So many ignorant people who know nothing about hunting or conservation commenting on here and passing judgement without educating themselves. Scary to think what else they have opinions on. I am a small teenage girl from the suburbs but I have decided that I want to look into learning to hunt. Whatever it takes. Archery in particular has caught my fancy. I like the way a bow feels. I like knowing where my food comes from, I like meat, I like nature, and I know that hunting is important to conservation and gives the animal a faster death than it would naturally have.
So as a small teenage kid from the suburbs you know everything about hunting and we should all listen to you and not have are own opinions ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Do us a favour 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That was so cool. I shot a medium sized brown bear just south of Katmai national monument in the early 80's. We watched it cross the river coming right at us. I was knelt on a bear trail that lead right where he was crossing the river. Instead of taking the trail, she walked up a small creek that was just to my right a couple of feet. I twisted as far as I could to get a shot. When I looked through the scope, all I could see was blurry hair. I sighted down the barrel and hit her high in the shoulder because the angle was very similar to this shot. To our surprise, she went down and never got up from that spot. We estimated the shot at about 10' from the muzzle of my 7MM mag. Needless to say, my heart was racing when it was all over. Thanks for the video and bringing back memories.
Wow sounds like a great hunt. It's very hard to explain the exhilaration experienced and the meaning of a hunt like this to someone who hasn't been there. Thanks for sharing your story
What happened exactly? Where? How long and how far did it stalk you? What weapon did you have? What do you reckon would have happened if not having met the Eskimos?
That's what I am talking about. Good clean harvest of a great brown bear. The nay sayers will always troll the heck out of these videos and it's best not to give into their stupidity. Don't feed them, just thank their opinion and when one comes into their backyard and eats their precious little poodle while they are eating their broccoli and all they have is the Internet to hide behind they will sing a different tune. Predator control is mandated by Congress and game laws....you know those things your ancestors probably fought and died for?? I myself applaud you on a ethical hunt and wish you the best...and for those trolls...well broccoli screams when you rip it from the ground...peace
I agree but the bear I shot had a 29 9/16" skull #1 SCI at the time. he was 19.5 years old. He might not have had the same body size as the first bear but I doubt the first bear had a larger skull. Not that it mattered, I was shooting any mature bear that gave me a clean bow shot on but skull size are how bears are scored
Really? Normally I don't really dislike hunting, but this was just unnecessary, was no reason to kill that bear, he was just trying to catch some fish and live his life.
Great shot-great video on a magnificent creature. Sportsmen and women fund the research and conservation efforts to ensure the future of this species. Some people are happier to take the wild and the free out of the animal. Those people have no problem visiting these creatures enslaved in captivity in a metropolitan zoo. Good job my friend.....
The raised on Disney generation is going to bust a blood vessel. There mom will need to buy them some more yoohoo and cheese poofs just to calm them down.
Loved the hunt Gus. When that bear stood up, I would have freaked and I've been to Iraq. Hate people don't understand conservation, killing boar males actually helps the population. I quit gun hunting a few years ago, the bow definitely evens the playing field. Good huntin' to ya!
+mikeworld39 It tastes like bear. LOL It's hard to describe It depends on what the bear is eating. The bear meat I have eaten has been a little greasy but very good. And I ate bear steaks on the grill not covered in sauce so I got a true taste of the meat.
There's plenty of other outlets for food. If you can afford a pricy bow, you ain't starving. You don't need to kill a magnificent animal to show off. Heartless fucks
It always amazes me that videos titled about hunting, killing, etc are watched by people opposed to hunting. Why watch it if you're going to be upset by it? Hunting is a way of life and a God given right. I hunt for food and I can tell you that when I kill an animal I use every part of it and the animals I kill have lived a much better life than farmed animals and have died a much more humane way. If you don't believe it, punch in slaughter house floor on youtube. Hunters are the main contributors to conservation, how many of you who are opposed to hunting contribute to conservation in any way at all?
Tony,I agree with your comments....I prefer to hunt for my own food ...fuck these idiots....most have probably never set foot in true wilderness....Sit their asses down and watch these videos just to bitch
+ Steven Branson I respect and even admire a person who hunts for their own food. I also appreciate the thrill of the hunt, it's in our DNA. Hunting just for the sport of it is what I'm against.
Great hunt Gus. I have hunted the muskeg and just the ground and the brush is exhausting. That first boar had some head on him and great shot on that second boar. You did it the hard way. Congrats and be safe. keep the shiney side up rubber side down.
youtuber well why don’t you go out and tell the bears that there’s hunters around the bait. Trust me if bears had consciousness they would be hunting us down daily lmao
I am always asked why is bear management necessary? Removing some of the older male bears is important to preserving the rest of the bear population. Watch th-cam.com/video/Rfo233Q6aOg/w-d-xo.html
No doubt, sensible hunting keeps the ecological balance - but hunting with bow and arrow only means evil torture to the creature and fun for the killer! Only use big-bore rifles. That`s quick and clean.
