This was the first flying RC thing I had as a kid. I remember flying it in my friends living room and blowing all the dead bugs out of the bowl lamp in the ceiling.
OMG! Thank you for bringing back a core memory that had left my database. I used to have the 3rd one!!! Had so much fun with this as a kid. Very cool. I think I will see another..
Dave, these things are so cool, and what a Great idea for a video episode! Thanks for the memories, brother!! I've been a UFO tin-foil-hatter for 30ish years, and remember 1st learning of Mark McCandlish.. Not only did he tell the account of Actual UFOs [Reproduction Vehicles] - Hovering on display in a guarded hanger at a major airshow event, I was big into his blueprint/rendering of said "A.R.V. Alien Reproduction Vehicle" and that took me down/through Never-Ending Rabbit Holes! [They use counter-rotating disks top/bottom] which would create their own field.. Anyways.. When these 'mono-copter' like flying crafts came out I was ear-to-ear smiles, and apparently still get that way when I see them! I admittedly skipped over them and bi-copters, and dove into design/construction of tricopters/quadcopters and so on.. I was always more interested in maximum control/stability for the niche hobby of aerial photography/videography. [Now look where we're at] *Bitter/Sweet* Thanks for this one man! 3 min of actual happiness [that I haven't felt in a long long time] Be well my friend, and as always, Thank you for sharing!! 🤘😎 Sam -
Haha yeah I remember those and I think it might still be around somewhere. I'd completely forgotten about it. Maybe I should go hunting for it for my daughter to play with.
Doesn't look like they had much directional control as they were spinning!!! 😂 Now you can buy the miniature UFO's that have Infrared proximity sensors and you can control/direct them with your hand movements!!!
They had to start some where. These were hi tech, in 2005 with a completely rotating aircraft. They were only designed to hover, not fly in any directions and it has a gyro to help with that. I have the flying balls that use hand control which makes them go up and down, but are still not that great trying to get them to go in any directions. I know, because I have many of them including videos on them.. My latest video is a true obstacle avoidance machine, but cost $1200. The dji Mini 4 drone. None are unidentified flying objects. Here's the link to true technology, but I give thumbs up to this machine for breaking the ice 20 years ago. Thanks.. th-cam.com/video/fAOsrID9kFg/w-d-xo.html
@@55Wings I cycled the batteries to remove any memory and increase run time, (as the directions say to do). I have not replaced the batteries, but I might, if these go bad. Im impressed it still works after almost 20 years. Thanks.
I miss the air hog days
Me too. Thanks.

Right on. What a story.

I had a couple of the basic airhogs that I rigged up with leds that looked great at night
Fantastic. Thanks kindly.
I have heard of these but never ever seen any of them fly before untill now Dave👍😁👍
Glad to hear that. Thanks, Cue.

That is a great story. Thanks so kindly for sharing. God bless.
I had 1, what ever happened to air hogs?
They made some great little planes.
Not sure, but I loved their stuff too.. Thanks.
I've never had one. Very cool 😎 ✌️
Thanks.
Hi Dave,
I remember seeing commercials for those. Weren't they about 15 years ago? You and Ilea stay safe and thanks for your service.
Almost 20 years old now. They came out in 2005. Thanks much, Don.
Don’t let Frankie or Johnny anywhere near these things! 😂
They watch for sure. Thanks Scott.

Go for it and happy flying. Thanks.
I had one of these! Made my pups go mad. I also saw one of their old 1ch helis in a buy/sell shop in phx the other week going for $60.
Sadly, I never had one :(
Then go to your room!

@@NightFlyyer I have 2 or three of these left. I imagine I will need to replace a battery. Have you done that surgery? Any suggestions?
