically important subject. If you can fix he UK addiction to carbohydrate (ie sugars, in all their forms) you'd singlehandedly fix the NHS as well. Massive reduction in cancers, diabetes type 1 AND 2, cardiovascular disease, dementia, hormone conditions including PCOS, rheumatoid and serous negative arthritis, SIBO, IBD, psoriasis, etc etc. The only caveat - carbs should be zero ideally, with a maximum of 5gm NET carbs. 50 is way too high. But other than that - well done. Keep going. Bang that drum!

    Brillant video! Very clear and all true! I've been doing a keto diet combined with intermittent fasting (they bring amazing results if you follow them strictly! without cheating!). The first week is very difficult because you must fight against the withdrawal of sugar addiction (you must resist the intense craving for anything sweet). Also, the first few days you may feel some hunger whilst your body hasn't started with the keto metabolism. After that, you will feel incredibly well (no cravings, no hunger and full of energy!) and the diet will be easy to follow. However, if you eat any "sugar" (or too many carbohydrates) you will get out of keto and ruin the whole process (then you will need to pass through the difficult part once again to return to keto). I recommend starting slowly, decreasing carbs but no intermittent fasting yet. Please notice that it's very easy to reach the 50 grams of carbs limit just with the veggies intake, so basically you shouldn't eat any other carb food (no fruit, no rice, no potatoes, no beans, no wheat, no peanuts, etc).
    Tip: DO NOT BUY ANY FOOD THAT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO EAT! Saving some delicious treats in the pantry for an special occasion doesn't work because you will end up falling for the temptation sooner than later and it will jeopardize the keto diet.
    Remember: AVOID ALL PROCESSED FOODS!! This will improve your health ("we are what we eat") and will save you a lot of money!!
    KETO is not just a diet, it's a lifestyle!! Welcome and good luck!!

    If you do want carbs with food, tips seen on YT are to first start with green leaves/fibre to line the gut and take a teaspoon of vinegar in water (this apparently prevents the stomach enzymes from chopping the carbs into sugars, restricting absorption and insulin spike)

      The stomach doesn’t use enzymes for digestion, but rather the acidic environment churns the food into what is referred to as chyme. Digestion of carbohydrates takes place in the duodenum with enzymes released by the pancreas, then small intestine breaks this down further into sugars. Just drinking a teaspoon of vinegar is not going to prevent absorption lol. It will all be absorbed eventually, just may slow things down. Where else would these carbs go? If this was true you would crap it out with serious diarrhoea.

    So, these jabs are not a silver bullet, but a tool. Carb addiction is both physical and mental, and it is often the mental aspect that is hardest to break.
    A GLP-1 Agonist can help reset one's relationship with food, and therefore very useful.
    Along with the drug, one should increase protein consumption (to retain lean muscle), partake in intensive and regular strength training and move from carbs to fats (animal).
    The drug should be seen as a spring board rather than a life-long treatment.
    GLP-1 Agonists help with blood sugar regulation and insulin sensitivity arguably the reason one got fat in the first case.
    Please don't take much attention to 'Celebs' using Ozempic as they have a completely different agenda i.e. looking good for a couple of minutes on the red carpet.
    Mounjaro, in the UK, also targets GIP. Do your research.

    I lost 20 lbs / 9-10kg, just by cooking in butter, eating eggs and toast in the morning instead of cereal. ( bread home made from scratch not a packet).
    i also switched hi intensity workouts to walking more, 15,000 steps a day +. now hi intensity is good for internal health ( i already have that sorted) but makes you hungry via your brain response to replenish energy, so you never get a calorie deficit, where as i can walk 10 miles and eat the same amounts.
    obviously different people react differently so experimentation is needed.

    The thing is that everything, eaten in moderation, is fine. Carbs are not toxic. Potatoes are packed full of vitamin C, bread will not make you fat. I agree that weight loss jabs are not the way forward but don’t necessarily blame carbs for excessive weight gain (as long as you take some form of exercise). Of course if you eat mountains of carbs and don’t move, you will get fat.
    Restricting the hours you eat will do nothing unless you take some form of exercise. It’s another fad.

    • @Mike-e4c
      @Mike-e4c 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      You are right! The problem is that we usually eat too much because we are used to including food in most of our social activities (dates, gaderings with friends, business meetings, parties, etc.). Sometimes we have a meal because "it's time to do it", not because we are really hungry. It would be enough to eat once a day to take the right amount of calories and nutrients to fulfill our body requirements. However, we usually eat 3 or 4 times per day (depending on our culture and habits). The excess is stored as fat. So, the bottom line is "eat less!". Then, as you said, less carbs and more fiber is the best! 😊

Not a good place to be in because the brain calls for sugar or carbs to soak up the insulin. We need to aim for less sugar and regulated carbs. The way things are going in the world at large, we will soon be getting food shortages, even famine, obesity problem solved.

    This is poor advice,
    The problem isn’t carbohydrates it’s eating too many kcals for the amount of energy you are expending.
    You can easily lose fat while eating plenty of carbohydrates every single day as long as you have a slight kcal deficit and eat optimal protein which could be anywhere from around 0.8-1.7 grams per kg of bodyweight depending on studies.
    Eating low carb diets allows you to lose water weight.
    Losing fat and maintaining muscle mass is the ideal outcome, but that involves actually doing some physical activity, understanding kcals in v kcals out and getting enough protein.

      Not if you have an adequate amount of protein intake in one meal(with associated fats included), to initiate a spike in insulin. Exogenous intake of carbohydrates in the human diet are contraindicated, and we require not one single gram. Your body creates all the glucose it needs from a process called "Gluconeogenesis". The insulin spike is required as a signal for your kidneys to retain electrolytes and signals that there is an adequate flow substrate that has entered the body so that the body can function optimally, which would include a hormonal balance in healthy non diseased individuals.