I disagree. Any poor shot, rifle or bow, will not result in a clean kill. The amazing thing about a bow shot is the apparent absence of shock after the shot. I have had animals run and not know what had happened. They died quickly and cleanly. This bear died within minutes of my shot. It is up to the hunter to decide if he can make a clean double lung shot. If you watched this video you know I passed up a shot on a standing bear because of that very reason.
Live the Wild Life TV I hunt with dogs in the UK and personally think guns can make things to easy dogs take healthy animals but will always pick out the weakest keeping the prey population healthy... guessing hunting with a bow when the animal, especially when injured, can literally take you to pieces makes you MORE careful of your shot and swift closure to a hunt
im not a big hunter myself, but I know for a fact that a male bear that size will kill all the new cubs i the area, for miles and miles. Hunting an old male bear, is weirdly the best way to preserve a bearhabitat.
@Freecheese It is not a ridiculous statement.Alaska has a brown bear hunt on Kodiak island. They issue so many permits and the hunters are allowed to kill the big males. You are only allowed to take the skin and leave the meat behind for the other animals. There was a whole series about it.It is because the older bigger bears on the island will kill the younger ones.
You are not smart. Killing the old bear would allow for over population. They have a perfect natural balance, humans are throwing it off by hunting for the big one. 100 years ago tuna caught were way bigger, the big tuna did not get to reproduce so tuna caught now a days are smaller. Same thing is happening with other animals. No balance.
Must feel like a real man to kill a helpless, living, breathing animal with high powered technological weaponry. And for nothing more than blood lust. Try joining the Marine Corp and see how manly you are.
@@jimmyhylton9957 amen. If ya don't like it don't friggin watch it!! It's that simple!! We've gotten to a point in this country where nobody is ok with disagreeing. It's either my way or you're wrong!!! Hunting is the greatest form of conservation, PERIOD!!!
Pathetic 👎 hand to hand combat in self defence maybe , but hunting down an innocent animal with a powerful weapon is hardly brave ! The word pathetic is much more fitting 👍
I appreciate your comment Cuchulain. I took some grief from my fellow hunters over not taking that shot I felt and still feel that is a one lung shot and I didn't want to take the risk of wounding that Bear. As hunters we all have our reason for why we hunt For me there has to be some honor in harvesting my game. A one lung shot would have meant a follow up rifle shot or a slow death and that bear did not deserve to die like that. When we left the bear that stood up was still alive
to all the cry babies, do some research of you food supply. cruelty is an understatement when applied to the origin of foods purchased in the supermarket. cattle know what is coming when they get loaded onto trailers and unloaded at the slaughter house, the smell of death surrounds them for hours before their time comes. humans are predators, have always been and will always be in order to survive.
Yes I did. Although I differ on the sucker punch part. At 5 yards that bear can rip me to shreds before it dies. I can sugar coat what I did and say that Fish and Wildlife agencies determine how many bears need to be removed to maintain the food supply and health of the whole bear population. Or that larger boars will kill cubs so that the sows will come back into estrous and will breed again. Hell I can go on with more reasons that this is necessary but the truth is this was a rite of passage for me. To take down the largest land predator with my bow on my terms. It's dangerous, exhilarating and what man has been doing since the beginning of time. Sorry you can't understand that. Enjoy your kale. Peace
I understand, but see if you can wrap your head around this. A big misconception is that the Fish and Wildlife agencies are supported solely by tax dollars that are collected from the general public. They are funded by sportsman who pay for licenses and are taxed on the hunting and shooting products they buy. The Pittman-Robertson Act which is also known as the Federal Restoration act became law in 1937. The revenue generated from the excise tax is apportioned to state wildlife agencies for conservation efforts. That hunt cost me close to $20,000.00 and part of that money funds the agencies that protect the wildlife from poaching and uphold the game laws. So although I understand your concern for the death of this bear understand that it is very regulated and does provide some benefit for the total population of bear.
***** hunting for sport is practice for hunting for survival. Would you be able to survive if no groceries at Walmart. What about fishing? Are you against sport fishing too?
Live the Wild Life TV well said.obviously you do your home work..well researched! ! kale sandwich. lol..gross..think id rather have some grizzly summer sausage!
