For anyone who was wandering, this is caused when you drive towards the plane at the same speed that the plane is going giving it the illusion that the plane isn’t moving.
I was stopped in traffic in Washington along side the air traffic route as a row of planes were flying in to land and a lower plane hung lower than all the rest in on single spot. All the explanations about the opposite motion and rate of speed can not explain that.
I was driving from Detroit to Chicago and I saw similar incident frozen huge plane in sky and I slow down and I wasn’t moving at all , no one believed me when I spoked about it
@@glamrockfreddyinanutshell3885 The world is divided between three types of people. 1 - Who don't believe in reality. 2 - Who do believe in reality but aren't bothered by it because they're immature (like you) 3 - Who know the reality and feel alienated because they've seen too much aka mature minds.
I saw the same thing in Charlotte, NC on my way to work. I couldn't film it since I was driving. It was right in front of me and I was going in a W/E direction, and the plane was going in a N/S direction. Not much room for an optical illusion there!!
Unless that plane is pretty small, no that’s just a neat effect of the plane coming towards you while you come toward it. The give away is the scale. That plane is too large to be over only an over pass. Looks like a 777 which is a very large twin engine air liner. If the plane is not moving while over the overpass you have to factor in scale and size of the overpass versus the plane. Because the 777 is larger than the overpass it’s a perspective issue, and it’s certainly moving.
Jetliners aren’t allowed to fly this low due to FAA regulations, and you’d hear to roar of the engines in the video if it was moving. This plane is not moving, and shouldn’t be flying this low near traffic.
Something similar literally just happened to us couple days ago. While in the highway , going the opposite direction there was a small plane very low to the ground , right above some small hills , maybe 10-15 feet away from us , (very close that we even saw it had thin blue stripes across the doors ) , it was just frozen in mid air . 😅 It didn’t make any sound or anything. It was there “frozen”… So weird to see a lot people are having similar experiences lately . It was too bad I didn’t have my phone ready to record it .
We are not in a simulation, your just stupid. When you are in a moving car and see a plane moving in the sky it gives the illusion that it is staying still. Anyways, for the people who are about to put 🤓 and “you can’t take a joke”, yes I can take jokes but this man is simply not joking. He’s just flat out stupid
Someone doesn’t understand the phenomenon where an object moving in the opposite direction as the observer at just the right rate of speed can visually offset the movement of the observer to make things appear to be stationary. Want to make people believe the plane is stationary? Be stationary while you record it.
Dude... I can not explain this, but I'll NEVER forget the the one and only time I EVER saw this happen with my own eyes. I will neverrrr forget. That shit was not an illusion and I can't explain that shit. It literally was NOT moving! Mind blown.. that shit sticks with you as a kid.
Parralax left the chat Those who didn't understood context - In certain conditions, particularly when encountering powerful headwinds, a plane can give off the illusion of being temporarily frozen in the sky. From the opposite direction, this unique vantage point can create the illusion of an aircraft suspended in time, even if it is gradually inching its way through the air.
Airplanes stay in the air because of one simple fact-- there is no net force on them. And with no net force, an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays that way, even if it's in midair 10 kilometers above the Earth's surface. Now, of course, it's not like there aren't forces acting on the airplane. Gravity pulls down on the plane itself plus all of the people and baggage inside, and every single air molecule that's shot through the engines or collides with the fuselage or wings pushes on the plane, as well. But if all of these forces are balanced-- in particular, if the air molecules push the plane up enough to counteract gravity-- then the plane stays up. Getting air molecules to push the plane up is the crucial part of flying, and planes do this by making sure the underside of the wings crash into more air molecules more violently than the upper sides. When a plane is parked on the ground, air molecules bounce off of the top and bottom of the wings in roughly equal amounts, or with equal pressure and no lift. But in motion, the curved shape of the wings and their slightly inclined angle means that the bottoms smash into more air molecules than before, and smash harder into those molecules, so the pressure on the bottom of the wing goes up. In addition, fewer air molecules now strike the top of the wing, and those that do strike it less forcefully, partly because it's being shielded by its own forward motion the way running into the rain keeps your back drier, and partly because a curving stream of air has lower pressure on the inside of the curve since the molecules get thrown centripetally to the outside. But whatever the reasons, the pressure on the top of the wing goes down. So low pressure or less downward force on the top plus high pressure or more upward force on the bottom, and the plane has lift. And if the force imbalance is big enough, it can lift the plane up into the air against gravity. Now, all of this crashing into air molecules to lift the plane also pushes to slow the plane down, which it would if not for engines. Engines also push air-- in this case, backwards-- either via a propeller or a jet or a jet driving a propeller. For various reasons, it turns out that you want to have a really big propeller driven by a really small jet for the most efficient engine. But even in inefficient engines, the spinning fan blades generate their thrust, which is essentially horizontal lift, by moving quickly through the air with a curved shape and a slightly inclined angle. They're essentially mini wings. And so an airplane is essentially a meta-wing. It flies by moving mini wings fast enough to push air molecules backwards, which moves the plane forwards fast enough that its big wings push air molecules down
Thank you! I feel like I actually just learned something useful from youtube finally lol. You're a stellar human for taking the time to explain this to us simpletons sir/ma'am.
Unless there's a crazy storm, not that close to the ground it's not. Winds to cause a stall like that would also cause the plan to wobble. Not be perfectly still
Do you have your simulated flight time in a 737 where stall speed is 145 knots or 166 Miles per hour with minimum crew and flaps at landing position? How often do you experience a 166 mile an hour headwind below 100 feet ? So, you're wrong.
