Cool - you got that motor going! But yes, this machine have too much other issues to play md. What i still see in my mind after this video is that cracked loading motor pulley and belt looked too loose imo. And one more thing, when you said it just not spin and spits out md - i think this will be related to "not completing loading cycle correctly"- can be due to that cracked pulley or loading belt or some "full load" detection switch. I've thought about epoxying the cracked pulley to the shaft, but since the unit does complete the loading cycle I figured it wasn't worth the time to do it. I'm too busy playing with the DD-99 this week. I'm almost done that one!
I have a similar era JVC minidisc only deck. The remote flips open to reveal a keyboard, nice for naming tracks.

I would have used an Ohm meter to check for resistance across the windings of the motor. The commutators could be dirty.
