Most of the time it's unresolved psychological issues. Laura should have insisted on counseling for the family and should not have let the stepdad take over. Yelling at her, scolding her and trying to punish her did no good.
In my opinion, the grandmother was right. Kelly was raised with absolutely no rules or discipline. And, it’s really late in the game to start now. You must start when they’re very young. It would have been nice if at the end of the movie, a scene showed Kelly telling her reckless boyfriend that she couldn’t see him anymore. Then, it would’ve showed that she had matured and learned something. There are 2 kinds of discipline: constructive, lessons learned discipline, OR abusive, crippling discipline. Kelly would’ve thrived under constructive discipline that promotes confidence and self-esteem. I am a Mother that practiced “alternative discipline” because of the abusive way my father had treated us. Because of his treatment, I had absolutely no self-esteem. When I became a Mother, I read every book I could get my hands on that taught discipline without being abusive. We had some rough times, but I stuck to my guidelines, and it was all worth it in the end. Now, my adult children are college educated and have the confidence that I had always lacked. God’s Blessings to everyone out there❣️🙏😇
Yes, tend to agree with the judge's decision to remove Kelly to a different environment - seperated from her mother. However, placing an already troubled girl together with a group of delinquents does not make much sense.
Parents, forget that by natural law, we need to allowed for our precious children to make their own mistakes, like the time, that they start crawling, standing, walking, running around in there walker, putting us on our tippy toe., It's heart breaking, but we need to update our parenting, co-parenting, communication, mentoring etc..,

My son had to go to Juvi for a few days and a detention center two weeks, he came out a changed man were super close now. He came after me with a 🔪 while staying with my mom she allowed him to miss 21 days of school and play video games all day. I went to get bring his butt back home from grandmas and he became irate!

I really hated that floozy defense attorney that not only got the daughter's name wrong, but also mixed up the time for the hearing and the mother unknowingly came late because of that "mistake."
This mother has an issue of her own. If my child said that she wishes I was dead instead of her dad well I would let her stay in jail and wash my hands of her. That child of hers has some serious issues. If she hates her mother that bad that she hits her, I would be afraid of my life that she might kill me.

Scary to imagine that such horrible, vindictive case workers are actually part of the system.

22 is not a teenager. 22 is grown adult. Those are real treatable conditions. She needs to be willing to talk to her doctor.
