Parrying is done by holding L1 and pressing X right when a strike is about to hit you. Magic is done by pressing R2. Once you hit an enemy with a parry, press R1 when they have the gold or red arch over their head
This video was very helpful. I had a lot of red orbs, so I spent them on maxing out the hades blades, and the L2 attack items, and that did it. I don't know if I like the Hades magic attack better than the lightning magic attack which seems to hit a lot better, but the nice thing is that if you kill enemies the right way, you get green orbs, which are drastically needed here.

ya, I was surprised too. I was getting wrecked by everything else in the game XD I just followed and did everything he said in the video. I've beaten other GoW games on the hardest difficulty as well. Clotho's Gauntlet from GoW 2 on Titan was the worst experience ever XD
I cannot stress how much easier this was once I was just patient and used my amulets of Uroborus and Orkos. The amulet of Orkos ( L2 + Triangle) once fully powered up is crazy strong, although it glitches every once in a while. While they were recharging, I would just block and evade. Once the sirens show up, I used all my magic and recharged it by grapple finishing them and the medusas. The next two levels were much easier using the same strategy. I beat it on Hard mode and got my Platinum
I found this the most helpful, having said that, I could not do the parry so I relayed mostly on the ouroborus stone and the orkos stone. Saved my valuable seconds
It has taken me 2 days and a lot of stress. Bro, what has worked the most with me was the fuckin' block attacks and the soul weapon. Only, that's it. Now, after a lot of stress and gaming, I'm good!

Thanks, after just listening for 2 minutes I figured it out with two tries in Hard Mode, that hades chain really helps, and definitely have a full bar of magic for the second round and it will be a breeze
I've never played a gow game on normal or easy since the first gow. I've always liked the challenge. This trial of Archimedes is making me effing crazy. This is the 3rd day of trying, after rage quitting the first two days. I would play through like ten times a day and just get fed up. The damn sirens are whats getting me. you dont have time to parry because of the lightning on the ground you have to stay on the move. Sure I could use up all my magic but then that screws me for the 2nd trial.

Rage quit? Yesterday actually with this game. Not this part though. R1 button popped out and real triggers flew across the room. Its also slightly open on one side. Still works though!

If you hold on to the hammer, you can use it to knock the sirens off the ledge. The gorgons are not so hard but I usually get rid of them first. You can't turtle this one out, you gotta use those items you collect. The amulet and the oath stone are really helpful.
I don't want to offend anyone but, did any of you come here because you really didn't know what to do or did you come here to see if you had the same idea? I actually was stuck here for about an hour and then I started to notice what each character OS capable of doing when stunned. I would most likely recommend lightning since it does more damage on the magic and simple attacks. For every monster you kill, make sure that on the first round you kill then when they have a red halo on their heads
Just got a PS4 and this is brilliant. First time in history (30 years) of gaming I am beaten. I have found this harder than Dark Souls and that was a killer. It's the electric assholes.

Round 2 is extremely easy all you need to do is hold block and use the orkos stone when safe to do so. You can kill hammer guy by slowing him up and melleeing him and the orkos stone. You'll take little to no damage with that method.
Actually, I just got the gold trophy for beating hard mode a few minutes ago and I had previously attempted to clear the trial of Archimedes last night... ALL of last night... to no avail (after 25+ tries); then I watched this video and remembered Kratos could block... LMAO!!! I then beat the trial of Archimedes after 5 tries.. What a world of difference blocking made haha.
At stage two you can grapple the harpies and threw them off the ledge = instant kill. That way you can kill them off fast and safe leaving you alone with the titan.
Was having a lot of trouble.. And then I upgraded the Amulet of urobos and beat it my first try...makes the cool down so fast and the area effect is amazing... Make sure you use it as much as you can. Makes this kind of simple.

