    She was the perfect choice after Stephen left. Even Alan knew that, hence why he decided to stay when he'd originally planned not to. I didn't think anyone could take over it, but she definitely did, and well. She shares the important aspects with him (comedy, intelligence, knowledge etc) whilst also being different to him and unique. Well done Sandi, and all those involved in her hire.

Just like Alan was the perfect foil for Steven and Sandi, she is the perfect foil for Sandi (and Steven for a brief time). She is extremely intelligent but never fails to make me laugh with her antics. She definitely knows how to push Sandi’s buttons, drive her insane and have her in hysterics lol. In original star trek, the red shirts are known for always dying. If Captain Kirk went down to a planet with a red shirt crew member, that red shirt would most likely not come back alive. So, red shirts are a bit of a joke. If you're a red shirt in star trek, you're probably going to die.

    If any solar system had a dense asteroid belt of the sort portrayed in science fiction, I imagine that gravity would bring the asteroids together.

    • @EebstertheGreat
      @EebstertheGreat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well the average distance between asteroids in our belt is about 1 million km, while the average distance between asteroids in belts in Star Trek is about 100 m, which is a factor of (10000)³ = 10¹² times greater. The asteroids are also about 1000 times larger on average, so if the dimensions of the belt are unchanged, the total mass of the Star Trek belt must be about 10¹⁵ times greater than the real belt. The real asteroid belt has a mass of about 2×10²¹ kg, so the Star Trek belt has a mass of about 2×10³⁶ kg, or about a million times the mass of the Sun. So yeah, there might be some issues.
      They have similar problems with nebulae. They depict dark nebulae as dense fogs of purplish gas, seemingly far denser than the Earth's atmosphere (dark enough even to conceal their ship from nearby enemies). That would make a large dark nebula in Star Trek more massive than the entire observable universe in reality.

    A comment on the comments, if I may.
    Although I occasionally get a bit put off by Sandi's overly ardent feminism, I can deal with it. I have more trouble dealing with the intensity of the "Stephen was better" crowd. I find it interesting that none of Sandi's supporters even say anything bad about Stephen, but his proponents are often "She's terrible" or "She's ruined the show". I'd almost suspect an amount of sexism is at play, except that would be awfully confusing since they're both gay.
    Stephen and Sandi are two different people, with different strengths and weaknesses, just like everyone else. You don't have to like them both. If you don't like her, don't watch the videos. Simple.

    Most American shows I've seen are quite careful to avoid singing copyrighted music in the middle of a program, for fear of having to pay for the rights to the music. This is commonly demonstrated with the way birthday celebrations in film often avoid using the traditional lyrics and melody to "Happy Birthday". Are the laws more permissive in Britain or was QI just confident that it was worth the cost/risk of letting them sing their showtunes?

    The problem with this claim is simple.
    The asteroid field here in our neighborhood is incredibly old, and has long since scattered far apart.
    But asteroid fields literally cannot all be in the same stage, or the same age.
    So mathematically there MUST be young asteroid fields that are still in the process of spreading out.
    and yes they would indeed be treacherous to navigate through.
    Sandi is speaking of what can be observed in our asteroid belt,
    but it would be foolish to make the assertion that all asteroid belts are the same.
    Susan should get the point this time.
