In my college days I saw this beautiful film at least a dozen times. Now after about sixty years,l consider this film the best one and appreciate the dedicated persons behind the great movie.
It's sad cause now a days I ask teens if they know what the sound of music is and they say they don't know. I watched this in kindergarten, now I'm a freshmen, 15 yrs old, and still love this movie. Making sure my kids watch this.
Indeed it was regrettable that J.A. was forced to retire from singing. On the other hand, even if she'd never had that surgery, she might still not be able to sing like she used to since she's now in her 80s.
I also cry when I watch the reunion I saw the original movie in Calcutta (India). Julie Anndrews is still so beautiful and gracious as she was in those days. Would love to have conversation with her in person I am trying with my meagre means to travel to England and fulfill my life's only dream. God bless all the "The Sound of Music" team. Gurdayal Singh
I think i was in grade 5 about 11 yrs old 1965, living in a remote barrio/place but & heard some people (who were able to go to cities) talked about this film & they said they truly loved this film.. i said to myself i will surely love this movie too (without actually seeing this) i was able to see when i was already in college 1971...

julie is happiest here, never been the happiest, always laughing so fast and quick. Other interviews with the rest maybe she had aged a bit and is more slow in her actions. I love that quickness in her.
The sound failed about halfway through; please do correct this if at all possible. It was absolutely beautiful up to the point of the sound loss; it would be just lovely to hear the remainder of the reunion film. :)
The Sound of Music is very beautiful and nice. The best movie I have seen. I would like to get a DVD of the movie. Where can I buy the DVD? Please advice. Thanks

After watching The NBC live teleplay last night I appreciate Julie Andrews more than I ever have. What a true talent.
God is great! Those crew have survived car accidents, cancer and lived long life with old age. May God bless them.

What a shame that Julie lost her lovely voice following her surgery. She is the definition of poise and beauty.

She had throat surgery to take out a non cancerous nobe, and unfortunately something went wrong and she can't sing :(
