  • Now is the time to follow your passion and do something that matters. Become a Respiratory Therapist!
Many Canadians suffer from breathing problems associated with respiratory disease, heart disease, accidents and premature births. For these people, the act of drawing a breath cannot be taken for granted. For them, breathing is an accomplishment, and care by a Respiratory Therapist may be crucial. In addition to treating respiratory ailments a Respiratory Therapist may be found in operating rooms working as assistants to anaesthesiologists or in pulmonary function laboratories evaluating breathing function.

Choose R.N., NOT respiratory therapist. Physicians refer to respiratory as 'ancillary', lumped in with C.N.A.s. Despite taking the same general education, prerequisites and sciences respiratory earns about 20% to 30% LESS THAN R.N.s.
R.N.s and M.D.s ate lunch, conversed idly, and even dated/married; yet, NEARLY never, can the same be said of the LOWLY respiratory therapist. My usual contribution to the 'team' was, " SaO2 is something %" followed by, "ok, ya sure", by the Pulmonologist. 37 years of such 'team work' was not pleasant, or worth it. Further, the nature of the discipline greatly diminishes the areas needed, thus opportunities are diminished. Choose R.N., NOT respiratory therapist.

@@AnthonyGarcia-wb8xv Agreed; keep in mind the following, a need for a payday, they're not worth it, and having an alternative position elsewhere, is key to the greatest autonomy as an R.T. Spend your off time FAR FROM coworkers, employers and the medical field, this allows you the opportunity to freely express without fear of being overhead by an immature person. My friends are people entirely outside of the medical field. We don't discuss each other's profession unless there's a need for info. Proverbs 14:15. Only the best, Sir.

Misery needs company. You need a life, man. You spam every video on TH-cam saying the same thing. You are just a bitter person. For it to be such a bad field, you sure stayed in it a long time. You were most likely fired and now you’re mad. Go away troll

@@sean2044 My hope is ensure that those who embark upon a career in Respiratory therapy know the nuances of the medical field, before committing time, money and, most of all, dreams. Good luck 👍.
