My husband and I just started RCIA classes after 30 years of being in Protestant churches, most of those years in a Calvinist Presbyterian church. Mary has been our biggest stumbling block. We were just talking this morning about Mary and the church teachings and even the rosary. We are going through Matt & Ken's On the Journey series and decided to watch one of those videos today and this video popped up. Perfect timing! I won't say we're not still struggling, but we loved hearing Matt & Denises's experiences.

Basically, I am a cradle Catholic and 18mo's ago my son was badly injured in a work accident; was a time restrictions were in place with Covid so even visiting the hospital had complications. Course my prayer life was always and is dedicated to the honor of God but when night would fall and the worries escalated in my head it was adding and saying the Rosary & personal direct prayer to Mary that brought a peace and gave me a strength difficult to explain.... stillness at night to not wallow & worry, strength thru the mo's for the operations my son went thru and then rehab which was a duration of 14mo's (and will for another 6mo's). Thankfully everything is going along a-okay for my son, but to know I had another mother who went thru a far more intense grief of seeing her son going thru what Jesus did for us, Mary gave me a faith-filled determination, peace & will.

What great testimonies. And I have to agree with you both that she works swift when you need her help. A long time ago I had a colleague in the Methodist Church who introduced me to Our Lady of Czestochowa's icon through an art book she owned. Little did I know that this simple introduction would come into play years later. Around 1995 I was still Methodist and but I was sneaking away from my apartment at night to read John Henry Newman and Saint Louis de Montfort in a local fast food joint. In those days an employee at the local Cokesbury store was calling me the Marian Methodist. He knew I worked at a local Christian bookstore but I was being pre-formed and prepared for the Catholic Church. I was mostly convinced by the Marian theology but now things were moving from my head to my heart. I knew I wanted her as my mother and that God was giving her to me. And yet, I had so many fears. I remember once when I had an impulse to bring an image of her into my home, but was so anxious about following through with this. I told God that I needed him to show me by some small sign that I was on the right path. I told him that I was going to go into a Catholic bookstore and that when I stepped in I hoped he'd let me know. When I walked into the store there right in front of me was a small statue based on the Czestochowa icon. Then it hit me and that introduction all those years ago came flooding back to me. Incidentally I was living in a new city at the time and the person who originally showed me that icon had also moved up there. So here were a few notes of continuity with my past and a green light from God and Our Lady. From that instant I took her into my home and my life has never been the same. Within three years I was Catholic. Also, as was mentioned in the video, I struggled with the Immaculate Conception. I accepted it as truth because the Church had been right about every other question I'd considered. A priest friend once told me we don't believe things because we immediately understand them. We believe them because it's what the Church has taught to be revealed by God. My struggle had to do with my understanding of the book of Romans, but eventually my problem was resolved and now I love her especially under her title The Immaculate Conception. Love you guys. I've had a great time meeting some of you in the online group. All the best!
I am glad you came to understand about the Immaculate Conception and accepted Mary as your Mother What a beautiful gift God has given to us through Jesus.
Yes, she does answer us! 💙💙💙 While listening to this presentation I wished, as I so often do, that I could feel motivated to pray the Rosary. A half-hour later, listening to the latest news about the Ukraine situation, I asked, "Blessed Mother, what can we do?" And a thought came into my head-- not my own thought-- "We should pray the Rosary." Notice: WE should pray! In other words, we are PRAYING ALONG WITH Mary when we pray the Rosary. Shortly after, I also realized that I hesitate to pray the Rosary because I think I can't do it perfectly enough. And that I shouldn't make perfection the goal, but devotion.