Rage story. Stray demon boss fight in dark souls. I tried beating it 15 times before I gave it one last go. I threw on my strongest weapon and ran in there and took him on. He had 5% health left when I ran out of flasks. Right when I thought I gave the last blow, he kills me with his butt blast attack.. I sat there for a moment thinking what just happened, staring at the screen.. I got up and threw my controller at the wall, then I slipped on a magazine laying around and hit my arm on my desk.
dude when you get to the centuar just stand REALLY close to him and all you have to do is block and hit, he wont charge at you because you are too close, after blocking and hitting just do the QTE to get that health ! do the same with the avatar things just stand close and hit em twice then block they usually wont fight you both at the same time for some reason
I spent over 20 hours playing Skyrim to get my Nord past level 50 (in preparation of fighting Alduin). I finally made it to Sovngarde and entered the Hall of Valor. As soon as I exited the hall (to finally face Alduin), my body glitched and I begin floating around in the air--with no ability to attack Alduin or successfully use Dragonrend. I decided to reload and the same glitch occurred in the same place. So much time and effort, nothing in return. I quit and started a new game.
i'm doing this on Titan. The best advice I could give you is 1) Know everything about your enemy. 2) BLOCK 3) SPAM necklace of oroborus and oath stone like a bitch
On normal this is a piece of cake, but on hard it's a nightmare. Been trying for at least an hour now and I always die in the second stage, but I will not give up. I just need to get past the first stage without losing to much health.
Two sirens with 3 consequent tracking attack relentlessly spamming in you, also having an attack that pierce blocking that makes you move analog left-right to free yourself and sets you up vulnerable for other enemies and lets not forget the range projectile attacks. Whilst also dealing with 2 Gorgons who can also do 1/3 swipe range tail attack and also grabing you every now and then, then while you may avoid being stoned but the slow it does fucks up the defense. The fact that Kratos attacks can't stagger both of them and Kratos himself have no fucking pois, which means one attack and quite possibly you will be comboed to death in harder diffuculties. That add with the fact that parrying gorgons and grabing to stone enemies means nothing as the concept of stoning and then smashing them enemies is zero in ascension. First normal gorgon in the all installment that cant be launched and launching siren is almost impossible as they evade every launchable. Putting these to enemies in 2 each in one room with such mechanical nerf to Kratos is whats wrong with Ascension's room enemy design. The hyperion grapple was the worst, now you can only hyperion grapple certain enemies and some when stunned by uroboros. While I like them change grapple in R1 and having range, if it only let hyperion grapple anyone, Kratos would have so much mobility which would comoensate for lack of icarus wings. And also while punching and kicking was made essential for opening the blocking enemies, doing it make Kratoa commit to the animation making it useless in chaotic fight and it so complete useless in this Trial. Santa Monica, dont let the bro who was combat design director cook again.
I somewhat agree with Joshua Terry. This board ruined the game for me. The game was GREAT up until this board. I'm SICK and TIRED of doing the same thing over and over with the stupid restart!!! I will NOT sell my copy, but I probably will not finish the game until months later...I've already put it up in the game library...I'll come back to it later...MUCH later!
The patch did NOTHING to change any of the battles. The only gives you a small amount of health and some magic back BETWEEN levels, that doesn't do any good if U can't get passed level one. SSM needed to lose the sirens as fighting four Gorgans is more then enough in such a tight confined space. The game should save between levels. It's a total moral killer that after you beaten one level and advance to the next level that you have to do level one all over if you get killed on a different level.
Normal, but people are saying it took them like a hundred tries to finally beat it. Obviously those people have never played the previous God of War games.
Btw I got a raging story for another game! The game is SUPERB! Talking about Jak II HD! There's to few checkpoints and if you die in some levels you've have to do the entire mission all over again.
i wish i stopped at 6 hours, today is my third day straight of trying to do it, im actually gerting worse due to frustration. i just hope the patch that is coming out makes this atleast doable, not easy, doable
My issue with this part was progression. The game give you checkpoint after checkpoint and lots of Green Orbs and suddenly, there's just a HUGE spike in difficulty. You need to ease the player into something like that. This shit took me 11 tries to beat.
this made me rage quit. i see '19 attempts, 2 hours of attempts,' etc. i've been trying for, cumulatively, about 6 hours now. i'm done. never has a game made me more disinterested in progression than ascension. devil may cry 3 and ninja gaiden sigma 2 are like childs play compared to this. it's like santa monica said 'hey lets think of the hardest combination of bullshit possible and throw it in a tiny series of rooms with traps and no checkpoints. oh my god, i'm done. rage fulfilled. have fun

Ahhhhh...... Just finished it. Floor 3 was so easy. Once I finished floor 2, I did floor 3 on the first try.
Finally did it! Found a good strategy on a forum that helped a lot. Took me at least an other hour though. So glad I did this before the patch :D

You forgot the other attack the Gorgon's have; they can charge at you and coil/strangle Kratos with their tails. And it can't be blocked

Hold L1. Then hit X as the opponent tries to hit you. Time it wrong and you'll just be wide open for attacks.

