- The last of the 5 drawbridges to film in downtown Joliet. This one like all the others feature WRRS Motor bells and a Sentry F2 siren. The F2 here though is higher pitched than at the other bridges. Once again I set up on the opposite side of a one way bridge.
There is one more drawbridge in Joliet, which is Brandon Rd. However, that crossing is currently closed for repairs so I can't get that on video at this time. It's got a similar setup to other bridges.
Filmed May 10, 2020.
Camera used: Canon Vixia HF-R700. - บันเทิง
These are fascinating to watch operate. Would for sure love to see more.
Double leaf Scherzer rolling lift; can’t be too many of these still in service!
Looks like this bridge was originally 2 way, based on the (partially) abandoned traffic lights on this side. Honestly impressed the reds still work.
That is done because in some instances when another bridge is down for repairs, other bridges that are typically one way will be temporarily made two way.
Shortly after this was filmed, it failed and is still awaiting repairs in 2022.
Why do both the traffic lights have “DO NOT ENTER” signs?
because the it is a 1 way lane, the drivers from the other side are only alowed to drive the bridge
It's a one way bridge.
Of Course There’s More Then 1!
Ah I forgot about the F-2’s!
Nice Catch
why are WRRS motor bells so good sounding
What's the purpose of sirens on some drawbridge?
I believe there to warn either boats or cars the the bridge is opening or closing. I'm not too sure.
I like those sirens. Adds to the drama!
