Thank you for breaking this down for everyone saying the trustees are only abstaining from meetings to be vindictive to Tiffany. They don’t want a repeat of the same thing that caused all the shenanigans going on right now. This is a clown show and no matter how you try to twist it or turn it, if Tiffany gets her way, it only gets worse. Thanks so much for making this murky water clear.

Thanks for this report, Melanie! I’ve followed along the Tiff debacle almost from the beginning. You’ve just let me know there was much more to this that I hadn’t learned of. There’s many TH-cam channels covering Thornton and Dalton but none are as informative as Lansing Journal Channel. It helps those of us who aren’t citizens of those communities that fall under Thornton Township know just how important your paper is to your residents there. Keep up the great work!

You hit the nail on the head with that statement.
I used to attend the Thornton Township meetings back in 2006 through 2017. The board was a rubber stamp. Frank made all the decisions, and the board was just a figurehead for the public to see. The same was true for the South Suburban College Board, where Frank served as Chairman. It was done that way because Frank didn't want any opposition to his political agenda. As we all see, this can have long-term consequences because when you have a dysfunctional board that's not used to making key decisions, it's really easy for someone who shouldn't be in a position of power to swoop right in like we see today.

I have never heard of such a thing. She had such an amazing & ready-made Role to step into had she been satisfied with what the Position required of her. I think the first taste of POWER she had-she was INSTANTLY ADDICTED to it! Since they could not come to an agreement, they should have let the people vote because it was a rush job to hurry and nominate someone to keep the public from choosing. Her confusion in those moments makes me think she had already been struggling with some form of dementia, and the stress of the situation made it worse. She was given the role of Deputy Supervisor because she was the longest-serving trustee. I'm not sure if that was a legal requirement or simply a sign of respect, but she got the position despite her inability to handle it in her condition.

Melanie, these videos are always helpful and you all do a great job in reporting on this story. One thing that still confuses me is that Tiffany was combative and disrespectful (based on older public videos) as a Trustee and it was well known, so I'm still not clear why Gonzales nominated her (which I know he has stated he regrets). I'd like to hear how others feel about it as well. Thanks!

Thank you for providing this perspective, based on minutes of past meetings. You may also wish to note that the March 3 meeting began without the appointment of a supervisor pro tem to preside over the rest of the meeting. Clerk Wells illegally assumed the role of the presiding officer, as emphasized during public comment by former trustee Jim Giglio at the 9/27/2022 township board meeting.

Good point. I double-checked the minutes from those six meetings, and most of them do indicate Closed Session on the agenda. In every case it was "To discuss the hiring, discipline, performance, compensation and the dismissal of certain personnel" or some variation thereof. It's possible they used that as a description of their discussions about who should be Supervisor.

Tiffany dont do nothing but lie she shows up to the one meeting where they say her name she just as shock again a lie the lady who worked with Tiffany side by side said Tiffany found out Frank was dying she found a way to get his address went over to the man house with Nikita when they pulled up it was house full Nikita knew what Tiffany was going to his house for she wanted her name giving for supervisor position didnt care that he was dying or had house full. Tiffany went to side of that man dying bed lying to him and setting everyone up. Today she speaks bad about Frank in this video she says she got hard shoes to fill. I now believe someone called Gonzalez and others told them to give Tiffany name why would he say Tiffany but no to Jerry. Im glad Gonzalez trying to fix his wrongs what I dont understand why these grown adults will do what people tell them to do oppose to using and deciding from their own brain and heart they had nothing on this girl besides having big mouth failing with her own house property, went jail breaking in cars, wouldnt pay her food cart bill placed on college grounds easy search enough not picked her. I give many of these people side eyes to many followers not even good at following

    Outstanding journalism!
I've been keeping up with the issues of Dolton regarding the mayor / supervisor Tiffany Henyard.. Going back to when she was a trustee and through my observation
It was very clear early on that nominating her was going to be problematic for the citizens of Dolton, etc!
Mayor/supervisor displayed who she was from the beginning! Considering everything that's happened while she was a trustee and her lack of respect and continuous negativity, I'm left wondering why Gonzalez would nominate her!?!
Thou i do believe his nomination for her was with good intent for the citizens of Dolton. Moving forward, his decision on important matters should be re-evaluated,and I say this with all do respect, that was an extremely poor decision..
    Just sharing my views,
    From Milwaukee ,Wisconsin
Well Wishes and Blessings to the citizens of Dolton..❤🙏🏽 24:17

as well as the remaining Trustees. This appears to be a Sham and All current Trustees should be voted out , if running, and this compliance should be contested in court as to the process of the Henyard appointment.