I JUST COMPLETED THIS TRIAL AFTER A LOT OF TRIES!!!
I can't thank you enough. I was stuck on that damn trial for months
Two sirens with 3 consequent tracking attack relentlessly spamming in you, also having an attack that pierce blocking that makes you move analog left-right to free yourself and sets you up vulnerable for other enemies and lets not forget the range projectile attacks.
Whilst also dealing with 2 Gorgons who can also do 1/3 swipe range tail attack and also grabing you every now and then, then while you may avoid being stoned but the slow it does fucks up the defense.
The fact that Kratos attacks can't stagger both of them and Kratos himself have no fucking pois, which means one attack and quite possibly you will be comboed to death in harder diffuculties. That add with the fact that parrying gorgons and grabing to stone enemies means nothing as the concept of stoning and then smashing them enemies is zero in ascension.
First normal gorgon in the all installment that cant be launched and launching siren is almost impossible as they evade every launchable. Putting these to enemies in 2 each in one room with such mechanical nerf to Kratos is whats wrong with Ascension's room enemy design.
The hyperion grapple was the worst, now you can only hyperion grapple certain enemies and some when stunned by uroboros.
While I like them change grapple in R1 and having range, if it only let hyperion grapple anyone, Kratos would have so much mobility which would comoensate for lack of icarus wings.
And also while punching and kicking was made essential for opening the blocking enemies, doing it make Kratoa commit to the animation making it useless in chaotic fight and it so complete useless in this Trial.

To parry just hold L1 and hit x just before the enemies atack

I somewhat agree with Joshua Terry. This board ruined the game for me. The game was GREAT up until this board. I'm SICK and TIRED of doing the same thing over and over with the stupid restart!!! I will NOT sell my copy, but I probably will not finish the game until months later...I've already put it up in the game library...I'll come back to it later...MUCH later!
I see no one posting that the gorgon tackle is PARRYABLE...still even with this fact I haven't passed this shit yet lol

The patch did NOTHING to change any of the battles. The only gives you a small amount of health and some magic back BETWEEN levels, that doesn't do any good if U can't get passed level one. SSM needed to lose the sirens as fighting four Gorgans is more then enough in such a tight confined space. The game should save between levels. It's a total moral killer that after you beaten one level and advance to the next level that you have to do level one all over if you get killed on a different level.

Normal, but people are saying it took them like a hundred tries to finally beat it. Obviously those people have never played the previous God of War games.
Btw I got a raging story for another game! The game is SUPERB! Talking about Jak II HD! There's to few checkpoints and if you die in some levels you've have to do the entire mission all over again.
I was so upset went to sleep woke up all i did was upgrade the amulet of time and the black thing and passed it in my second try😂😂

i wish i stopped at 6 hours, today is my third day straight of trying to do it, im actually gerting worse due to frustration. i just hope the patch that is coming out makes this atleast doable, not easy, doable

My issue with this part was progression. The game give you checkpoint after checkpoint and lots of Green Orbs and suddenly, there's just a HUGE spike in difficulty. You need to ease the player into something like that. This shit took me 11 tries to beat.
Perhaps I'll properly evaluate this sometime. Care to do a 'how to' for this fight's first trial (Wave 1) in VH PAIN+?
this made me rage quit. i see '19 attempts, 2 hours of attempts,' etc. i've been trying for, cumulatively, about 6 hours now. i'm done. never has a game made me more disinterested in progression than ascension. devil may cry 3 and ninja gaiden sigma 2 are like childs play compared to this. it's like santa monica said 'hey lets think of the hardest combination of bullshit possible and throw it in a tiny series of rooms with traps and no checkpoints. oh my god, i'm done. rage fulfilled. have fun
