I'm an old Enduro, flat track racer and current Harley rider. Stumbled on you video and appreciate your take on this. Looking for a bike to ride with my grandkids on the track I built for them to ride on. You sold me on the bike. Kawasaki should send you a commission. Can't wait to show them their grandpa can still ride! Thanks.

I have the 2022 KLX 300 (in camo). I’m an intermediate rider, and I love this bike. I changed the front sprocket to a 13 tooth (14 is stock). That yields lots of low-end torque. As for seat height, I’m only 5 6” so I added a Seat Concepts low seat.Absolutely no seat height issues. Suspension is great, as advertised.

Great video, Kit! That was fun!

SWEET RIDE! Your job---should you choose to accept it---is to ride the piss outta your new ride. The 17" wheels, the suspension, acceleration and brakes are an amazing package. Kawasaki has been producing this big for many years and finally brought it to USA.
Nice going! Big smiles! Your bike does everything well.

Great review! I'm sold on the bike and will get the SM as my next motorcycle.

Had my KLX300SM for a week so far, and it is a perfect machine for fun around town! Once I break it in a little, I’ll need to find a track!

Have the dual sport, love it. Just swap out the tires if there’s any chance of mud though. They load up with mud and you might as well have a sport bike tire at that point.

"...a really good street bike... SO, how is it on highways/thruways/turnpikes? Comfort level/handling??
    Thanks for the vid!

The SM seems like great fun but the price has gotten up to $6299, so I’m trying to decide if it’s a good value anymore. You can’t seem to find any used.

You should be able to find a used KLX 250sm for quite a deal now that the 300's are out there. I ended up with a slightly used Dr.Z 400sm, and have no regrets.
      Hope that helps.
      Cheers!

The SM could do with cast wheels to allow tubeless tyres. Good review.

    • @mmz77
      @mmz77 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You can do tubeless and spoke, just have to seal it properly. You want spoked SM wheels if ya being a hooligan

cast wheels are also fragile and harder to stunt on.

Enjoyed the review. Kawasaki did well by doing a super moto version. Really desire the dual sport though.

I'm with ya on the color. not a big fan of camo at all. Plus it's good that it comes in a high vis green making it easier for people to see you!! could literally mean the difference between life and death! But I like the more black sm look with the green front fender.

An SM is the MOST fun motorcycle one can own. Even Yammynoob agrees. Get an SM, you won't regret it.

Waiting for ABS for the SM model.

It has a single rotor up front. You’ll need to crack down on that lever to lock it up. Same with the rear.

Johnnie Walker---ABS not necessary. Test drive one and see for yourself.

@@Swimfinz All dealers in my area are sold out. If ABS and slipper clutch are options, I do get them.

Saddle time: surprisingly, the upright position is perfect for vision and comfort. No problem spending 8-10hours in the saddle, in 105F Thai heat---no problemmas. It is great fun Lane Splitting in dense Thai traffic In Bangkok on my DtrackerX. Now Americans---finally---get to enjoy in the fun. I need to get one for my stateside rides, hahahah.

Very cool to test drive the 300SM at a Go-Kart Track! That gets close to Asian riding style (TH-cam search "Bad Driving, Thailand."). They are up to episode #45. Watch the vids and imagine yourself being on a Kawasaki 300SM. Okay---I've been driving my 2009 Kawasaki DTrackerX In Thailand for many years--identical bike, about time Kawasaki imported this sturdy model to USA. Amazing fun, best bike I've ever owned. Some background info: petrol pump is located inside the 5.6 liter tank. The blue odometer in Thailand tends to go south within 2 years. I hope Kawasaki has fixed this known issue. A new odometer head (cannot reset ticker) cost $95 in Thailand, more like triple that in USA. Thailand produces 250-300k motorcycles per MONTH for the global market. The bike's suspension and shift ratios are magical. Great brakes. I noticed I could go deeper, faster with more lean in my DTrackerX / 300SM. Dunlop tyres. I also installed downward blue LED effex lighting for night time rides, looks chuff. I could go on.....get this bike as Kawasaki will sell out.