I have often wondered if Mary was displaced in the hearts of people by the Church of England particularly because they wanted people to have a "devotion" to Elizabeth I. Many denominations come from the Church of England: Baptists, Methodists, Holiness, Pentecostals. I just wonder if this is a factor. I saw a film from the late 30's in Wales. They depicted miners who were in a great crisis, and they were literally almost praying to the Queen.
Good point. Especially since they were destroying statues and pictures of Our Lady. The wooden statue of Our Lady of Walsingham was dragged to London and set on fire, and the current statue is based on an old drawing of the original.
the Lord gave us His Mother Mary on the Cross, His last testament so we would not have only the same Father but the same Mother as Himself, to become truly His Brothers and Sisters also. Plus Mary is the new Eve, God wanted to redeem us with the cooperation of a human woman to make good what Eve had brought over mankind with her sin. Mary is much much much greather than people know and She was given more glory in heaven than all males combined who ever lived on this earth. In heaven, no Angel stands in her presence and the devils fear and tremble at any of her movements. The time is drawing near that Mary must crush the devils head for good as said in Genesis. And this is meant literally. If everyone loved Mary, then all would love and understand and obey the Lord Jesus.
Why does it feel that way if people say 'Mother Mary'? It's an honour to feel close to her as Mother, surely? It's common language for me, anyway, having grown up Catholic. Maybe just not common practice in your area.
That's amazing but, bet you didn't know that in the Bible, in both the Old and the New Testament, all Believers always pray DIRECTLY to God the Father. Isn't that awesome? And in the New Testament it's always directly to God the Father, "in the name of Jesus". In fact when the disciples asked Jesus himself how to pray he said: "... your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come..." Matthew 6:8-9 And... "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." Matthew 6:6 v And in God's Word Jesus himself intercedes for us, not his human mother. This is exactly what it says: "Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." Hebrews 7:25 "Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us." Romans 8:34 And the Holy Spirit: "In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; Roman 8:26 That's good enough for me. So, in conclusion, in the Bible the idea is NOT to go to the Son's human mother (or to anyone else), who then goes to the Son, who then goes to the Father with your request. No, your Heavenly Father's wish and desire is that you go DIRECTLY to Him with all your prayers and petitions. I'm not kidding. Check it out for yourself. So why go in little circles when the Father wants, and even commands, that we come directly to Him. "In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father." John 16:26-27 It's as though I was a simple little employee in a huge giant corporation. And the President/Owner of the corporation adopted me and loved me and told (ordered) me that any time I had a problem or a request, I was to go directly to him, and he would handle it. Perfect. As for me I think I'll just stick with God's Word and go on "drawing near to God (the Father) through Him (Jesus)", being that I want to be "saved forever". I just figure God must know what he's talking about. After all, he is omniscient. "...for the Father Himself loves you" . Anything else is pure human reasoning. No thanks. Christ and his Word are sufficient. I'll end with this: "Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." Hebrews 7:25 We are to "draw near to God through him (Christ Jesus)". The unbiblical Roman Catholic practice of praying to Mary and the "Saints" has exactly the opposite effect. It distances us from God instead of drawing us near to him in Christ Jesus. “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition." Mark 7:9 "The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." John 1:5 This is the confidence which we have before Him (the Lord God Almighty), that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. 1 John 5:14-15 It doesn't get any clearer than that! Anyhow, that's what I do. I pray directly to my Heavenly Father out of simple obedience. After all He's done for me it's the least I can do. Obey, and not invent my own religion. Don't mean to be disrespectful but, it really does seem like you all have made a whole other religion out of Jesus' very human mother.
Well Rolando, apparently you do not know or understand scripture. Did you know that the angels and saints (that includes Mary) carry our prayers to heaven? They do not go directly to God on their own. Yes, Jesus is the mediator between us and God the Father. However, Jesus said He does not pray for world and God said He does not hear the sinner or unrighteous. Mary and the Saints intercede for us. They and the Holy Angels carry our prayers to God in Heaven. Rev 5 and Rev 8. It's there! Those are intercessory prayers. Rev 8: 3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the *prayers* *of* *all* *saints* upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the *prayers* *of* *the* *saints* , ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. Rev 5:8 8 When He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are *the* *prayers* *of* *the* *saints* . So they bring (mediate) our prayers to God. John 9:31 Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous. So, who is more righteous and holy than Mary, Mother of God, the Angels and Saints/martyrs in heaven? (John, the adopted son of Mary, mentioned seeing His adopted Mother Mary, in Revelation. The ark. The woman crowned with 12 stars, etc). 1 Peter 3;16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. Jesus taught the meaning of scripture to His Apostles which they in turn taught those they ordained in The Church. Not everyone was promised to understand the scriptures. 1 Tim 3:15 The Church is the pillar and bulwark of truth. And Jesus said of His Church: Luke 10:16 He who listens to you listens to Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.
Wow! There is not a single mention of scripture, any idea why? Praying to Mary is not biblical! She cannot intercede for us - you are twisting the truth and deceiving yourselves and others. I urge you to think critically about this and come back to the truth! 1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) - "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"

🤣🤣 ok can you explain? So Jesus resurrection was demonic? Because Mary, as JESUS MOTHER not on her own, was raised BY HER SON JESUS. He’s demonic? Explain please.
@@jimreilly917 Why would you say Christ rising from the grave is demonic as that is the very power of God? Where was Mary raised by Jesus? Mary WILL be raised by Christ when He returns at the rapture, the bible does not teach otherwise. A false teaching is demonic.
@@sammygomes7381 I don’t say that…I’m saying the only reason to believe Mary is beyond death is because of her Son. If you think rising from the grave is demonic, you attribute the Resurrection to demons and not rightly to Jesus. If you had the power to deny that death touch your mother would you exercise it? The early Church Fathers believed exactly that. By early fathers I mean those taught by the Apostles taught by Jesus. Not the “fathers” born 14 centuries after the Resurrection of Jesus.

"Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us."
Romans 8:34
And the Holy Spirit:
"In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
Roman 8:26
That's good enough for me.
"In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father."
John 16:26-27
It's as though I was a simple little employee in a huge giant corporation.
I'll end with this:
"Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them."
Hebrews 7:25
We are to "draw near to God through him (Christ Jesus)". The unbiblical Roman Catholic practice of praying to Mary and the "Saints" has exactly the opposite effect. It distances us from God instead of drawing us near to him in Christ Jesus.
“You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition."
Mark 7:9
"The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."
John 1:5
This is the confidence which we have before Him (the Lord God Almighty), that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
1 John 5:14-15
It doesn't get any clearer than that!
You want to know what the Church Fathers say about intercessory prayers and Biblical proof of it?🙏🌹😀Deo Gratias!Ave Maria!🌹🌹🌹🙏
Rev 8:
3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the *prayers* *of* *all* *saints* upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the *prayers* *of* *the* *saints* , ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
Rev 5:8
8 When He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are *the* *prayers* *of* *the* *saints* .
So they bring (mediate) our prayers to God.
John 9:31 Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.
Proverbs 15:29
The LORD is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.
1 Tim 3:15
The Church is the pillar and bulwark of truth.
And Jesus said of His Church:
Luke 10:16
He who listens to you listens to Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.

@@PInk77W1 Or are you denying 1 Timothy 2:5 that there is more than one mediator between God and men?
The idea that Mary arose from her grave to meet these people is nothing less then demonic.
Oh @SammyGomes, wow you're here too, continue to be inspired, hardened not your heart 🙏.