+Dan Stephens He had a scoped 300win mag wrong gun to stop a bear at 25 yds. And even a 338 at that distance on a charging bear coming out of the bush is not an easy shot. I am sure you put yourself in that type of situation all the time to be able to make a comment like that.
Sorry, didn't mean to get anyone stirred up with my comment. BTW, I've hunted black and brown bears in Alaska. But I used a 300UM and always carried a 454 Casull for backup. Peace.
+Vinchenzo C Not everyone is an idiot because they don't know exactly what YOU know. I was agreeing with you, but suggesting you educate the peeps and not assume people are disagreeing with you. Relax.
Beautiful animal Gus. I am a avid whitetail hunter here in Iowa. I hunt for three reasons. First is to feed my family a far healthier food source than commercially processed meats. Also offsets high food costs. Second reason is maintain the ability to survive should civilization collapse. Third is to connect my busy modern life with the ways of old and appreciate how fortunate I am. Do I enjoy Hunting? Of course!! Its very satisfying to complete a successful hunt. Especially after several failed attempts. People think you just show up and kill a animal in its home, not true. There are two types of Mammals on this earth. Carnivores and Vegetarians. Its that simple. I'm proud to be created in God's image and I'm very thankful for all he provides for me. Meat included. Amen!!
It was a very intense video. I personally don't stalk many animals for few reasons..mostly because I suck at. Don't pay any attention to negative people commenting on your post. When sh** hits the fan, they'll be asking people like us to keep them and their families alive. Keep up the hard work. And post more hunts!!
Awesome hunter Gus! I respect you for waiting to have a "double lung shot". I don't understand all the hate for hunters by non-hunters. Oh well... Starting at about 2:00 minutes to about 2:30 is the reason why I don't hunt and perhaps the reason why you do! lol. I would just simply faint! Great footage!
I disagree with killing for "sport" unless you are feeding a Family and you have to do it for survival. I learned to hunt and shoot since I was little and later went into law enforcement since I was 21 and have over 50 years experience. It is better to commune with nature and not upset the "balance" Native American Indians know and understand all this. Nothing goes to waste. It is also bad Karma not to pray over the "food" you have "harvested" for your "survival". Killing is Killing. I hope most of you will understand. Take care....
***** Thanks Gus! Very good answers and professional. I have considered hunting again as I used to when I was a child/teen in Texas. Nothing too serious. I am doing serious research on our Native American Ancestors and "other" American hunters have all but depleted the Buffalo. I think Bears should be protected and Boars hunted. I used to be a Fed and cross trained Fish & Wildlife. I carried a gun for over 40 years but in law enforcement. I also worked at the U.S. Mexican Border and enforced 40 agencies 400 laws, etc..I've seen a few videos with bow hunting Bears and they were allegedly within 3-6 feet? Wow ! A little too close, even for Smokey the Bear. Just wondered what the best type of bow is good for me? I am 6'3" tall large build. Special arrows? Tips? Or would you trust an old fashioned wooden bow(Indian style??) Stay safe okay ?
***** Nice ICON Michael! Cloak & Dagger stuff is my background. The biggest problem the Native American Indians had was they were LIED to and they tried to believe their could be Peace between the White American settlers. The Government has not changed very much in 200 some years. American children are NOT taught the Truth about how bad our Calvary and military acted towards the Native Americans by killing women and children and taking their "Scalps", etc...A whole "Culture" was practically wiped out for what? Railroads, Settlers, "Progress"?? I remember the story about how General Custer allowed some high ranking Indians to a "Peace" talk under a flag of truce and were all hanged or killed. ALL the alleged "Peace" Treaties were violated by our Government and Military. In other countries like Japan, the natives who are special or significant are given protected status as living historical landmarks.....PEACE !
Hunting in this form does keep the balance in a good place. There is a lot of research to determine how many can be harvested, and nor over harvested. To be in close proximity to something so big and lethal, would be communing at the apex. I hope you back up your position with money. The revenue for hunts such as this, do more to ensure wildlife thrive, than the hot air you put out. Bad for the ozone too.
Great job! Good hunt! Now thats what hunting is about!! I use both firearm and bow. I get as close as I can to the animal Im hunting before I make the shot. More rewarding to me, to out smart the animals senses in their own territory, and harvest them. Being a Native American, I see honor in this type of tradition, despite the haters, they just dont understand.
i still dont understand the logic of the anti-hunters watching these videos and then criticizing us hunters. They obviously know nothing about why we hunt and why hunting is essential for human life. If no one hunted there would be an over abundance of animals and not enough food to support the species and the over abundance of the animals would also affect our way of life. Farmers already have a hard enough time as it is to support their crops from deer and other animals, so i cant even imagine what the damage would be with an uncontrolled population. This is logic and the Antis dont even give it a thought. and then they always say, i wish that bear would kill you. so since when is an animals life worth more than a humans. i have failed to figure out why they say these things. I hunt, i will always hunt, no one will stop me. i dont care about others opinions of it, its a way of life. I do it because its all i know. Its all ill ever know. i grew up with it and i cant imagine life with out it. So all the anti-hunters reading this and about to comment spare yourself the effort of writing a senseless comment that has no factual basis and get off the video because you are hypocrite and no one cares to see your negativity. Thanks.
