    Both are denarii of Antoninus Pius. The reverse of the one you weren't sure of is a modius holding a poppy and grain ears, the other one is Tranquillitas standing.

    • @davidlathrop9360
      @davidlathrop9360 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Better yet, the Tranquilitas coin is better dated by the fact it has the information that he was holding tribunician power for the 15th time, and consular power for the fourth. that dates it to 151-152 AD, according to Numista.

    John:
    I believe you unearthed a part of a cobblers “last”! This tool is used to hold an inverted shoe to receive a new or replacement heel. You are missing the base, which is held by a workbench vice (keep looking).
    Best - Michael

    That gold chunk that you thought could be plastic, is actually a piece of "kickstrip" Rory putting on your carpet at the threshold of a room.
    I have found loads of them, they are always little chunks, they have grooves and a section is always angled.
    They get the heart going, they do.

    That aluminum piece with the flat end and long shaft( appears to be broken off) resembles a heavy duty tent peg. The "heart" shape piece may be a metal boot heel protector. I saw one side appeared smoother and perhaps worn from contact with the ground. I really enjoy the unusual finds you recover. Even in Canada I've found a rare Livery button from London England. One of my favorite finds.

    The rings for tying down tarps are called “grommets .” Love the history you share.

    • @Afro408
      @Afro408 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you sure? Down here we call the eyelets. I thought‘grommets’ were circular plugs in metal panels, as used in some car bodies for closing drain or access holes. Or they are a circular rubber guard that is fitted to the hole in the engine firewall, to protect electrical wires to pass through. But they could be both, or either. 🤷‍♂️😁 I guess it depends on where you live.

    A few quick things... In the US we call the tarpaulin hole protectors grommets. The second thing... For people worrying about it, softly brushing a coin to knock off dirt will not do any damage worse than laying in the ground for hundreds of years already has done. Dug coins, unless spectacularly rare or gold ones, are not worth much as collector coins to begin with, as they're graded as having been dug, and detectorists rarely sell their finds... Also, I'm loving your videos and quite enjoying living vicariously, detecting through all those "fields of Perthshire" while it's way too dang hot and dry here to be out detecting in Oklahoma! One other thing, I think we're probably distant cousins, I am of Scottish extraction, my brother and I are very tall too, and have "bendy thumbs" just like yours lol... Keep up the good work John!

    The first thing you found is called a grommet.
    The little tag thing I believe is a keyhole cover for a padlock.
    That is the "Isle of Man" symbol but I don't know what the thing is.
    The heart thing is part of a small padlock.
    Do you get to keep gold and silver coins you find or are they considered treasure?
    I have found U.S. pennies only a couple years old that were almost completely disintegrated. They sure don't make them like they used to.
    The last park that I hunted I found 28 aluminum pop tops and nothing else so I gave up. At least you found some pennies and such.
    I believe the rectangle thing might be a shim.
    Congratulations on the Roman silver coins and the 23k subs🎉

Oddly enough my ancestors come from Perthshire and Ayreshire think that's the right spelling. Going by other Active detectorists in England the more some fields are ploughed the more relics are upturned and unearthed so the fields that have been done to death have given up some more amazing finds and some long lost and forgotten hoards.
