    Interesting: Never knew Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis actively flaunts 305.3, by letting your opponents play a land at the end of your turn.

      @@ShadowFist13I rewatched it after a short nights sleep lol. Here lemme break it down.
      His first thought to suspend Dryad Arbor with Jhoira wasn't going to work because Jhoira says to exile a nonland card. Dryad Arbor being a land makes it an invalid card.
      Then he went down a rabbit hole about the wording of Jhoira, it uses 'cast' instead of 'play' but thats because the rules for Suspend changed it to 'play' and Jhoira just keeps the old wording because again nonland card so doesn't really NEED an update.
      Jhoira you can exile a MDFC that has a land on the back, you can play it on the land side due to the Suspend rules. Still have to follow the rules for lands being played only on your turn.
      Dryad Arbor can't be 'cast' because its a land, Lands can't be 'cast'. So Dryad Arbor is 'played' and since it was 'played' and not 'cast' it can't gain haste from suspend. As suspend only gives creature spells haste. Dryad Arbor can still gain haste through other means though, it just can't get it from suspend.
      Cheers

    also, also, if it looses it's last time counter on your opponent's turn, you can't play it because there is a rule that says you can't play lands on your opponent's turn, even if something would otherwise allow you to.

    Can you go further on the explanation for the backside land, because I thought that for all intents and purposes it only cares about the front side if it is in exile, like cascading

    • @keepingitcasualmtg
      @keepingitcasualmtg  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      When looking for characteristics of a double faced card we look at the front face. But when making the choice to play something if the other side is something that you can play then you’re allowed to make that choice

    Does playing the land off suspend count as your land drop for the turn?

  • @seandun7083
    @seandun7083 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    From reading the suspend rules, I noticed this weird section:
    "702.62a: "... you may play it without paying its mana cost if able..."
    I know that suspend forces you to cast the spell if able once it runs out of counters (the rules text enforces this by saying "if able" so you might need to Shivan Meteor your own creature), but if you aren't given a choice, why does that rule say "you may"? Wouldn't "...play it without paying it's mana cost if able..." work?

    • @keepingitcasualmtg
      @keepingitcasualmtg  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I believe it used to be forced, but I think in recent times they've changed it so that you don't have to play the suspended card if you choose to.

    Can you suspend it even though it isnt a spell?

    • @MizaBrega
      @MizaBrega หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Suspend represents three abilities. If somehow a land card had suspend while in your hand, you couldn't use the first ability it represents - it only lets you exile it if the card could be cast from your hand. However, this doesn't prevent cards from otherwise gaining suspend when exiled by other means (such as the instant card "Suspend"), and the second and third abilities function as normal, provided there are one or more time counters on that card.