Always the same arguments.. earth didnt need us to regulate anything for millions of years idiot Youre just a sadistic loser you dont know anything else in life
What a great hunt. please don't listen to all these pot smoking tree huggin hippie idiots that are posting mean comments. They believe 10000 years ago you could buy veggie burgers and live off grass. They don't acknowledge the fact people hunted for food. It's in our human nature to stalk and kill. That hunt was awesome. Loved seeing that blood come dripping out of that bear after the shot. Sharp broadheads.congrats on a great trophy
That is the dumbest reasoning I have heard. If you are going to use human history as your tool, it is also in our nature to rape and kill other human beings . How would you feel is somebody did that to you or your family. As beings of modern society, we understand that we are masters of this planet and it is our duty to show empathy to other creatures. Just killing an animal for the sake of sport and justifying it based on some prehistoric predatory instinct is pathetic.
Well then, tell it like how it is instead of justifying your action. "I am monster with a bow and arrow and I enjoy killing scared and helpless animals and the best part is I have the legal right to do so ".
"Monster with a bow" I like that but again I disagree with the "scared and helpless " when you are describing a brown bear. It is the largest land predator and I know I heard a bunch of moose cheering in the background when he was shot because of all of the moose calves he has killed. Karma
The eco system....and you are more qualified to talk about the eco system than the Gov't agencies? Fish and Wildlife realize the importance of removing a few bears for the good of the rest. Do you realize a large boar will kill a females cubs so she will come into heat again and breed? I think they have things under control.
Gus, I'm not a hunter myself but I've been learning more about it lately and I've been wanting to go sometime in the future. I think if hunting if is done ethically and humanely, there is nothing wrong with it and in some regions it is necessary. I will say that I don't think animals should be killed just to say you shot a huge bear with a bow and from your comments I can tell you feel the same way. My only question is what purpose did the bear serve after you killed it? Was the meat used for food? (Also, how did you get the bear out of the brush?)
Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . So as a small teenage kid from the suburbs you know everything about hunting and we should all listen to you and not have are own opinions ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Do us a favour 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great shot. My Native Brothers would be proud. Anyone that's ever seen what a Brown or Grizzly can knows how scary this can be.
Nice Job Guys on the filming. Congrats Gus.
I was. Stalked by a Polar bear one time. Scary as hell I di have a weapon. Luckily I run into a Eskimo. Buddy my life daver
Brown bear with a bow. You are a brave man. That bear could eat you as fast as look at you. Their speed and strength are amazing. Good shooting.
+R Joseph Interrante Thanks it was the hunt of a lifetime.
Except for the other guy with the gun.
A brave man with a big rifle as backup.
Dude first bear was insanely huge.
Screw the haters, great bear. great hunt, great shot.
Really? Normally I don't really dislike hunting, but this was just unnecessary, was no reason to kill that bear, he was just trying to catch some fish and live his life.
Derpleton Herpson Thats what hunting is all about. Why would you pass on that class bear? Thats a bear of a lifetime.

I’m all for hunting for food ,but a Bear I’m not sure about for me there is no reason.
Velocity4000fps no haters its fucked up what if u were hunted for sport??
Great shot-great video on a magnificent creature. Sportsmen and women fund the research and conservation efforts to ensure the future of this species. Some people are happier to take the wild and the free out of the animal. Those people have no problem visiting these creatures enslaved in captivity in a metropolitan zoo. Good job my friend.....

Loved the hunt Gus. When that bear stood up, I would have freaked and I've been to Iraq. Hate people don't understand conservation, killing boar males actually helps the population. I quit gun hunting a few years ago, the bow definitely evens the playing field. Good huntin' to ya!

+Live the Wild Life TV I was wondering what does bear taste like?
+mikeworld39 It tastes like bear. LOL It's hard to describe It depends on what the bear is eating. The bear meat I have eaten has been a little greasy but very good. And I ate bear steaks on the grill not covered in sauce so I got a true taste of the meat.
Live the Wild Life TV I heard from my uncle that you have to season bear just right to truly enjoy the meat?
Live the Wild Life TV Could a white-tail deer be killed with 5.56 rifle?
