    Would be great if Park Tool made customizable tool kits. That way people could get what they wanted and leave out the stuff that they probably won't use or already have.(In my case: Cone Spanners, Derailleur Hanger Alignment Gauge, Tire Levers, Bottle opener, Scissors and Needlenose Pliers.) Thanks for the fun and informative videos.

    I just bought the PK-4. Worth every penny!
    Just an FYI: The description on this video says, "An investment you’ll appreciate for decades all housed in a large, rugged tool box." but the video states that it does not include a box. Might want to update the description.

    I love park tools and their videos are like having a shop class at your finger tips . I find them very expensive though but there is always a price attached to quality .If I were to go pro I would pony up the cash and would want one of their trailers that is a shop on wheels but I would probably have to sell my house first . • @LasseGreiner
      @LasseGreiner 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, my private experience with kits is that on average you use every tool twice. But this is not evenly spread as you will use a few a lot and others never. However, as a mentor of a self help facility for bike repair (reparadel.hs-mannheim.de German only) this kit mirrors very closely what we choose to buy over some time by experience.

    • @olx222
      @olx222 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      But this is not meant for private use, it is meant for professional use. It is a kit/starting point for opening up a new bike shop from scratch. It even has the best cassette tools (also the most expensive, 1:18) which is complete overkill and way too expensive for it to be worth it for private use. It is the kind of tools you need when you replace 1 cassette an hour, not every 1-2 years.

    I would tell people that this which kit is actually not really enough to start your own bike repairs, they will soon have to buy new tools after acquiring this. In Europe (Germany) these tools cost over a 1000 Euros. Some things are rediculous, you will never need 6 Different 5mm hexes. (5mm PHandle, 2x 5mm Bit Set, 5mm Torque limiter, 5mm l Hex, and one triangle shaped) some others are included in abundance as well. most other tools are great for what they are they are hefty and well designed.
    But then they include a bottom bracket removal tool with a socket wrench which is far too small to actually torque up to 40nm the socket wrench is completely useless with it's small length (in the video they actually even used another wrench). I have to tell my friends to always, if they really want this, to also buy torque wrenches or Split Beam torque wrenches with this because even the most basic aplications will need you to have some sort of torque control which exceeds the basics the torque limiter offers.
    If this package included at least a torque wrench of some sort for higher torque aplications this would be close value but this costs another 56-114 Euros. It would also have been nice if it included some sort of chain cleaning tool, which doesn't cost that much. other tools I would include, are some basic break tools for Hydraulics. and maybe one or two further tools for different bracket standards, or even something to work on inside your suspension settting new cups for example. A Pressing tool would be sweetbut I know those are really expensive.
    This is basic with a lot of rudandance and just missing crucial items

    • @tinbadge
      @tinbadge 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the very end of the vid he says that a tool box is not included and these are shipped for putting on your wall in a shop. But if you get them just clump them all together and go get you a affordable plastic of metal tool box or even you could use a small medium plastic tote and throw other things in as well.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The long end of the P handles has a ball end. If the short end had ball ends they would be much less strong and would likely break off for many tightening tasks. Ball ends are about %50 the strength of a standard hex end.
