There are two primary punk beats. One is the d-beat as you mentioned. That is the beat that Motorhead and Discharge made popular. It has a double kick on every other downbeat. The other is called the skank or the kick/snare. That's the beat you hear on Slayer records and old school hardcore punk bands like Minor Threat and Bad Brains use.