“Amazing bear, magnificent animal!” Kills it... 🤦♂️
If you eat meat you can’t talk shit on a guy hunting an animal he’s gonna eat
If you’ve never hunted, you don’t have the appreciation for an animal like us hunters do.
There's plenty of other outlets for food. If you can afford a pricy bow, you ain't starving. You don't need to kill a magnificent animal to show off. Heartless fucks
@@GodsavedTrump Do you think the meat you buy in the store grows on trees?
@@GodsavedTrump fuck off, why watch these hunting Videos if You don’t approve, Watch the Irving’s in Australia.
You guys are crazy , balls of steel
It always amazes me that videos titled about hunting, killing, etc are watched by people opposed to hunting. Why watch it if you're going to be upset by it? Hunting is a way of life and a God given right. I hunt for food and I can tell you that when I kill an animal I use every part of it and the animals I kill have lived a much better life than farmed animals and have died a much more humane way. If you don't believe it, punch in slaughter house floor on youtube. Hunters are the main contributors to conservation, how many of you who are opposed to hunting contribute to conservation in any way at all?
*****
You're right, far better off to eat process food, meat that's full of chemicals, etc. You're obviously the sane one, HA!
Tony,I agree with your comments....I prefer to hunt for my own food ...fuck these idiots....most have probably never set foot in true wilderness....Sit their asses down and watch these videos just to bitch

Great hunt Gus. I have hunted the muskeg and just the ground and the brush is exhausting. That first boar had some head on him and great shot on that second boar. You did it the hard way. Congrats and be safe. keep the shiney side up rubber side down.
this is the way bear hunting should be and NOT baiting them as MOST bear hunts videos shown here in TH-cam.
youtuber well why don’t you go out and tell the bears that there’s hunters around the bait. Trust me if bears had consciousness they would be hunting us down daily lmao
exactlyyy
bears are delicious, used to hunt them with my dad and grandpa in Alaska when i was a kid.
Did you really eat bear meat?!!! It has Bearonavirus😁😂
I am always asked why is bear management necessary? Removing some of the older male bears is important to preserving the rest of the bear population. Watch
th-cam.com/video/Rfo233Q6aOg/w-d-xo.html
+Live the Wild Life TV Same should go for human beings. We are almost out of food and water, and two billion more are coming.
^^^Internet tough guy huh.....
Wow......that bear is so big.......amazing shot.........👍👍👍👍👍
im not a big hunter myself, but I know for a fact that a male bear that size will kill all the new cubs i the area, for miles and miles. Hunting an old male bear, is weirdly the best way to preserve a bearhabitat.
jkken1 Ridiculous statement to support your position.
Absolutely true. We are currently over run by bears. The big males kill and eat the cubs both as a food source and to bring the sow back in to heat.
I'm sure the bears survived before sport hunters came along
You are not smart. Killing the old bear would allow for over population. They have a perfect natural balance, humans are throwing it off by hunting for the big one. 100 years ago tuna caught were way bigger, the big tuna did not get to reproduce so tuna caught now a days are smaller. Same thing is happening with other animals. No balance.
Such a beautiful & majestic animal.

Pathetic 👎 hand to hand combat in self defence maybe , but hunting down an innocent animal with a powerful weapon is hardly brave ! The word pathetic is much more fitting 👍
When that bear stood up I thought he was going to attack, but he pussied out.
I totally respect what you’re saying, you’re a very ethical decent man.
"a slow death, and that bear did not deserve to die like that". But it still deserved to die though huh.....interesting philosophy
@@davidvanderlugt7731 No one is saying it deserved to die. The purpose of these hunts is to maintain a healthy population of bears in an ecosystem.
Its not a comment on this particular video....., but man...what a beautiful world this would be without humans....
to all the cry babies, do some research of you food supply. cruelty is an understatement when applied to the origin of foods purchased in the supermarket. cattle know what is coming when they get loaded onto trailers and unloaded at the slaughter house, the smell of death surrounds them for hours before their time comes. humans are predators, have always been and will always be in order to survive.

You are wrong. Vegetarians like yourself are clueless

Talk about putting you right there. Awesome post. Thanks.
Yup.... what a waste of meat..... spring bears are decent .....
Amen
Great job!
Great hunt!
Watching these videos makes me want to learn more about survival skills. Wouldn't even know where to start.
This type of hunt is the exact opposite of anything resembling "survival skills" lol
i still dont understand the logic of the anti-hunters watching these videos and then criticizing us hunters. Thanks.
Always the same arguments.. earth didnt need us to regulate anything for millions of years idiot

Rape and murder are illegal bear hunting is not.
