Danny L Dude its so boring. I read books all winter when its slow & take work orders as they trickle in. A light bulb here and there, that's about it. I do ground cleaning every morning so that's all done by 10:00 am. So boring. 👍😂👍 Thank you for watching Danny! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

Paul Peck Nice idea Paul! Ill have to store that idea away for next slow season. Its about to pick up here soon. We're in the 80's next week. Here come the AC calls!
Thank you for the video, if you replace a whole fan will you need to go into the attic for access sometimes? Trying to figure out if I can handle it without going in the attic.
I missed this one and I have never seen that man. But I don't' know if i would have looked before i saw this video. At least I will stop and look before I take the whole fan down now.....lol
26 years as Maint. And that’s the first on of those I’ve seen do that in a ceiling fan. Just goes to show ya that when you think you’ve seen everything you learn you really haven’t. Lol
Good job Lex wonder if capacitor made a noise when it failed. Hope you have been doing well. Keep up the good work. Give me a call sometime. Have a blessed day
Pat Stansberry Thank you Pat! The lady said her apartment stunk like vurned plastic all night. Thank you man! With a full-time job, 2 kids and a wife, I barely have time to call my own family. 👍😂👍 Thank you so much for watching Pat! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
I like to give them a turn and then spin by hand and listen for crunching and feel for tight bearings, before just replacing the cap. but as with everything else now days, plagued with chinesium parts :)
throttle bottle Yup. That's what I was doing in the beginning of the video. The fan was moving because I was turning it with my hand. Thank you so much for watching throttle! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
i have a fan that is slow moving the capasitor isn't showing any melting. any clues, motor bad or is it the reverse switch,, The fan switch I have verify works via Multi Meter test
Why didn’t you just replace the capacitor rather than the entire housing body? Wouldn’t say that’s a repair job. More of a replacement. At least now I know what to look for in mine. Thanks for the video.
If my capacitor looks fine could it still be bad? My fan is humming and pull chain seems to switch like its supposed to.. But its not spinning at all .. Just able to feel the vibration
Sucks.. I just bought the fan less than 2 years ago. Bought 2 at the same time same fan.. The one in my master is working flawless.. Would anything with the electrical make the same rooms fan go bad? Its done the same thing to a previous fan in the same room..
jason Bwhahahahaha! No way Jason. If it gets 45 degrees here I turn into a sissy. 👍😂👍 Thank you so much for watching skid! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
Installed a new ceiling fan. Was working great then one day stopped. It hums and only moves when I move it. The capacitor still looks new. Any ideas what it might be?
Hmmm, sounds like it may be a lemon fan & the motor is bad. Hard to tell by not being there. Usually when it hums its a bad motor. Thank you so much for watching Bobby! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
Hmmm could be a number of things. The pull chain gear might only engage the slow speed or it could be a bad motor. Thank you so much for watching Bryan! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
Cheep Chinese fans seem to do this a bit. That fan probably stunk up the place with that melted cap, too. LOL... Next you will be putting your meter on those caps like you do the HVAC. I don't understand the microfarads 4.6, 6, 5. I mean if you put 6 and 5 in series it is 2.7 not 4.5, so I am not sure what they have there.
Nevermind, I am not reading it right. It is three capacitors with two grey wires and then three colored wires. You can use one or more to put them in parallel.
NETWizzJbirk Bwhahaha! Good call Justin. The work order said the whole apartment smelled of burned plastic. Thank you for watching man! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
Hmmm.. You may need to replace the fan due to a bad motor. I'd need to be there with volt meter to be sure. Thank you so much for watching Ryan! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
Geez. Everything has a pain in the butt circuit board in it now days. Drives me crazy. Thank you so much for watching Andoy! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
Me would have just duct taped a box fan to the ceiling and used vice grips to slice the cord from the box fan to the wires in the ceiling fan. Humans know me as Smarts from the neighborhood
If there was no way to fix that fan, it would've been thrown in the garbage. Not saying there isn't, just so you know if you can't get it to work again, you should replace it with a new ceiling fan.

I had a same issue with a ceiling fan I found in a trash, except that the capacitor looked perfectly fine. Replacing the capacitor did fix it.
Thank you so much for watching!
It’s been slow at my work too... it drives me crazy. I’m ready for summer. Good to see you back.

No, you shouldn't need to go into the attic. They're usually just mounted to a box in the ceiling. Thank you so much for watching Sandy!

Hmmm make sure wiring is correct. Other than that, I'd need to be there for this head scratcher 🤔.

Yep, cap could still be bad. So could the motor. If it's the motor, it's time for a new fan. Thank you so much for watching Dave!

I had one the little container where the chain went into open up. Had to manually hold it shut and pull the chain.

@@LexVance yea I think the motor is kaput
I was searching for an answer on why my ceiling fan's humming or buzzing. Any idea how to stop the humming?thanks.
Make sure the blades have rubber washers under the screws. If not, get some little rubber washers to put under them.
@@LexVance thanks lex
Hi I've got a remote control ceiling fan. When it's off it makes a buzzing noise. I turn the fan on and it stops. Any ideas what that could be?

Sometimes you can buy the whole light kit. Sometimes you can't due product being discontinued. Thank you so much for watching Joe!
Can this cause a fire ?
If it got too hot and there was a lot of dust on the fan I'm sure it could.
👍👍 Lex
Harry Dickson Thank you so much Harry!

how about if a fan doesn't go on full speed but goes medium and low speeds what could be the problem?
Could be the switch not engaging the higher speed setting. That's a tricky one.
